There was a soft knock at the door, and Emily thought it was Dolly coming. So she opened the door, but the man standing outside was Adam.

" May I come in?" Adam asked softly.

Emily gave a look of hesitation. She did not know if she should let Adam in. After all, they had just met, even though Dolly had said Adam was her brother. But she felt like a stranger to Adam. She had just arrived in this strange place, and was wary of everything around her.

Adam said softly, pointing to a fountain not far away, "That fountain is hundreds of years old, it has seen countless celebrations and important moments for the family."

They walked on, passing an old wall with beautiful frescoes. "These murals depict the heroic deeds of our ancestors, who pioneered the frontier, guarded the people, and created the prosperity we have now." Adam’s eyes were full of pride, and Emily watched them intently, a thrill of curiosity rising in her heart.

Adam then takes Emily to a hall where ancient weapons and ornate costumes are on display. "These weapons were used by our forefathers on the battlefield, and every scratch is a symbol of honor. And those costumes, which were worn during important ceremonies, represent the dignity of the family." Adam patiently explained. Emily caressed the old objects tenderly, as if she could feel the thickness of the family history.

At last they came to a high terrace overlooking the whole palace. "This is the foundation of our family, Emily, and you are an important part of it." Adam looked at Emily with tender eyes.

Emily gazed at the beauty before her. She had a new sense of the home and the palace. Emily, meanwhile, was puzzled, for she was Adam’s sister, but why had Dolly told her that she had been brought up in the country? Of the circumstances of her birth Dolly did not detail them to her. "I can feel your inner doubts and insecurities. " Adam said to Emily with a mind link, "But don’t worry, I will be by your side. I will protect you won’t let any danger come near you."

Adam’s words touched Emily, and she opened her eyes to see Adam looking at her. The sunlight threw a faint golden glow over Adam, and his smile was so warm and intimate.

" Emily, we are family." Adam touched Emily’s forehead with his, his voice was calm and soft as always, " This is your real home."

Emily’s eyes reddened a little, as tears welled up in them. She could feel the genuine emotion in Adam’s words. It was like a trickle of water running into her heart.

Now Emily knew that she was no longer alone.
