Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 41 Drunk
Blue Aurora Bar
Klaus took his own exclusive seat, and by the time Marx arrived, he had drunk half a bottle of whisky himself.
"Are you in a bad mood today?" Marx sat down, and, as the beta next to Klaus, he quickly sensed Klaus’s depression. There was a hint of concern in his voice.
"Did you quarrel with Luna?" Marx continued to ask, his voice cautious, not daring to touch one of Klaus’s sensitive nerves.
Klaus poured a glass of wine for Marx and pushed it in front of him.
"Sort of." His voice was low and hoarse, as if every word had been squeezed from the depths of his throat.
"So, she’s upsetting you, right?" Marx picked up his glass and peeked at Klaus. "Looks like you care about Luna."
"Of course, I care about her," said Klaus unabashedly, and there was a determination in his voice which gave way to a sense of helplessness. He did not want to hide his emotions from Marx, who was both his beta and his most trusted friend.
"I remember you said before that you don’t care about Luna," Marx said, not forgetting to observe Klaus’s reaction.
"Did I say anything like that?" There was a self-deprecating note in Klaus’s voice, as if he were laughing at his previous denials.
"Nope," Marx said knowingly. "Never."
"So, are you arguing over that?" Marx was cautious and did not dare to mention Maya because it was off-limits to Klaus.
Klaus replaced his answer with silence. Marx was well aware of Klaus’s temper, and if he did not wish to say more, no one could compel him. So he could only accompany Klaus drink after drink, and that was how he had accompanied Klaus for a long time after Maya’s absence.
Klaus’s arm froze in the air for a moment, and the glass hung unresolved. His gaze was fixed on a corner in front of him, where a familiar figure stepped into his line of vision—it was Emily.
She was wearing a silver strapless dress that glittered like a star in the light. Her face was painted with elaborate makeup, which gave her facial features a more three-dimensional and attractive look.
Her long, curling hair hung down behind her, gently swaying with her movements, and when she rose, she was like a silver mermaid swaying in the night.
She was so beautiful and captivating.
"What are you looking at?" Marx turned his head to meet Krause’s gaze, and he saw Emily, the twin princess, sitting beside her, saying something to her.
"It’s Luna and the princesses," Marx said. "Shall we go over and say hello to them?"
"Nope."
Klaus spoke quietly, but with a hint of imperceptible determination. He withdrew his gaze, raised his glass again, and drank the liquid from it. His movements seemed calm, but Marx could feel the undercurrents surging within him.
..............
Emily followed the twin princesses to the bar, where the bartender, who was in charge of the reception, recognized Minna and Maggie at a glance and promptly and graciously ushered them to their exclusive seats.
"Bring us a few drinks and some food," Princess Minna said in a tone that indicated she was a regular visitor, and neither she nor Maggie cared about the strange looks of those around them.
"Do you come here often?" Emily asked curiously.
"Mommy brought us here before," said one. "She said we could come and play here."
"And she’s brought us here more than once," Maggie interjected. "Mommy also allowed us cocktails."
"No, we’re not drinking today," Emily said to them in a serious tone. "Let’s have a drink and go."
"Can we watch a striptease show, then?" Mina looked expectantly at Emily.
"Does your mommy still allow you to watch striptease shows?" Emily thought it was marvellous.
Mina and Maggie nodded at the same time, and Emily said helplessly, "There’s no stripping show. I said we’d finish our drinks and leave."
"You’re speaking in a tone that’s very similar to Klaus," Mina complained under her breath. "He often doesn’t allow us to do what we want."
"And he often loses his temper with us," Maggie pursed her lips disapprovingly.
Emily’s heart felt as if something had been pricked at the mention of Klaus, but she soon recovered herself.
The bartender walked over to their table with a tray of drinks and food and placed two pink drinks in front of the twin princesses, with a final blue drink for Emily.
"Cheers, and I wish Emily a happy new marriage," Mina raised her glass. Her eyes gleamed mischievously, her voice tinged with high emotion.
"Happy newlywed, Emily," Maggie echoed excitedly.
Emily felt helpless and ridiculous at their behaviour. At times, she really did not know what was passing through the minds of the two little princesses, with whom Emily was obliged to cooperate in order to bring the day’s entertainment to a speedy end.
"Thank you," Emily said, raising her glass and taking a sip. The drink was sweet and sour in her mouth.
After a few minutes, Emily felt a little dizzy. Her vision grew a little blurred, and she tried to get up but suddenly burst out laughing, her body swaying. She could only just keep her balance.
Emily’s laughter echoed through the bar, drawing a few curious glances. Her movements became exaggerated and uncontrollable, as if, at this moment, all the normally repressed emotions were aroused.
"Is she crazy?" Mina’s eyes widened as she looked at Emily, who was behaving strangely.
"She can’t be drunk," Maggie said, picking up the cup Emily had drunk from and sniffing it. "Why does her drink smell different from ours?"
The air was full of alcohol and muffled musical melodies. Emily’s laughter took up almost the entire space, and her manner seemed presumptuous but extremely real.
"I’m not crazy, I’m just..." She laughed and said, with a helpless lightness in her voice, "I just can’t control myself."
Just then, a man in a blue shirt walked up to Emily with a confident smile on his lips and a gleam of opportunity in his eyes.
"Beautiful young lady, do you need help?" The man reached out and held Emily’s waist steadily. His voice was gentle and sly. "It seems that your friend is drunk, and I happen to know a place to sober up."
Mina and Maggie glanced at each other, their expressions full of innocence and misunderstanding of what was going on.
"Yes, she needs to sober up," Mina said innocently. "Take her to sober up."
"Don’t touch her."
A cold breath approached, and a low, commanding voice pierced the air’s ambiguity.
Klaus shook the man’s hand away and snatched Emily from the man’s grasp. His movements were imbued with an intense desire to possess and protect. Emily’s body fluttered in Klaus’s arms, and she looked up at him with dim eyes.
Then the man in the blue shirt, faced with such a formidable opponent, slipped away at once with an air of interest.
"Klaus, why are you here?" Mina and Maggie asked almost simultaneously, their voices full of wonder and bewilderment.
"Who allowed you to come to the bar?" Klaus rebuked his sisters. "I’ll settle accounts with you later."
Emily looked up at the man in front of her, and when she recognized him as Klaus, she actually gave a smirk. "It’s you, Klaus," she said.
Her voice was muffled and under the influence of alcohol.
"Hey, I’m telling you, this is my nominal husband," Emily said, pointing to Klaus’s chest. "This is the big bad."
"What do you mean by a nominal husband?" Mina asked curiously.
"Shut up, you two. Get out of here now." Klaus angrily scolded the twin princesses, his tone even more stern. "Go home."
At this point, Marx came up and saw Emily leaning drunkenly against Klaus and babbling something.
"Home?" Emily thought Klaus’s words were for her, and she said in a sad tone, "I don’t have a home. Where do I go?"
"Marx, inform the princesses’ bodyguards and tell them to come and fetch them back immediately," Klaus ordered, his voice revealing control of the situation. "Also, go to the bar manager to find out what Emily was drinking."
"Yes, Alpha." Marx immediately complied.
"Emily, come. I’ll take you home." Klaus held Emily and tried to calm her down. But Emily unexpectedly pushed Klaus away.
"I’m not going anywhere," she said emotionally. "I don’t want to be with you."
Seeing this, Klaus had no choice but to stop, and he walked out of the bar with Emily over his shoulder.
