America 1919-Chapter 953 - 325, Portugal Counterfeit Case_2
Hearing Donnie say this, Walker could only helplessly agree.
Just as Donnie said, his New Jersey Consortium already appears to be the ninth-largest consortium in the United States. Coupled with Walker’s Astor Family and the wealth of his wife Maholi, their combined strength undeniably looks impressive.
Morgan is also one of the nine major consortia in the United States, but in reality, there are gaps between the various consortia.
Take DuPont and Cleveland, for example—these two major consortia have close business ties with Morgan. In a certain respect, you could even say DuPont and Cleveland are two branches of the Morgan Consortium.
"What are you two talking about?"
At this moment, Alice and Maholi joined them!
Donnie said with a smile, "Walker is asking me to be his child’s Godfather!"
This wasn’t something Donnie said just to brush off Alice; in fact, when Maholi first became pregnant, Walker had specifically called Donnie to propose that he become the Godfather of their child.
"Oh, didn’t you already agree to that?"
Alice sat beside Donnie, smiling as she spoke.
Donnie replied, "Yes, but as the Godfather, we have to prepare some gifts for their child, don’t we?"
Alice nodded and said, "That’s indeed an important matter. Have you thought about what gift you’ll prepare for Walker’s future child?"
Maholi also looked at Donnie with curiosity.
Donnie thought for a moment and smiled, "I think helping Walker acquire shares of the Waldorf Hotel to gift to our future godchild sounds pretty good!" frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
The Waldorf Hotel is still in the hands of the Vanderbilt Family. Previously, when Donnie negotiated about hotels with them, it was about the Vanderbilt Hotel and did not include the Waldorf Hotel.
However, given the Vanderbilts’ reckless spending habits, it seems likely that the sale of the Waldorf Hotel shares is only a matter of time.
"This gift is far too extravagant!" Maholi quickly interjected.
But Walker was unfazed, replying, "It’s not extravagant at all. When Michael and Lucia were born, didn’t Donnie ask for two estates from us?"
Since Donnie is the Godfather of Walker’s child, naturally Walker is also the Godfather of Michael and Lucia.
"Taking that into account, we’re still at a loss! We gave away two, while Donnie is only giving one!" Walker added.
Donnie laughed, "Then, after this child is born, you can continue making efforts with Maholi!"
"Do you think I don’t know how to calculate?" Walker said meaningfully.
Alice glared at Walker.
At this moment, Robert walked in.
Robert now had glasses on, and his previously carefree demeanor was gone, replaced by a calm and composed presence.
"Robert, if I saw you like this on the streets, I probably wouldn’t recognize you!"
Seeing Robert, Walker immediately started joking.
Robert casually sat on the sofa and said, "Can’t help it, I’m too popular at school. The glasses help tone down my charm!"
Walker, unwilling to lose, retorted, "Yet I don’t see you bringing along a girlfriend!"
Robert earnestly replied, "The main issue is I haven’t decided which one to bring!"
After some banter, the two shifted to serious discussions while Alice and Maholi rose to stroll through the estate’s gardens.
"Have you met with Jesse Livermore and George Whitney?"
Donnie asked. On Donnie’s side, the Rothschild Family’s actions were coordinated by Jesse Livermore, while Morgan’s side was handled by George Whitney.
Robert nodded seriously and replied, "I’ve already met them. Everyone has reached a basic consensus, and next, I’ll spend most of my time with Jesse Livermore. Moreover, I’ve transferred two groups of people to Atlantic City for ease of communication with you. This ensures that even if one group faces issues, the other can reach you immediately."
"It seems your studies at Harvard have indeed improved you; you’ve learned to make extra arrangements!"
Donnie praised him with a smile.
Robert sighed and said, "I used to think attending school was pointless—after all, we achieved success without formal education. But now, after studying at Harvard and attending lectures, I realize there’s a reason they’re a premier institution."
Donnie first agreed with Robert’s sentiment but then reminded him, "But don’t rely solely on the textbook; you need your own ideas to do anything!"
Robert nodded and said, "I understand!"
Robert then shared the details of his discussions with Jesse Livermore and George Whitney, providing Donnie with a clear overview of the entire plan.
After hearing this, Donnie had no objections. As he often said, he was merely a collaborator in this matter—the overall direction had to follow the Rothschild and Morgan Families.
Even so, by the time they finished chatting, it was already evening, and the estate staff had prepared dinner.
Everyone gathered to enjoy the meal, and afterward, Walker, Maholi, and Robert left the estate.
On the matter of European government bonds, Donnie appeared to have handed full operational control to Robert and Jesse Livermore, leaving him seemingly idle in New York. But in truth, Donnie intervened daily to inquire about the matter and stayed ready to respond to Steve Cotting’s communications from Europe.
