America 1982-Chapter 664 - 6: The Devil Never Repents_2
Now they were passing through a gorge, with sheer cliffs on both sides, birds of prey circling in the sky, and as the car entered, the various animals along both sides of the gorge were disturbed, occasionally running and jumping beside the road, a fleeting glimpse.
"Not bad, he and my mom divorced, and they each started new families, but he still cares a lot about me, I call him a few times a year to say hello, he’s a blues singer, performing at a bar in our hometown in Ohio, he can sing a lot of classic old songs, I’ve been held by him on stage singing since I can remember," Jenny said, "After growing up, I left for California to look for a job and to fall in love, and then I started to contact them less and less. My childhood wasn’t devoid of my parents’ company, they divorced when I was sixteen, because my mom didn’t want to keep living the same life in our hometown, she wanted to move to a big city."
"If a father makes a mistake, would you, as a daughter, choose to forgive your father?" Tommy withdrew his gaze and looked at Jenny.
In that instant, even someone who wasn’t a psychologist like Jenny Ebbeson could see that the old man wasn’t really asking her, but his daughter named Jenny, who was far away in Germany.
She didn’t have the qualification or the courage to answer for someone else and could only choose the most conventional answer: "It depends on what the mistake is."
"I corrupted her, turned an angel into a devil," he lamented.
"Did you take her hunting, or did you kill animals in front of her? Did you boast about your prey by stripping the animals’ fur bloodily in front of her?" Jenny tried to think of ways to corrupt a daughter and picked the worst she had ever seen.
Many fathers take their children hunting under the guise of cultivating courage, and then blatantly kill animals in front of their kids, stripping off the fur. Usually, those scenes become the children’s nightmares, severely affecting their psychological and physical growth, even into adulthood they can’t shake off that childhood trauma.
"Pretty much, she participated in a hunt when she was seventeen, I helped her adjust the weapon, helped her aim, she was responsible for pulling the trigger. I feel that after that incident, my relationship with her grew cold. Before, she always thought hunting was just a game, but it wasn’t until she took part that she understood that the father she had always idolized was an absolute devil. She didn’t want to become like her father, but it was already too late, because of his teachings from her childhood, she had become the best devil, unable to view problems with the mindset of a normal person," said Tommy, sighing.
After thinking for a moment, Jenny made a suggestion: "Maybe you can invite your daughter to join animal protection activities or something similar, as a form of confession or atonement. She might like the change in you."
"Perhaps your daughter doesn’t hate you as much as you think. The person she has become today may no longer care about being an excellent hunter or how many animals she killed. What she cares about deep down is probably just that her most loving father took away her ability to choose her own life. After all, you said she had a chance to be an angel."
After listening to the girl’s words, Tommy nodded with a smile: "I really hope she’s just as you said, thank you, girl, even though it’s not real, your words have made me feel much better. You mentioned earlier that you are a dancer, and that there’s an audition opportunity and a three-month performance job in Fort Smith, right?"
"Yes, sir."
Tommy dialed the phone, "There’s a dancer named Jenny, Jenny Ebbeson, if possible, arrange a long-term job for her in your theater. You’re worrying too much. Do you think I’m the kind of unscrupulous capitalist who’d sleep with women and then squeeze them dry to create value for me? ...Right, I admit, I did cop a feel of that kid’s breast, but I swear it was under duress. Wait ’til you see the girl, and you’ll know it’s true. Who the hell wants to do that under the sun on the dry Route 40 if not forced? Of course, it was like the time I was forced to do it with you for seven hundred grand!" 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"What is she good at? How should I know, maybe she could just sit beside me and keep me company while I take Odelia or Sophia to the opera, so I don’t continue to doze off. This girl is really good at comforting people, so that’s that. Goodbye, oh, and tell that scumbag Archie to haul his ass back from Canada as fast as he can! Get sorted and report to Stanford on time! Don’t say he’s like me back in the day. I brought free software to the poor, what did he do? Learned ’free’ from his dad, ’movies’ from his mom, represented himself as a kid, and then combined the three to come up with P-site free kiddie porn?"
"Also, remember to tell him his site needs to add some high-definition videos of blond babes, starting at a minimum of 4K. Every time I lie in bed and fancy a mood lifter, opening his free videos on the TV just kills the vibe, it’s all mosaics; I might as well be watching pixel characters perform in MC."
"That’s it." Tommy hung up the phone and turned to Jenny, "The town of Niles is coming up; you can get off there, girl. But I wouldn’t advise you to head to Fort Smith. There’s a Lanxin Theater on Broadway in New York. You can look for the manager there. Just say Carlo, Carlo Leon sent you, and they’ll provide you with a long-term job."
Jenny looked at Tommy blankly, "Lanxin Theater? The Lanxin Theater on Broadway? You’re joking, that’s the musical theater of the famous movie star Diane Linn."
"I know, I’m a shareholder of the theater. If you think I’m joking, you can first look up the theater’s phone number online and check if it’s true. If it’s fake, then you can go to Fort Smith." Tommy parked the car on the side of the road in the small town of Niles, looked at Jenny, and stretched out his hand:
"Thank you for your words. Consider this job as payment for keeping me company on this drive. If you feel bad about it, the next time I take someone else to watch a musical at the Lanxin Theater, find another man to force you to use your breasts to keep this old man’s palms warm."
Seeing Tommy stop the car, John Page caught up from behind, returned the woman’s phone and other personal belongings to her, and said expressionlessly:
"Your carpool driver voluntarily took out a loan at KeyBank to pay for your first-class plane ticket to New York. The limit wasn’t enough, but KeyBank kindly raised his limit temporarily. Next time you choose a carpool, remember not to pick a cheap rider who has a criminal record for forcing women."
Jenny looked back at the SUV, the unlucky Harley rider still unconscious and foaming at the mouth. She then took Tommy’s outstretched hand, "Thank you, sir."
Tommy withdrew his hand, started the car, and as Jenny stood by the roadside, she suddenly asked him, "Sir, you’re actually going to see your daughter to apologize to her, right?"
"Not a chance." Tommy said without looking back, and the Range Rover sport roared off:
"Devils never repent."
