Chapter 148: Teacher Quin freewēbnoveℓ.com

Classes finally resumed, and Quin was set to replace Sally. Everyone made it into their class, and Quin came in a few minutes later. He walked in casually.

He walked in front of the board and stared at the entire class. "So this is the current state of things. Well, I’m your teacher for now.

The last few days have been beyond hectic for everyone; some classes lost their students. Luckily for us in Class A, none of us died.

But all that aside, before we get into the class, the academy has decided on something. You all have seen what a demonized can do and how strong they are.

Well, we believe you all need more experience, and as such, the academy has prepared the first-year class-wide activity," Quin said.

’Oh, it’s that time already? The class competition,’ Riven thought. He already knew what the activity was. He had initially thought it would no longer happen due to what occurred in the academy and how much the main story had changed.

"All of you will be going to a special place created by the academy, and all classes will be set against others in a set of different competitions through which they’ll gather points.

And there will also be one more thing: a select few of the second years will also be sent to that place, and their job is simply to sabotage your progress all around.

This will be happening by the end of the week on Friday, and so that gives you all a few days to prepare. The activities that will be taking place are ten in number, and each one will span approximately two days, and so that means you’ll be spending more than twenty days there.

The first activity will simply be a capture of your home base. Spread across the map will be flags in certain locations.

Each of these maps is located in a cabin, a cabin that can host all of you. But these cabins will be guarded by golems—stone golems, metal golems, and more. As for the number, I’m not allowed to tell you.

So your task on that day will be to firstly locate one of the bases. We have an equal number of bases to match all the classes.

But what is against you is time. The map is extremely massive and would take an average person a full day to walk across in a straight line.

Adding the terrain into consideration and the wild beasts that you might find around, you can be heavily slowed down.

Your class will have to find a base and secure there, as within the two days, any class can attack and take your base.

Now you must be wondering, how will they attack? Is killing allowed? Well, in a way yes, but attacks that can kill will immediately teleport the person out of the map and back to the academy. His death will overall impact the main score of everyone and also his personal score.

All you have to do is defend the base for two days, and it will be yours entirely from there on.

That’s just the first activity, and any class that is unable to find a base in the two days will all be eliminated right off the bat.

This is all I can tell you all about it for now. You’ll have to prepare. As for the remaining activities, they will come when the time comes.

You all better put your minds to it, because despite the fact that you can’t die, you’ll still feel pain that can make you run insane," Quin said.

Suddenly, Riven raised his hand. Quin looked at him and pointed. "Yes, Riven."

"Mr. Quin, I only have one question. Which of the second years will be after us?" he asked.

"Their Class A," Quin said.

Immediately he said that, Riven, along with everyone in the top ten, had a dark expression. They were already at war, but now the academy wanted to give them an actual battleground to battle it out.

’This never happened in the story—adding the second years to the competition. But I can’t say I hate it, no, if anything, this is the best opportunity that we have been given,’ Riven thought.

"If that’s all for the questions, then we will leave the matter for now," Quin said. His eyes lingered on Riven. He knew what was running through his mind, as he already knew about the war that was happening between the two classes.

Part of the reason they added the second years to the mix was because of the war they were already fighting. He wanted to see just how these first-year students would fare against their seniors.

"Alright, let’s get into the important topic of today: the effect of your spirit zone and how it impacts your use of mana as a whole," Quin said.

"I’m sure Sally already taught you all about spirit zones, and honestly, she was a good teacher—she just had to be a demon.

Your spirit zone is reinforced by continually using strong spells or mana within its range. Using it on repeat until you exhaust your mana is the best way to make your spirit zone stronger, from what I know.

Now, you have to be cautious and not push yourself too far, and make sure to rest after every day you use this technique. Mana fatigue is a dangerous situation.

Now, the way to increase the size of your spirit zone for the mages is similar, but instead of using mana within the range of your zone, you use it to press the edges of the zone, stretching it out more and more.

You keep pushing, but not roughly, and so slowly and steadily, you’ll increase the size of your spirit zone. That’s all for the class today. Your assignment is simple: practice what I’ve just said and also prepare for Friday," Quin said and walked out.

He had barely spent half the time that he was supposed to spend in the class, and he was already gone, but at least he had given them information that was very useful.
