Two men wearing hanfus walked along a long, luxurious. Both were pretty tall and looked like powerful individuals. However, one was noticeably younger, while the other was way past his prime.

"I got to say. This plan is the most idiotic and reckless I've ever heard! Victor really outdone himself this time!"

The older man glanced at his friend with curiosity. He didn't understand the reason for his freakout.

"Why, Yao? What's wrong with Victor's plan? Everyone seemed to go pale with fear when he mentioned releasing this Slayer… Who's he?" frёewebnoѵēl.com

Yao glanced at his friend in confusion. It took him a minute to remember the older man's lack of knowledge.

"Damn it Hu, I always forget how young you actually are! As a Stellar, you should look much younger than your real age! What went wrong with your Evolution?"

The older man named Hu simply chuckled and walked on with a straight back. While he looked much older than his actual age, his body was still extremely powerful, like any Stellar's.

"Yeah, well, it's not like I wanted to turn old upon Evolving! Luckily, I still look extremely handsome even and my stamina is at Stellar level!… Also, there are lots of young women who enjoy the company of older man!"

They both chuckled at his words. Sadly, the joyous mood didn't last long as Yao began talking about Slayer.

"It was ten years ago, and we kept it a secret, so most people don't even remember Slayer. However, every Master other than you knows about him."

A shiver went down Yao's spine just from recalling the documents about Slayer. He luckily never met the madman in person, but five other Stellars weren't so lucky.

"Why does every Master fear him? Isn't he just a powerful Transcended? I'm pretty sure any Stellar could fight and win against him!"

Yao couldn't help but chuckle at Hu's words. He sounded so naïve, and combined with his old voice, it painted a strange and hilarious picture.

"I'll get into that, but first let's talk about Slayer's past… His real name we never learned. Slayer was an unassuming man who loved violence. He had psychopathic tendencies, and supposedly he was a serial killer…"

"Many people fell victims to him and regular soldiers couldn't catch him, so we sent Evolved after him… Our first mistake, which would cost a great price later!"

Hu listened to his friend's words with deep curiosity. They continued walking along the empty corridors, Yao's voice gently echoing in the silent atmosphere.

"Slayer continued killing and after weeks of tracking him, Evolved began disappearing as well. As it turned out, Slayer was an Evolved too, but he didn't kill any monster, only humans… Tell me Hu. Do you know why it's forbidden to Evolve using your own species?"

The gravity in Yao's eyes gave a brief pause to Hu, but he quickly recovered and answered his question.

"Supposedly, it's not worth it and it also messes with the Evolved's mind. It can push someone further towards Madness, or just general insanity!"

Yao smirked, then glanced away with sadness evident in his eyes. He made a small nod of agreement, then continued with the explanation.

"Correct, but that's only true for sane people. Slayer was already insane, a psychopath. He only gained vast power from the Evolution!… Months passed with more pursuers dying, and eventually, Slayer actually began hunting his hunters!"

The younger-looking man laughed dryly, without amusement. The light glinted in his sad eyes.

"We sent squads of Evolved after him, then squads of Ascended and even a few Transcended. They all died by his hand, further fueling his strength. He stole the essence of the dead hunters and quickly rose in Rank until he reached Transcended."

He turned silent for a long moment, tears welling in his eyes. After taking one deep breath, Yao stopped walking and turned towards Hu with a hateful expression.

"On November 12th, 18 ATA, Slayer arrived in Daka. You probably never heard of this city-state, since we scrapped everything from the records. About 200 million regular humans lived there, but guess how many survived Slayer… Zero. Even the five Stellars we've sent lost their lives!"

Hu just stared at his friend, not fully grasping the meaning behind his words. He couldn't simply accept that a Transcended could do such destruction.

"H-how… How did a Transcended manage all that? What are his abilities?"

Yao smiled humorlessly. He knew exactly how unbelievable his words sounded, since he reacted similarly, when the news about Daka's destruction reached him.

"To be fair, he didn't achieve all this on his own. He waited for a Gate Opening, and when the soldiers showed up, he began hunting the Evolved. The Stellar though, that was all him. He has two abilities, which give him the edge in every battle!"

He began walking again, and Hu quickly followed, his full attention aimed at Yao.

"He can visualize everyone's movements to perfection, regardless of speed. He can also see one second into the future, so any he can evade or block any attack before the enemy even moves! His body is also much faster and stronger than an average Transcended's."

Hu sighed with exhaustion. With every word leaving Yao's mouth, he felt more and more stressful.

"But I don't understand. How did nobody catch him before the destruction? You must've been tracking him for a long time, so why didn't you send a Stellar before he reached Transcended Rank?"

Yao chuckled and snapped his fingers, pointing at Hu with amusement.

"We actually did! However, Slayer prevents tracking. His passive ability lets him sense any planned attack hours before it actually happens. He always avoided Stellars before Daka, but ambushed any weaker Evolved, gaining more power until Stellars became his new prey!"

Slowly, silence crept in, while Yao stayed occupied with his memories, and Hu thought through everything his friend said.

"Okay, I understand everything now, but how did you capture Slayer back then. If he can prevent tracking, while also powerful enough to kill Stellars, then how did he end up in a Seclusion Chamber?"

Hu still could hardly believe that such Chambers existed. Places where time went by much faster, yet nobody aged or died. It's hell for most people, but judging by Slayer's insanity, it would feel like heaven for him.

"It was pure luck. We knew the area he resided in, and we walked around the place until we eventually bumped into him. This way, his Danger Sense didn't get triggered, since we weren't planning on attacking him."

This time, a genuine smile appeared on Yao's lips as he recalled that beautiful day.

"The fight against him still wasn't easy, but using a few unpredictable combinations of our abilities, we overwhelmed and captured him. However, ten years ago we placed him in this Seclusion Chamber, then left him unattended."

Hu blinked at his friend in shock. His face visibly went paler as calculations went down behind his eyes.

"He spent ten years in there?… That's… That's nearly 90.000 years?! Can his mind even survive for that long? He should've gone fully comatose years ago!"

Yao smirked as they turned into the corridor with the Seclusion Chambers. Slayer's was the very last. Since nobody could open the Chamber without authority, nobody guarded the door.

"Good advice before you meet Slayer. Never underestimate him! Many did before you, and they're all dead… Anyway, Victor checked on him earlier. He was perfectly fine supposedly and even agreed to help us."

Slowly, they made their way towards the large red door leading to Slayer's Seclusion Chamber.

"Do you actually believe he's willing to help? He could easily be lying to escape his prison! What if the moment we open this door, he attacks us?"

They stopped before the red door. After sharing a quick glance, Yao smiled widely and menacingly, then stepped towards the panel beside the Chamber. He began typing different codes in while answering Hu's question.

"If he tries anything, we just fight him. That's why I brought you! His powers probably won't work on someone who can somewhat manipulate his own time…"

"Let's just hope everything goes well and we don't need to fight him. Victor seemed awfully confident in his ability to control this maniac… Okay, I'm opening the Chamber. Step back just in case!"

Hu nodded and took a deep breath. He stepped back and prepared to summon his weapon if necessary. Yao pressed a button, and the large red door opened with a hiss.

Light brightened the Seclusion Chamber as the gap widened, and soon both men could see inside.

Seclusion Chambers had no furniture inside, or at least they didn't supposed to have any… However, Slayer sat on a large red throne, facing the doorway.

He wore nothing but a blood-red robe, which hid most of his body, including his face.

The floor, walls and ceiling were all painted red, and since they hadn't given paint to Slayer, it seemed he got creative…

"Do you like my design choices? I didn't like the white walls, so I used my blood to paint it!"

Slayer's scratchy voice sent shivers down both men's spines. Hu hid his trembling hands behind his back, but it seemed Slayer could smell their fear.

"What about my throne? It took a few hundred years, but I think I did a fine job!"

Suddenly, Slayer moved so quickly even the Stellars could barely follow him… Mostly because of the terror rooted in their bones…

He stepped before Yao and leaned forward, whispering into his ear.

"Did you know, if you only remove part of your bones, they can still regenerate! Wonderful, isn't it? I used my bones to build the throne and then painted it with my blood, like everything else!"

The terrifying man then moved on from Yao and stepped towards Hu. He smelt the surrounding air, the grin on his face widening unnaturally.

With one hand, Slayer reached into his blood-red robe and pulled out a piece of uncooked meat.

"Oh, how rude of me! You came to my home, yet I forgot to offer food!… Want a taste?"

Slayer moved the piece of meat closer to Hu, and he had to swallow back his vomit. After a few seconds, Slayer simply shrugged, raised the meat to his lips, and bit out a sizeable chunk.

Since they had given no food to Slayer after locking him inside, there was only one source where the meat could've come from… The madman was eating his own flesh!

As the realization appeared in Hu's eyes, Slayer's grin widened again, blood dripping from his lips.

With a quick turn, he glanced along the empty corridor. His robe flapped from the quick movement, causing both men to glance at it.

They didn't give him any clothes either, which meant… Slayer wore his own flayed skin as a robe…

He chuckled with insanity upon noticing the pure horror on the faces of the Stellars. Slowly, he began walking down the corridor, causing Yao and Hu to scramble after him.

Slayer continued laughing and giggling.

He was finally free! After all these years locked inside, he finally got out!

His fierce bloody eyes scanned the empty corridors, like a beast released upon the world!
