Angel Monarch-Chapter 594: Leaving Earth Behind
From the spectating area, not much could be discerned. They watched as Vicky and Henry both turned into ravens, then as Sera kneeled before Victor, and finally the bright Angelic figure taking her away with both Bea and Faith following through the portal.
A moment of silence passed, nobody certain what to do next. However, Damien was quick to recall Sera's plan, which meant it was time to evacuate. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
He and Agnes stood a few steps away from Nick, Jo and the other teenagers tasked to look after them. They hurried to the children, about to order Lin to teleport everyone away, when a strong wind made them stumble.
The entire bleachers shook as something massive landed behind Damien and Agnes.
Luckily, most spectators had already evacuated through the portals Vicky reopened when Victor first appeared. This meant only a couple dozen people were crushed by the pair of giant draconic feet that landed on the spectating area.
While the ground shook, a loud roar shook everyone's bones. Damien and Agnes both jumped to their feet, just as the massive dragon turned into a human with well-groomed black hair, dressed elegantly.
His gray eyes glinted with unbridled anger as he stepped forward faster than any of them could've reacted. He spun around, and swiped using his black, scaly tail's dagger-like protrusion.
Neither Damien nor Agnes had a chance to react as the dagger slashed through their necks, beheading both instantly.
Blood rained on Nick and the others. However, Sera's child reacted quickly, understanding the situation before anyone else. He grabbed Jo and pulled her into a hug, hiding the young girl below his wings.
Thankfully, he was fast enough, so Jo didn't see her parents' heads landed near her feet.
"NO!" came an angry shout from above, as Cass landed beside her adoptive parents' corpses. David landed beside her soon after, while the others also arrived one-by-one.
Wukong attacked quickly, taking Amaterasu, Elizabeth and Valerie's attention away. It required all three to hold back the Monkey.
The others went after Otto, who simply chuckled upon seeing Cass weep. A pair of Stellars appeared beside him, Napoleon's lackeys. Together, they held back all of Sera's group, while their leader arrived.
As the chaos ensued, Victor stepped onto the bleachers, both ravens still perched on his shoulders. He looked quite annoyed, since his plans failed despite his perfect planning.
His dark eyes glanced over the five children, then settled on his son's, Lin's face. The child might've inherited his mother's beauty, Asian features and white hair, but those dark blue, nearly black eyes... their origin couldn't be denied...
Victor stepped forward, reaching out towards's Lin's terrified form. Thea and Lydia both jumped before the Ethereal defensively, while suddenly the air rippled and a portal opened where Victor's wrist was.
Blood spurted from the stub where his hand once was. Victor cursed from the sudden pain and backed away from the kids. The stub healed within moments, giving the attacker enough time to appear before the children.
Xinya's dark blue eyes stayed focused on Victor, ignoring her son's trembling voice as he called her name. She took a shaky breath and pointed her dao at Victor.
"I should've killed you long ago," he whispered, voice tinged with pure hatred. "Do you honestly believe someone so weak could keep me from taking back my son?"
He raised his cane to hit the ground, but in that moment another portal opened, cutting the dark wood in two. After slashing the air, Xinya moved her sword in its original position, then her beautiful face twisted with venom as she spat on the ground.
"You think you're his father?" She asked rhetorically with a humorless chuckle. "You're nothing but a sperm donor and a rapist! I'll never let you lay a hand on MY son ever again!"
Victor shook his head and sighed. He glanced to the side, where Otto fought Yvonne and Astrid.
Above them, a few ravens flew and turned into humans. A man wearing an old-fashioned uniform, a tall, arrogant-looking woman in dark leather armor, a gaunt man wearing a long robe, and an extremely handsome man with dark pink hair.
All four Stellars, who caused massive destruction all across Europe, now came to end this war once and for all.
Suddenly, the overwhelming force of the Angelic Order faced a matching threat. Whatever Victor did to them, it enhanced their natural power. They could hold their ground even against irregulars like Sera's friends.
A moment ago, victory was only seconds away, but now the outcome became uncertain. Time was running out, and they only had one way to escape.
Xinya glanced back at her son and spoke in a commanding tone...
"Lin, teleport everyone away now! Save them!"
With that, she rushed forward and attacked Victor. The gentlemen simply chuckled and entertained Xinya by evading all her attacks. Even when she cut open space, he moved much quicker. A Transcended simply had no chance against an Ethereal...
Back on the nearby battlefield, Yvonne held off Otto with Kim and Adam's help, while Astrid shielded everyone and quickly typed on her watch.
'Astrid: How much longer?'
'James: Just a few more moments! Mary's done on her side! I just need to overwrite the generator's original purpose!'
Astrid took a deep breath, her golden eyes gazing onto the battlefield with melancholy. They eventually settled on Yvonne. A single teardrop moved down her cheek as she whispered, "I'm sorry..."
Yvonne barely paid attention to anything, since she needed all her concentration while fighting against Otto. She rolled to the side as the elegant man breathed his dark flames.
Suddenly, a powerful wind pushed the flames back into his face as Sarah appeared to help in the battle against her brother.
These small skirmishes happened all around the arena. It was pure chaos, yet Lin's eyes focused on everyone he needed to save... It was his mother's order after all, and if he did everything perfectly, he could save everyone!
With a flicker of hope in his heart, Lin closed his eyes and summoned a bunch of glowing, light blue, ethereal ravens. However, the moment they flew towards the first people nearby, Victor's voice resounded over the Colosseum...
"Spiritual Disruption!"
All the ravens exploded into sparks of light as Lin fell to his knees, breathing heavily. A powerful agony erupted in his mind, but pushing through the pain, he glanced up at her mother's blurry form.
Her precise slashes and thrusts all went wide. The portals she opened didn't matter as Victor evaded everything.
However, after dodging hundreds of blows, he got bored. Out of nowhere, he blocked Xinya's sword arm, which broke all the bones within. With her hand broken, she lost grip of her sword, causing it to fly into the air and land near Lydia.
In the next moment, Victor grabbed Xinya's next. He leaned in close and whispered something in her before, but all Lin could hear was the pumping blood in his mind.
He heard someone scream 'NO!' as Victor kissed his mother's forehead, and squeezed his hand. Xinya's head and body fell onto the ground with a sickening squelch, just as Victor stepped towards the group of children again.
Lin hyperventilated, unable to process the death of his mother. His eyes began glowing with a dark blue color. He couldn't bring himself to summon more ravens, but... he had two already summoned!
On both Lydia and Thea's shoulders, a pair of ethereal ravens appeared. He commanded them both with his mind to fly near each of his friends and open portals to unknown places.
In this situation, the best he could do was teleporting everyone away from immediate danger. He only hoped the portals would open to some place inhabited, so they would at least have a chance of survival.
Cass still sobbed as a portal opened below her. David, Melinda and Yannick stood nearby defending her. Portals opened near them too, which they jumped through without question.
Lucy, Leslie and Will all fought near each other, and upon seeing the ethereal raven, they each flew through different portals.
Higher above the arena, only a single portal opened for Valerie, Elizabeth and Amaterasu. First, the two Queens of London fell through, then the Queen of the Sun tried to follow, but Wukong caught her arm, holding her back.
However, his attempted at hindering Amaterasu's escape failed miserably. Instead of keeping her on Earth, the tan woman chuckled and pulled the Monkey through the portal. Wherever it led, she didn't care. Wukong would pay for betraying her!
Yvonne, Kim, Adam and Sarah still kept back Otto, and now the other Stellars began heading their way. When portals opened around them, Adam and Kim jumped through one each instantly.
Sarah kept on fighting her brother. She didn't even try escaping, while Yvonne rushed towards Astrid.
She reached out to push her girlfriend through the nearby portal, but in that moment, the Valkyrie did something unforgiveable. Astrid evaded Yvonne's grab and kicked her in the side.
The tall woman went flying through the portal, her metallic eyes full of confusion and betrayal. She looked back at Astrid, who sobbed as the portal shut closed.
Astrid wasn't a selfish person, and even though she didn't like to talk, she was quite perceptive. She knew how Sarah felt towards her brothers and had no intention of escaping. Then there were James and Mary...
They were both below the arena, rigging the Aegis System generator to self-destruct, which hopefully killed every Stellar. She doubted Victor would even feel the explosion, but every dead enemy counted.
Sadly, this meant James and Mary would perish in the explosion, the same as Sarah... Astrid didn't want them to die. In her mind, one sacrifice was worth more than three...
The ethereal ravens returned to Lin and opened a portal below each. Hestia stayed close to Nick, who still kept Jo hidden under his wings. The Hob couldn't fight, but she could definitely help Nick and Jo survive by providing information and emotional support.
When everyone disappeared and all the portals closed, Astrid closed her eyes and concentrated on James, Mary and Sarah. Her watch soon beeped as a message appeared...
'James: Explosion imminent... It was nice knowing you...'
The message never reached Astrid as she focused all her vast pool of Essence on these three individuals. A powerful golden shield appeared around each just as the arena began to rumble.
Victor glanced down with a raised eyebrow, then turned into a cloud of feathers, taking away both Vicky and Henry from the Colosseum, essentially saving their lives.
Underground, James and Mary hugged each other, while the generator overheated and melted. Sirens beeped, but neither heard anything. They thought the sound disappeared because they died, yet upon opening their eyes, they saw a golden shield defending them from the explosion.
"She... She saved us..." whispered James in shock as tears flowed down his face. Even Mary's usually emotionless face revealed immense sadness. Her lips trembled as a lone tear made its way down her cheek.
Sarah was just as shocked. From behind the powerful golden shield, she stared at Astrid's blurry form, kneeling defenselessly on the ground. She used all her Essence to save the three of them three, leaving nothing for herself.
All the previous fight left Sarah's body as she fell to her knees, sobs shaking her body. The pain consuming her heart was unbearable until suddenly everything brightened...
Astrid glanced towards the arena's center, where a massive explosion approached. Her face remained peaceful, with a melancholic smile stretching across her face.
"I love you... Yvon—" before she could've finished her sentence, the white flames consumed her body, vaporizing her instantly.
Victor reappeared a few dozen kilometers away, watching the horizon. Vicky and Henry both floated beside him in raven form, staring in the same direction.
First, a powerful shockwave moved across the land, unearthing any tree and leveling mountaintops. Then a flash of light ignited on the horizon, blinding any creature watching with naked eyes.
The clouds above also disappeared as the horizon became brighter, a mushroom cloud stretching higher and higher, until it went past even Earth's atmosphere.
A white wall of fire approached Victor's position rapidly, burning everything in its path. The wall stretched multiple kilometers in the air, and had no signs of slowing, forcing Victor to move further away.
Eventually, he floated above the Adriatic Sea, about 140 kilometers from the explosion site.
As the wall of flames approached the sea, it was already diminished and slowing down. It still evaporated a great deal of water, but the giant moat of water finally stopped its ever consuming destruction.
Below them, the ground looked like a massive glowing pool of lava. The entire Baltic Peninsula continued shaking for a few hours, which meant the explosion probably even damaged the tectonic plates.
Victor sighed while watching the destroyed land, uncertain of the consequences of this immense destruction.
From above, a massive shadow moved across the sky, a black dragon with gray eyes, clutching two glowing golden orbs in its arms. Lava dripped from his wings, but the heat didn't seem to bother the gigantic creature.
The day was less than successful, but at the end, only one question remained on Victor's mind...
"Who was that bright Angel?"
