Angle's Arrogance? My Pact with the Succubus Queen!-Chapter 241: Philip’s Chance to Come Back to Life!
Long hair, a delicate face, her eyes were closed, looking exactly like Amara.
But when you looked closer, she was even fairer and cleaner than the Amara in Logan’s memory.
Logan pulled a bit of life energy from the life crystal on his forehead and mixed it into that blue light, wrapping it around Amara’s soul fragment.
The fragment absorbed the energy, becoming more solid and complete bit by bit.
After ten minutes or so, it had become a complete spirit body.
Amara’s soul floated in the air, eyes closed, as if sleeping. Her body was semi-transparent, glowing softly with a white light.
The Ancestral Spirits girl pulled her hand back and said, "Okay, the soul is stable. Now we need a body."
Logan looked at the moss blanket around them.
Under the girl’s control, the moss began to move and form a ball.
The fungus threads crossed and formed a skeleton first, then added muscles, and finally covered with skin. A body exactly matching the spirit emerged from the moss.
At first, it looked naked, but soon fungus threads wove clothes over it—a simple white dress, very plain.
Logan pushed Amara’s spirit into the body. As soon as the spirit touched the body, it merged in.
The body gave a slight shudder and then went still. Soon, its chest started to rise and fall, and it began to breathe.
Amara opened her eyes, blinked, and her gaze was a little empty.
She sat up, looked at her hands, then looked around, and finally her eyes landed on Logan’s face: "...Logan?"
Logan nodded.
Amara stayed silent for a few seconds, then stood up and walked to Logan: "According to our clan’s rules, a life saved must be repaid with a lifetime."
Amara said this while kneeling down, pressing her forehead to the ground, "I’m willing to be your wife, serve you, cook for you, until I die."
She spoke in a flat, emotionless way, like she was reading a rule. Logan was a bit surprised.
Solon and Camilla were also shocked, but Logan quickly came back to his senses and said: "I saved you for my own reasons."
His voice didn’t change much. "I accept your loyalty, but we don’t have to follow the bone clan’s rules. What I want is a partner to fight with, not a wife."
Amara stood up, still looking at Logan, but she nodded. "I understand, Master. From now on, my life and my thoughts will all be yours."
Logan didn’t say anything else. His mind was already on the spirit emblem in his pocket.
General Philip’s complete soul was sleeping inside.
This body, made by fungi and life energy, was like a lightning bolt cutting through the darkness. It lit a crazy idea in his heart — to bring Philip back to life.
As soon as the thought came, it caused a big wave in his soul.
Inside the blood tree armor, the 108 soul clones that had been quiet for a long time all went wild. A flood of desire and excitement rushed up.
They all cried out, wanting their own real bodies so they could live completely again.
"Stay calm." Logan used his will to push down the noise. He muttered quietly: "Not yet. The war is almost over, but there’s still a lot of mess to deal with."
He put the emblem back and turned to look at the dark tunnel that led back to the surface.
The Ancestral Spirits girl stood quietly next to him. Her long blue hair floated on its own, and her clean eyes were watching the world she had just powered through, full of curiosity.
"Let’s go." Logan said to the others. "It’s time to see the sun again. And let everyone know the war is over."
Solon and Camilla exchanged a look, holding back their confusion and shock, and followed silently.
General Darwin’s mechanical eye kept flashing, recording data. Natalia stood nearby, watching carefully.
They stepped through the tunnel covered in ash and returned to the surface. The sunlight was a bit bright, shining on the ruined Golden Sand City.
Between the broken walls and broken bricks, the air was full of smoke, blood, and the sweet, sickly smell of rotting fungus.
In the distance, the huge Blood Cultivation Realm that General Augustus had created was slowly disappearing. He lay on a stretcher, his face as pale as paper, but his chest was still rising and falling. The medical team was rushing to save him.
Further away, the Pinocchini squad led by Taliban was gathered under a half-collapsed wall. Everyone was injured and tired, but they kept their eyes on Logan, especially on the Ancestral Spirits girl behind him and the reborn Amara. Their eyes lingered on them for a few seconds.
The Blade Squad’s communication came back to life after a long silence. Their voices sounded shocked and confused, like they couldn’t believe what they had just heard: "Bone clan... all life signals are gone! Repeat, all Bone Clan units in Golden Sand City are confirmed wiped out!"
Logan walked toward the temporary command center. His steps were steady. He knew that the real "post-war work" had just begun.
His phone buzzed in his pocket. The screen had no number—just static and a crackling sound.
Then the crackling turned into a familiar, mysterious voice: "Congratulations, Logan. Signing a pact with an ancient life, turning a dead end into a win... you always manage to surprise me."
Logan stopped walking. He answered the phone in a calm voice: "Your [device monitoring] is pretty punctual."
The crackling had no emotion: "Just a necessary watch. So, what about that invitation you gave me before? Have you thought about it yet?"
"Pinocchini’s door is always open for you. About your bloodline, about the secrets in your soul, even that ’resurrection’ thing you’ve been thinking about... here, you’ll get more and deeper answers than anywhere else."
Logan looked up, taking in the ruined city in front of him and the distant, unclear horizon.
He really did need power, information, and some real clues to untangle the mysteries around his past and future.
"I need time." Logan said clearly. "Six months. After I take care of the Federation’s leftovers, I’ll go to Pinocchini."
There was a short silence on the other end, as if the voice was thinking or talking to someone else.
"Alright, we’ll wait for you in six months. Looking forward to you coming, Logan... and your new [partner]."
The communication ended. Logan put his phone away and felt the complicated looks from Solon, Natalia, and the others behind him.
He didn’t explain. He just kept walking. He knew too well how much the human Federation had paid in this battle.
If he could, he’d want to stay here forever. But he knew he couldn’t.
...
Inside the temporary command center, the air was heavy and tense. Everyone was running around, busy as hell.
The initial casualty numbers had come in. Each name on the list represented a life and a lot of blood.
Logan sat in a corner, listening as Solon gave a preliminary report to the Federation’s higher-ups. The report couldn’t avoid talking about the [Ancestral Spirits contract] and the [resurrection of the dead].
"...That’s the general situation. The Ancestral Spirits have been successfully bonded and controlled by Logan. The threat is completely gone."
"Also, during the bonding process, using the energy of the Ancestral Spirits and some special methods, Amara from the Bone Clan was able to rebuild her body and woke up."
"Detailed reports and analysis will be submitted later."
There was a long silence on the other end of the communication.
Clearly, these two pieces of news hit harder and were more complicated than winning a battle.
After the report, Solon rubbed his temples and looked at Logan: "The higher-ups and the Temple want more detailed reports, especially on the nature of the Ancestral Spirits, the assessment of control, and... the ethics and risks involved in the resurrection technology."
Logan nodded. "Got it. I’ll have Yelena prepare the report as soon as possible. The Ancestral Spirits are currently stable and the bond is solid."
He paused for a moment. "As for Amara’s situation, it’s pretty special. It can’t be easily copied."
He didn’t mention his thoughts about possibly bringing General Philip back to life. It wasn’t the right time to talk about it.
Camilla General continued to assign post-battle tasks: clearing the battlefield, collecting usable supplies, taking care of the wounded, and starting to plan the cleanup of the ruins. Everyone was busy, using work to push down the sadness and exhaustion.
Pinocchini squad came to say goodbye. Taliban remained as quiet as ever: "Mission complete. We have to go back right away to report. Logan, see you in six months at Pinocchini."
He gave a quick look at the Ancestral Spirits girl next to Logan. There was a little thinking in his eyes, but in the end, he just nodded.
After this battle, the strong people from the human Federation had earned their respect.
Knox now had a new fighting knife, made by the human Federation.
Sanchez was still weak, and Harper helped Quinn walk, but they were all excitedly talking and saying goodbye to the Blade Squad members.
Until everyone had shaken hands and hugged, Taliban finally turned and left with his team, disappearing into the shadows of the ruins.
Three days later, a simple and solemn group funeral was held outside the Golden Sand City.
White stone markers stood in rows, like a quiet forest.
General Augustus was still unconscious, but his vital signs had stabilized.
At the funeral, Logan gently placed a medal representing the highest honor of the Federation on the wooden coffin of General Philip.
The cold feel of the medal made his desire to get stronger clearer and stronger.
After the ceremony, Logan found Natalia and General Darwin.
"I need to leave for a while." he said directly. "I’m going into seclusion."
"This battle, the contract with the Ancestral Spirits, and bringing Amara back... they all pushed my understanding of souls and life energy to a new level."
"I need time to process everything. It also has to do with what I’m going to do in Pinocchini."
Natalia frowned. "Seclusion? Where? For how long?"
"At least six months." Logan said, and handed General Darwin a stack of papers. "While I’m in seclusion, I’ll leave the research on Novan’s experimental data and the check-up of Amara’s body to you."
He glanced at Amara and the Ancestral Spirits girl, who were quietly waiting nearby. "They’ll fully cooperate with your research. The goal is to master and stabilize the technology of merging soul and artificial body. It’s a path we may have to take in the future."
