Angle's Arrogance? My Pact with the Succubus Queen!-Chapter 243: Resurrection, But Shadow Beings Rise in Secret!
Logan laughed, "Is that so? Then try it."
He raised his right hand, fingers curled loosely.
A hum filled the air, and ripples spread out.
"Slime Battle Style – Thousandfold Space Cut." Logan muttered, and the skill activated instantly.
The masked man’s eyes widened in shock. He felt the space around him become razor-sharp, like countless invisible blades.
"Get out of the way!" he shouted.
But it was too late. The Space Cut was already complete.
The five Legend-stage, 5-star warriors froze at the same time, then were torn apart and broken down like pieces of paper.
Blood splattered and landed on the lake’s surface.
The masked man stood still, trembling uncontrollably. He had watched his five companions be killed in an instant, with no chance to fight back.
Logan lowered his hand and looked at him. "Now it’s your turn."
The masked man turned to run, but as soon as he took a step, his body was frozen in place by an invisible power—[Space Restriction].
Logan teleported in front of him and asked coldly: "Who sent you? Where’s Novan?"
The masked man gritted his teeth, "I won’t tell you!"
Logan nodded, "Then there’s no need to keep you alive."
He said that, then tapped his finger. A Space Cut cut through.
The masked man’s body exploded instantly, turning into a cloud of blood.
The battle was over in less than three minutes. All thirty remaining members of The Night Watchman were wiped out.
The lake surface returned to calm, but the thick smell of blood filled the air.
At that moment, the sound of something breaking through the air came from the distance.
Natalia, Darwin, Yelena, and Fischl arrived with the members of Red Flower Guild.
They had received the alarm, but they were too late—the battle was already over.
Natalia landed and looked at the bodies on the ground. Her face showed shock. "Logan, you...?"
Darwin was also stunned. He had expected a tough fight, but the result was a complete one-sided destruction.
Logan turned around, as if he had just done something very small. He spoke in a calm tone: "It’s done."
Natalia walked over to a body and crouched down. She used her Mental Power to scan it.
Soon, she frowned. "Something’s wrong. Their DNA was modified. They weren’t just humans."
Darwin came over and scanned another body. He nodded and confirmed, "Yes. The modification was very advanced. It merged with some kind of alien energy."
Darwin took a small amount of the remaining energy and carefully analyzed it. His face turned serious. "This is... a type of energy I’ve never seen before. Cold, strange, and full of corruption. I’ll call it [Shadow Energy]."
Logan’s eyes flickered. "Shadow Energy? Is it connected to the energy on Novan?"
Darwin nodded. "Most likely. The characteristics of this energy match exactly with the description of [Shadow Beings] in Novan’s research. It can parasitize, control, and change the host."
Natalia stood up, her voice heavy. "It seems Novan isn’t dead. And he’s mastered this dangerous technology."
Logan stayed silent.
He looked toward Saint Heart City, his eyes deep.
Just during the fight, he had sensed a special wave coming from Saint Heart City. Though weak, it was very clear.
There was no doubt about it. That was the smell of [Shadow Beings], and not just one place. At least ten different spots were spread throughout Saint Heart City.
The strongest one was right in the Prime Minister’s office at the Federation Parliament building.
"Newson..." Logan muttered to himself.
He understood now—Novan wasn’t dead. He had taken control of the Prime Minister, Newson.
Or maybe, the Newson standing before him was actually Novan.
The attack earlier had just been a test. The real danger was still hidden deep inside Saint Heart City.
"Logan, what’s wrong?" Natalia noticed his strange expression.
Logan took his eyes off the distance and said calmly, "Nothing. I just found something interesting."
Novan was hiding in the shadows, controlling the top leaders of the Federation.
The [Shadow Beings] had already started to spread. They needed to find all the [Shadow Beings] as soon as possible, or the Federation would collapse from the inside.
"General Darwin." Logan said, "I need you to continue studying this energy."
"I want to know everything about it—especially how to detect and remove it."
Darwin nodded. "Got it."
Logan turned to Natalia next. "Strengthen the defense at Star Lake. Also, send people to watch Saint Heart City."
Natalia nodded. "Don’t worry, I have my own eyes there."
After the plans were set, Logan turned back and walked into the underground space. The entrance slowly closed, and the lake returned to calm.
In Saint Heart City, inside the Prime Minister’s office of the Federation Parliament building,
Newson stood by the window, looking toward Star Lake. A cold smile formed on his lips. "Logan, you really are hard to kill."
He whispered to himself, "But it’s okay. This will just make the game more fun."
He turned, picked up the phone, and dialed a number. He only said two words: "Go."
The voice on the other end replied respectfully, "Yes. Proceed as planned."
After hanging up, Newson sat back down. His fingers tapped lightly on the table, slow and full of pressure.
"Logan, do you think you won the first round?" he said to himself, his voice filled with mockery. "No, this is just the beginning. The real fight is just starting. I’ll show you what real despair is!"
In the office, thick shadows began to move like living things. They slowly spread, seeping into the walls and the floor, spreading throughout the whole building.
The [Shadow Beings] were spreading quietly, growing, and taking root.
...
Underground space.
Logan stood in the center. Before him was Yepera’s skeleton, with the Hero’s Emblem and the Life Energy Crystal placed next to it.
He didn’t start his retreat right away. Instead, he first prepared for the resurrection of General Philip.
Logan called out Kerparos and ordered, "Tell the Supervisory Council agents to search all nearby Blood Cultivation Realms, catch monster cubs, collect corpses—more is better."
Kerparos nodded and said: "Understood!"
It turned around and disappeared from the underground space.
Soon, there was noise outside the underground area.
The Supervisory Council agents started their mission. They were all top soldiers. Even the weakest among them was at Master stage 4 star. They could easily deal with ordinary Blood Cultivation Realm monsters.
Logan wasn’t idle either. He walked over to the skeleton, touched it, and sent his soul power in again.
This time, it wasn’t to analyze the runes. It was to try to activate it.
A hum rang out. The skeleton glowed, and more than a hundred decoded runes lit up at the same time, forming a small magic circle.
The purpose of this magic circle was to gather energy, drawing nearby life energy into the center.
Logan spoke again. "Ancestral Spirits, release the mycelium and build a life transmission channel."
Ancestral Spirits nodded and clasped his hands together.
Green light poured out from her body. Countless tiny threads of fungi extended out, wrapping around the magic circle.
Soon, the entire magic circle was covered with a network of green fungi, and life energy began to flow through it.
The preparations were complete. After staring for twenty-four hours, Kerparos reported: "Master, the agents are back. We caught five thousand monster cubs and collected thirty thousand corpses. All are stored in the outer warehouse."
Logan nodded. "Start the ritual."
The black ant army quickly arranged the monster cubs and corpses, and the ritual circle was set up.
Logan sat down in the center of the magic circle, crossed his legs, and made the hand sign to start the ritual.
Boom!
The underground space shook.
In the outer warehouse, the piles of monster corpses began to melt, turning into pure life energy. They flowed along the fungal channels, rushing into the magic circle.
Logan was surrounded by green light. The energy poured into his body like a wave.
But he didn’t absorb it. Instead, he guided all the powerful energy toward the Hero’s Emblem floating in midair.
The emblem gave off a faint glow. Philip’s soul was sleeping inside.
As life energy kept flowing in, the soul slowly began to wake up. The process was slow, but the results were clear.
General Philip’s body was becoming real again, from something vague to something solid.
Logan closed his eyes and focused his mind.
At the same time, at the headquarters of the Military Committee.
General Darwin was at his desk when his communicator suddenly rang. It was Natalia.
Natalia said over the comms: "Old man, there’s something happening at Star Lake. Logan has started a big ritual. Looks like he’s trying to bring Philip back."
Darwin stood up quickly, his face full of excitement. "Is it finally starting?"
He had been waiting for this moment for a long time.
Philip was his best friend and fellow soldier.
When Philip died, Darwin had always felt guilty.
Now, with a chance to bring him back, how could he not be excited? He immediately replied, "I’m coming right away!"
He hung up the call and rushed out of his office. He told the officer, "Get the car ready. Go to Star Lake! Also, call Claude and Monet and tell them to come too. There’s an important mission."
The officer nodded and said, "Yes, sir!"
Ten minutes later, Darwin got into the car and headed to Star Lake as fast as possible.
On the way, he called Claude.
"Claude, are you there?"
"Yes, General." Claude’s voice came through.
Darwin ordered, "Go to Star Lake with Monet. Logan is bringing Philip back. Once it’s done, you two will teach the method for building the ’Spirit Palace.’"
Claude answered seriously, "Understood. We’re on our way."
The call ended. Darwin looked out the window, his eyes full of hope. He whispered, "Philip, hold on. We’re coming soon."
In the underground space of Star Lake, the ritual was now at its most critical stage.
The Life Energy had completely filled the Hero’s Emblem. Philip’s soul was fully awake. Now came the next step—rebuilding his body.
Logan opened his eyes and looked at Ancestral Spirits. He said, "Let’s start the second step."
