Chapter 144: Fate

"Does that mean yes, sir?" Atlas asked, just to be sure.

Hermes stroked Atlas’ hair, even though he was still naked when he heard these words, and then said, "You will still earn my gift when you wake up. Now go."

With the smile on Hermes’ face, Atlas’ consciousness began to collapse instantly. His eyes darkened and he regained consciousness with Selene holding him.

Before he realised what was happening, Selene began to carry Atlas in her arms like a baby. After a short time, she magically removed his clothes and threw him into the bathroom.

Before Atlas realised what was happening, Selene calmly said, "Every hour you spend here will be spent in the real world for a maximum of one minute. You haven’t relaxed for a long time, get some rest."

Before Atlas even thought about what to say, Artemis covered his mouth, entered the bathroom next to him, and said, "Shut up for once, Atlas."

Everyone burst into laughter as Atlas realised that his whole soul was indeed beginning to relax and Hermes picked up his harp again and started playing music.

This would go on for hours.

By the time Atlas returned to the real world, only ten minutes had passed.

He felt more pure than ever. When he focused on his body, he was able to realise the huge amount of aura energy and mana in his body.

[You bathed in the bath of the gods for ten hours. Being in a place covered in nectar for that long, of course, allowed energy to flow from your soul to your real body.]

Atlas was surprised when he saw the sudden message sent by Nyx and said, "How nice..." with a smile so pure that even the gods and goddesses saw it for the first time of him smiling like that.

Atlas was rejoicing with the possibility of Michael’s rescue.

He was surrounded by these thoughts and started to look at the school district where heavy snowfall was occurring through the window in his room when suddenly a system window formed in front of him:

[Quick Discharge(Legendary+++++/Active)

Quick Discharge was an aura technique created by the god Hermes for his younger brother Apollo’s weapon. Hermes created this ability because young Apollo enjoyed using his brother’s staff like a spear.

When the user uses the ability, the speed of a discharge that shoots out of the weapon in his hand will increase by 1000%.

When the user uses the ability, they will gain 1%-12% aura attack power depending on their aura level along with the speed bonus.

When the user uses the ability, the aura release will be ’minimum’ but the damage will be like the ’maximum’ aura cost.

The user gains 30 Agility stat.

The user gains 20 Strength stat.

The user gains 20 Endurance].

With the system window Atlas saw, he realised with relief that Hermes had kept his promise. As he lay back down on his bed, he finally realised that his physical body also needed sleep, and without thinking, he put his head on the pillow and closed his eyes.

When he opened his eyes again, he realised that he was not in his room.

When he looked around to understand what was going on, he obviously could not understand anything. His gaze was constantly turning elsewhere, but he could not see anything except the void of space covered with stars and galaxies in front of him.

"Welcome."

He suddenly heard an old, tired voice welcoming him. When he turned his head and looked where the voice was coming from, he saw a strange old man with a black cane in his hand, wearing red coloured glasses, black eyes and black hair.

Even if he couldn’t understand exactly what was going on, he could of course realise that he was dreaming.

When he stood up and looked at the old man, it didn’t take him long to say ’Welcome.’

When the old man heard these words, he gently pointed to a place with his hand, and then two seats with very good comfort appeared where he pointed.

"Please come in, sit down," the old man said immediately.

Atlas listened eagerly to the old man, even though he was still confused, and sat down on the left of the seats and then waited.

The seats were very, very comfortable as he thought. He felt like he was sitting on cotton.

The old man, just like him, started to look at Atlas when he sat down and after a short time he said, "I guess you didn’t expect to be here, young man."

Atlas shook his head when he heard the words of the old man in front of him, and then questioned, "Yes, I didn’t expect...Who exactly are you?"

The old man looked at Atlas with a smiling face after these words, and immediately after that, as gently as possible, he presented a name that made him tremble with fear:

"Chaos."

Atlas’ body began to tremble, then his eyes. He was in a dream, so the chances of it not being real were a billion times greater than the chances of it being real, but even the possibility of it not being real made him tremble with fear.

There was no way that there was any possibility that the creator himself was in front of him...Right?

"I don’t understand..." Atlas muttered when he managed to force himself to speak.

"There’s nothing to not understand. I called you here because I wanted to talk to you. I could have done it when you woke up, but it was less of a hassle to do it while you were asleep," Chaos said.

The old man smiled at the young man’s body trembling with fear and then said, "Don’t worry, I’m aware of everything, I’m not here to punish you or anyone else."

Atlas’ pupils dilated in shock as he heard those words and then stammered, "I mean you...well...I mean Chronos..."

Chaos shook his head and then muttered, "Nothing escapes the Creator, young man, it’s a little strange that you think time will work on the one who created it."

"I’m sorry sir...should I kneel before you?" Atlas suddenly muttered. His words turned the smile on Chaos’ face into a small chuckle and made him answer "No."

With that, the question in Atlas’ mind was finalised.

"Sir...Why exactly am I here?"

When he asked this question, Chaos looked into his eyes and then said, "I brought you here to tell you two things."

As Atlas waited curiously, Chaos looked at one of the bright galaxies circling them and then said, "Well done."

With these words, Atlas’ eyes lit up. It was as if Chaos’ words had healed every crack in his heart, calming him and even stopping him from trembling.

"Th---Thank you, sir...I am honoured...but why did you say that?" Atlas suddenly questioned.

Chaos looked back at him when he heard this question and then said, "For showing me how one person can change their destiny. It’s something I’ve never seen before, and I can see how your future changes with each action."

Atlas was about to say a few words after these words when Chaos stopped him and said, "Yes, I know, many people say there is no destiny, but there is. It is a concept I created to preserve the connection and equality of life in the world. That’s why four of my grandchildren represent destiny."

Atlas’ curiosity seemed to increase with these words. Chaos smiled again as if he had read his mind and then said, "I’ll tell you." Atlas didn’t even need to ask a question.

"Destiny is a different concept, Atlas. Everyone has a destiny. It is fate itself that has small gaps at some points and offers the person a choice. Like when one chooses the path of aura or magic, or when one chooses to marry a man or woman, or when one chooses to leave them."

"A line. A line that starts from the beginning of life and is presented to individuals, young men. It is fate."

With Chaos’ words, a red-coloured line had indeed formed immediately in the space between the seats where Atlas and Chaos were sitting.

"And this line, young man...branches out with every step you take, every breath you take, every direction you look, when you close and open your eyes, when you choose to sleep, when you fall in love, when you cry, and many other times."

With these words, the line between the two splits into tens, hundreds, and then thousands of branches moving towards infinity.

"This refers to the lines of small changes that people make in their destiny. In a way, the branches of a tree."

"What about you, Atlas? What kind of destiny do you think you have, who had already made your choices and died by these choices, but who came back thanks to Chronos and Nyx, who could only make simple and small choices instead of each member of each race in the world, who could make each choice himself... What exactly have you done?"

With these words, Chaos paused for a few seconds and his smile curled his lips upwards as he uttered the following words:

"Answer me."
