Antihero In the Hero Academy: I Can Connect the Past Heroes-Chapter 164: Ancestral Dragon
Chapter 164: Ancestral Dragon
At the same time, the atmosphere around them began to change. The Sages began to tremble. The harshness, seriousness, and gloom in Atlas’s gaze showed that he had kept everything to himself.
At that moment, each Sage understood why Azula and Orion, the entire Shorekeeper family, had looked at Atlas with those expressions. Each of them had understood the meaning of the words Azula and Orion had spoken in the memories Cassandra had shown them:
"You’ve only seen two main memories and a few small things."
Still, the same question continued to linger in each of their minds. After all they had seen, there was only one question on Cordelia’s, Cassandra’s, Talon’s, Constantine’s, Cain’s, Bellatrix’s, and Juliet’s minds:
[What was the dungeon trying to show them?]
When the image began to change, this time there was no battlefield before their eyes, but rather a region that Constantine recognised very clearly from his memories.
"The Tolien Mountains..." Constantine muttered suddenly. It was the very region located at the farthest eastern point of the world, said by some to be the first place to see the sun almost every day of the year, and also known as the home of ancient dragons.
It was the very place where Constantine was born, suffered emotional torment, and was saved by Cordelia, and the group was currently in the habitat region at the very top of the mountain.
There were dozens of massive dragons around, and every creature that had either inflicted emotional torment on Constantine or not was there, including the family members he remembered very clearly. Of course, Atlas himself was standing in the middle of each dragon.
"What are you planning to do?"
All the Sages heard Atlas’ voice at once and, to be honest, couldn’t help but be impressed.
They could see the extent of Atlas’s power. The fact that each of them could see that this young man in front of them was only an Eleventh-Grade mage, and yet he was shouting at beings around him who were powerful enough to kill him in minutes, made all the Sages admire him.
"What do you want us to do?" a dragon suddenly spoke, its voice thin and feminine, as it brought its massive head right up to Atlas’s face.
"Mother..." Constantine said suddenly. Yes, this dragon was none other than Constantine’s still-living mother, Aveline. She was expected to be the future leader of the ancient dragons and was perhaps the most powerful dragon after the ancestral dragon, the one Cordelia had made a sword from its tooth.
"Lady Aveline, you must act. If you do not act, the world will collapse. Neither angels nor demons are foolish enough to attack you. Each of them is aware of the power levels of the ancient dragons. Please, I beg you!" Atlas shouted suddenly, towards the female dragon in front of him.
With that, Aveline straightened herself up, and immediately afterwards, her massive body began to glow. In just a few seconds, a woman who was perhaps 20 centimetres taller than Atlas, nearly two metres long, with red hair and bright blue eyes, began to stand before him.
"What do you want me to do? What’s the point of trying to save a world where my son doesn’t exist?" Aveline had asked.
Hearing these words from Constantine had thrown her heart and mind into turmoil.
When Atlas heard these words, he shook his head and asked, "So you won’t seek revenge for your son, is that right?"
Upon hearing these words, Aveline fell silent, just like the dragons around her.
Meanwhile, from the farthest point of the habitat, where a small cave entrance was located, a thick, rough, and, to put it bluntly, a heavy voice rose:
"What did you say?"
When Atlas heard this tone of voice, he trembled and froze in place.
"What I said is true. Master Constantine did not die in battle like you all think that he did. He was a great mind, a powerhouse that was literally more powerful than ALMOST every living being in this whole world. There were only three more that were stronger than him. He was poisoned, poisoned by those who worship demons," Atlas replied, albeit reluctantly.
With these words, a small murmur rose from inside the cave, and then an old man, his entire body covered in wounds but still standing tall, nearly two metres tall like Aveline, emerged.
Constantine trembled when he saw this man. It seemed as though he still bore the scars of the emotional torment he had endured, even after thousands of years.
Upon seeing the man, Aveline bowed her head and did not fail to say, "Father."
He was the most powerful dragon that had ever existed in ancient dragon history. He was the very dragon known as the Ancestral Dragon, blessed countless times throughout history with all of Gaia’s power, known as the "World Seed."
This man was Cosmo himself.
The one that Cordelia literally beat the shit out of for Constantine to escape from the so-called prison.
"I am serious, sir. I killed most of them. I let a few escape, but I killed almost every person who ended the lives of the Sages. Those who worship demons, isn’t it clear who they take their orders from?" Atlas said suddenly.
Cosmo began to move slowly, and with each step he took, another dragon transformed into human form and began to prostrate itself before him.
When Cosmo came up to Atlas and started looking at him with an angry expression, Atlas realised that he was suffocating from the feeling that emanated from Ata Ejderha’s gaze alone.
Still, Atlas himself was well aware of this. Either he would say something now, or he would remain silent forever and retreat to his corner where he could form an alliance.
Just as he was about to open his mouth and speak, something unexpected happened. Cosmo suddenly put his hand on Atlas’s shoulder and said, "Say it again, young man."
This time, Atlas raised his head and looked at Cosmo’s face, asking, "You heard what I said, sir. Isn’t the rest up to you?"
He had no idea how bold his words were.
"You remind me of that fucking woman. The one who came and took my grandson from me. All I tried was to make him stronger, yet she took him from me," Cosmo said with great anger, yet there was sadness in his voice.
Atlas looked into Cosmo’s eyes as he spoke and said without pause,
"I’m sorry, sir, but I really don’t care. I never knew either of them, only watched them from afar while they were living the life of legends. All I want is for this world to survive, and that’s it."
The dragons around him, and even the Sages watching the memory, shook their heads in disbelief and paused as if they couldn’t believe what they had heard.
Cosmo, however, had an unexpected reaction:
"PUHAHAHAHAHA!!!!"
Cosmo’s loud laughter began to hurt Atlas’s ears, but he managed to protect himself with his mind.
When Cosmo’s laughter subsided, the Ancestral Dragon Cosmo himself began to watch Atlas carefully and then asked, "What is the reason for such audacity?"
Atlas looked into Cosmo’s eyes again and then said:
"You are Gaia’s most beloved being. Gaia is this world itself. This world is in great danger. Will you continue to sit back and do nothing while not only you but all the ancient dragons worship something that is in danger? I may die today or tomorrow, but your life is long, and they fear you. Why are you still here when you have enough power to destroy them all?"
With Atlas’s words, the smile on Cosmo’s face faded. The Ancestral Dragon’s gaze darkened.
"You’re saying that those who killed my grandchild are demons, are you? Do you have any idea which one it is?"
When Ata Ejderha suddenly uttered these words, Atlas’s eyes widened in surprise; he had not expected to hear such a question.
"I know nothing other than the fact that Asmodeus and Mammon themselves created the poison and devised the plan for the death of the Sages. If you are looking for someone to blame, they are the ones you should be looking at," Atlas replied.
When Ata Dragon Cosmo heard these words, he shook his head up and down, then said, "Until our revenge is taken, until the two bastards who brought about the death of my precious grandson Constantine are dead, I will help you, but after that, no Ancient Dragon will leave the Tolien Mountains, no matter what happens."
With that, the pressure on Atlas suddenly vanished, and the suffocating feeling disappeared.
Atlas bowed his head and said, "Thank you, sir," without stopping.
After that, the memory began to fade again, and everything started to change once more. The last thing the Sages saw was Atlas smiling for the first time since they had begun to see the memories.
In the truest sense of the word, each Sage was struggling to keep their composure.
