Antihero In the Hero Academy: I Can Connect the Past Heroes-Chapter 166: Singular Moments (1)
Chapter 166: Singular Moments (1)
When the memory began to change again, the Sages found it difficult to even breathe.
Memories came one by one, and the responsibilities that Atlas had willingly taken upon himself became even more apparent.
Hundreds of thousands of people had fought in wars. Millions of lives had been lost at Atlas’s hands. Every demon and angel he had killed with his own hands. The moments when he fought alongside Cosmo against Mommon and Asmodeus, and much more, had been witnessed by everyone who watched the memories.
When the memories came to an end, something unexpected happened... freёweɓnovel.com
The image the Sages saw was beyond comprehension. They had encountered monsters they did not know. Monsters with eyes as black as pitch, monsters that put even Cordelia herself under tremendous pressure.
The worst part was that there was something else they saw.
They could see Atlas in the air, chained by all four limbs. The blood flowing from his body was falling all around the monsters on the ground, and the situation looked like it was seriously close to death.
Of course, this was not really Atlas, but rather an illusion created by Chaos.
The Sages were about to lose their minds. Even Cordelia, after all those memories, had to force herself not to burst into tears, wondering how her only student could continue to live after so much stress, pressure, and responsibility.
And now, seeing her student in such a terrible state was incomprehensible and, to be honest, breathtaking. In a bad way, of course.
Each of them had already been thrown into a vast sea of sorrow by the memories, and now they were faced with an image that they would have to come to terms with.
On top of that, the fact that they had to fight was incomprehensible.
There were exactly seven monsters, just like the Sages themselves.
As the Sages pondered what to do and exchanged glances, a message suddenly appeared in the air where Atlas was imprisoned:
[7 Monsters against 7 Sages. Each one is stronger than the last. 1 Imprisoned Spirit, gentler than all of them but just as weak.]
When the text disappeared from the sky, the Sages seemed to have regained their composure, looking around and preparing to attack. At that moment, another text appeared in the sky:
[How far can you go for him?]
With these words, the first to step forward was Cordelia herself. In just half a second, Cordelia appeared before the smallest-looking but undeniably strongest monster, whose power was evident from the pressure it exerted on its surroundings, and without pausing for even a second, she delivered a devastating punch to the monster.
Before the monster could comprehend what was happening, it had flown hundreds, perhaps even thousands of metres away into the vast expanse where the group was standing.
Veins began to appear on Cordelia’s jaw and temples. It was clear that her focus was on saving Atlas.
As she threw the punch, the entire realm had shone, and a memory of Atlas that none of them had ever seen before had appeared in each of their minds:
"You said Lady Cordelia, didn’t you?"
It was clear that the voice belonged to Irene.
"Yes, I’m just curious... She protected everything and everyone until five years after she was poisoned... Until her death. Isn’t she the one who reduced the pressure on us so much? After all, the one who killed Shubael, Raziel, Zadkiel, Camael, and Haniel was none other than Lady Cordelia... I’m just curious, Irene..." Atlas said with a smiling expression.
"What was it?" Irene asked with a smile.
"I wonder... what kind of person was Lady Cordelia? How bright was she really? Could I learned something from her if I tried harder? Could she be my teacher and mine only? Maybe she would be the one who is proud of me. The person who would give me the key to destroying the rest like she did."
When the memory ended and Cordelia and the others managed to come to their senses, Cassandra attacked, and each of the remaining six monsters seemed to be under the pressure of the blood element, as if they were living creatures rather than darkness.
A few of them seemed to have even managed to lock themselves in place.
At the same time, a completely different memory had formed around each of them:
"Young Atlas... You remember my sister... Unfortunately, she passed away... I sought revenge for my dear sister Cassandra... Who would have thought that the one to take my revenge would be you, the greatest hero who ever lived?"
This person was Sullivan himself. The fact that he even existed in Atlas’s memories revealed how great a hero he was.
Sullivan’s face did not show the proud expression that everyone knew. Instead, it showed the same expression that was always on Atlas’s face: that of an old man who had lost everything.
"What kind of person was she? Lady Cassandra, I mean, it seems you loved her so much." Atlas asked with great curiosity.
"Haha...Rude...I had a really rude sister. Cassandra...Rude but brilliant. Even if she beat me up, even if she said she loved me, I couldn’t help but smile at her...Do you know I would have died for her? If I had known, I would have given my life for her. Wouldn’t you, Atlas?" Sullivan said suddenly.
Atlas smiled and replied, "Of course I would. If I could see the day when my sister could smile again, I would sacrifice not just my life but my entire soul, this world, all of reality."
With that, the memory faded, and this time it was Constantine himself who launched the attack.
Constantine grabbed the largest of the monsters locked away by Cassandra, also known as the weakest, along with a few rune fragments, and without hesitation, severed its head from its body with the runes.
The runes worked so quickly that the monster lost its life without even realising it had died.
The monster died there, and a completely different memory began to emerge:
"Trust me, I will recognise you. If you can live your life again in some way, if Chaos, the creator himself, decides that you are important and allows you to relive your past... Find me. FIND ME, PRECIOUS ATLAS. I promise I will recognise you... We will recognise you.’ Aveline said this with a big smile and eyes filled with both joy and sorrow.
