Apocalypse: I have a supermarket stocked with supplies-Chapter 139 - : Mutant Ants
Chapter 139: Mutant Ants
Su Yinhe was quick on his feet and threw another handful of Chili Powder.
One-eyed got caught by it too.
He was overly worried about his eyes, covering them with both hands, giving Yun Wujiu and Xu Jiaoqin the perfect chance to strike with all their might.
One-eyed Team’s initial sneak attack seemed impeccable, but their retreat was extraordinarily embarrassing.
“Ptui.” Xu Jiaoqin spat after they had run off.
“Captain, should we take advantage of their weakness and finish them off?” Monkey had enjoyed the fight so much that he was itching for more even after they had fled.
“Go away.” Yun Wujiu pushed him aside. “Why chase them? If they have a trap set up, we’re screwed.”
“Brother Yun, you are being too cautious. They were in such a mess; how could they have set up a trap?” He had been observing very carefully.
“It’s better to be cautious when we’re out on a mission. Don’t forget, we’ve taken on a job.” Xu Jiaoqin gave him a cold stare.
“Alright then.” Monkey was disappointed; he had hoped to rob them.
One-eyed Team must have had plenty of resources.
After all, they were also known as the Robber Team.
Even after the conflict, they couldn’t rest and walked several thousand meters more.
“Ah. When are we going to find that flock of sheep?” Bai Yuanyuan sighed, for they had taken on a task to kill a mutated flock of sheep.
The base only gave them a rough direction, without details, leaving them to deal with it.
For many teams, hunting wasn’t the hardest part. Finding the target was.
These sorts of missions could be unlucky, possibly taking days or even weeks without a find.
If they encountered a dangerous natural disaster, their lives could be lost instantly.
The weather had been decent these days; she didn’t know if they had entered a safe period or not, as the base hadn’t specified or calculated the timing.
She feared that they might end up facing a disaster while still outside.
If acid rain came and they had no shelter, they would be done for.
At least in the base, they could flee to the mountains.
The caves in the mountains were deep.
Ptui ptui ptui.
She cursed her own pessimistic thoughts, hoping they wouldn’t come true.
Bai Yuanyuan plucked a non-poisonous blade of grass, stuck it in her mouth, and chewed; it was bitter and made her want to cry.
“What are you doing? Switched to eating grass?” Liu Wutong came by and couldn’t help but chuckle.
“The sugar I brought ran out.” Bai Yuanyuan didn’t really want to chew on grass.
But the sugar she brought had all been devoured in just two days.
The candies were White Rabbit Creamy Candies, bought from Galaxy Supermarket.
The candies she brought were personal, and she felt uncomfortable about storing them in Galaxy’s space.
Since she carried them herself, she didn’t bring many, just one bag.
A bag was quite a lot, but ever since she had candies, she liked to have them in her mouth while walking—sweet and milky—then, before she knew it, they were gone.
Recalling this, Bai Yuanyuan felt the bitterness in her mouth and was deeply saddened.
“If it weren’t for the apocalypse, I would just go and sell White Rabbit Creamy Candies.”
“Hahaha. My sister said the same thing; she wants to work making White Rabbit Creamy Candies.” Liu Wutong remembered her sister, Liu Piaoxu, staying with their mother.
God, spare her mother from meeting another Gu Honghua.
She was genuinely scared.
When not on missions, her sister, Liu Piaoxu, always stayed with her; when she was on missions, she handed her sister over to their mother.
She wasn’t entirely comfortable entrusting her sister to their mother.
But she couldn’t just skip missions.
There were still three adults at home needing care.
Although Boss Su’s supermarket was good, the captain had said they shouldn’t neglect their superpowers and stay at the base just because it was easy to buy lots of things from Boss Su’s store.
The supermarket appeared too suddenly and had many secrets.
Captain Xu was afraid that the supermarket might just vanish one day.
If they stayed at the base for a long time because of the supermarket and their superpowers were neglected, once the supermarket disappeared and they went out hunting, they might not know who would be hunting whom.
She felt that the captain made sense.
Although they now had a lot of rice and had hidden it in many places,
they had gotten the food too easily. Liu Wutong always felt it was not quite real; it seemed to her like they were walking on clouds, light and breezy, never knowing when they might fall and crash to their deaths.
“There will be a chance. One day, there will be,” Bai Yuanyuan said with a heavy heart, her words sounded hopeful, but she felt no hope at all.
In the first couple of years of the apocalypse, everyone thought it would end.
Disasters couldn’t keep happening forever.
But now, ten years later, she had grown up so much.
Yet, the disasters just kept coming, one after another, endless.
If it weren’t for the world being occasionally normal, giving humanity a breather, she truly felt she wouldn’t be able to endure.
“There will be. Come on, don’t be so downhearted, look, what’s this!” Liu Wutong patted her, then extended a hand holding a White Rabbit Creamy Candy.
Her sister had given her several before she left.
She ate some, and this was the last one.
“You have one too,” Bai Yuanyuan said, looking at the blue and white packaging and the rabbit on it, her gloomy mood swept away.
“Eat up.” Liu Wutong unwrapped the candy and popped it into her mouth.
“Thanks.”
Bai Yuanyuan sucked on the candy, feeling as if her whole being was sweet.
Xu Jiaoqin, observing from a distance, smiled and shook her head.
“Don’t be jealous. You got one, too,” Yun Wujiu said, rummaging in his pocket and pulling out a handful.
Xu Jiaoqin looked at the handful of candies in his hand, her face darkened.
“Are these what you’ve been stuffing your bags with?” she had seen before they left, the bags bulging.
When asked, he had said they were essential supplies.
“Not just these. There’s also chocolate,” Yun Wujiu said, fishing out a few chocolate balls.
Xu Jiaoqin’s face turned as black as the bottom of a pot.
Turned out these several bags were all filled with candy.
“Don’t envy others. You’ve got what others do. Ah—” Yun Wujiu tried to emulate Liu Wutong by feeding her candy.
Xu Jiaoqin didn’t even look, just stomped on his foot and turned away.
“Hey! Don’t go. Where are you going?” Yun Wujiu looked at the candies in his hand, confused about what was going on in Captain Xu’s mind.
Why was she upset?
Yun Wujiu felt he had the best understanding with Captain Xu, but sometimes, he really couldn’t fathom what she was thinking.
Su Yinhe had no one to feed her, but it didn’t matter, she had cucumbers to eat.
Crisp and fragrant cucumbers.
Others didn’t have any.
Su Yinhe ate her cucumber, noticing Monkey’s gaze beside her, saliva dripping all over the ground.
She crunched on the cucumber and, after pondering a moment, broke off a piece and tossed it to him.
“Thank you, Boss Su, you are literally a life-saver, for all eternity…”
Su Yinhe: “…”
The cucumber couldn’t shut his mouth.

Su Yinhe, expressionless, like an emotionless cucumber-eating machine.
Cheetah Team was out of luck, failing to find the mutated sheep they were hunting but instead got targeted by a swarm of mutated ants.
The mutated ants, larger than humans and teeming in masses, made Su Yinhe’s face turn green at first glance.
