Chapter 52: End Of The Fourth Wave.

"Damn it!" Magnus swore, his eyes fixed on the volley of massive boulders hurtling through the air toward their position.

"Everyone, take cover!" he roared, already springing into action. A particularly large boulder was aimed directly at him, and he knew he needed to put as much distance as possible between himself and the impact zone – not just because of the boulder itself, but because of the deadly shrapnel that would erupt outward upon impact.

The beasts continued their relentless assault, seemingly oblivious to the incoming barrage. Whether they didn’t see the boulders or simply didn’t care, Magnus didn’t know and frankly, didn’t have time to ponder. His only priority was escaping the imminent devastation. Easier said than done, however, with several monstrous creatures snapping and clawing at him, hindering his retreat.

BOOM!

The ground beneath Magnus’s feet shuddered violently as a boulder slammed into the earth nearby, pulverizing everything beneath it before exploding into a cloud of debris, which rocketed outwards with terrifying speed.

Though considerably smaller than the boulders themselves, these fragments were the true danger. Dodging the boulders, while difficult, was manageable. The debris, however, was a different story. Spread over a much wider area and traveling at frightening velocities, the shards were nearly impossible to avoid entirely.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Boulder after boulder crashed down, sending deadly sprays of rock and dust ripping through the air like bullets, striking both humans and beasts alike. While lacking the raw power of the boulders, the high-speed debris inflicted significant, even life-threatening injuries.

"Damn!" Magnus cursed again, ducking just in time to avoid a jagged piece of rock that whizzed past his head, the near miss sending a shiver down his spine.

Gritting his teeth, Magnus rose and surveyed the battlefield. The devastation was evident. New craters scarred the landscape, and many fighters, both human and beast, lay wounded, some crushed beneath the enormous boulders.

Magnus felt a knot tighten in his stomach as he looked toward the source of the rocky onslaught. He had suspected it, but seeing it confirmed his fears. Five ape-like creatures, each towering fifteen to eighteen meters tall(50 to 60ft), were lumbering toward the battlefield. Metal-like armor plated their chests and heads, giving the impression of grotesque helmets. Their auras radiated immense power, far surpassing any beast they had encountered since the trial began. These were Armored Apes, also known as Titans, infamous for their immense size and strength. It was rumored that fully mature Titans could grow to rival even the tallest mountains.

Magnus exhaled sharply, recognizing the dire situation. Armored Apes were considered apex predators in the beast kingdom. Aside from Celestial and Divine Beasts, few creatures could match their raw power.

Their height alone provided a significant advantage, coupled with their incredible strength and formidable defenses. The iron-like plating protecting their vital areas made them incredibly difficult to kill, though the rest of their bodies were not similarly armored. Even without the plating, however, the Armored Apes possessed incredibly tough, bark-like hides that made injuring them a Herculean task. To further complicate matters, they possessed earth affinity, allowing them to reinforce parts of their bodies with layers of rock, turning them into nigh-impenetrable bulwarks. They were, in essence, living tanks.

Taking a deep breath to steady his nerves, Magnus issued his command without hesitation, "Prepare the ballistae!"

"Prepare the ballistae!" His summon in charge of the archers on the wall echoed the order from atop the wall, setting the archers into motion.

Massive ballistae, constructed from a combination of wood and reinforced metal, with thick, taut ropes strung across their frames, were quickly wheeled into position.

"Load the harpoons!" the lieutenant shouted again, and the soldiers immediately complied. Enormous harpoons, so heavy that it took two men to lift each one, were brought forward and loaded into the ballistae, ten of which lined the wall. These powerful weapons were another asset Magnus had acquired from the system shop, anticipating their potential usefulness in the trials.

As his men loaded the harpoons, Magnus turned his attention back to the approaching Armored Apes, his face grim. The battle was about to escalate dramatically.

He knew they had to deal with the Armored Ape as fast as possible, the target of the beast horde was to simply destroy the territory behind them, that was the trial he have to pass defending his territory and the Armored Ape wasn’t an exception.

Magnus didn’t even want to start imagining what would happen if he didn’t deal with them fast, imagine huge boulders being sent into his territory, imagine the civilian there, what would be of them if such was to happen, Magnus didn’t even want to imagine.

He needed to deal with them fast, luckily at the moment the rest of the beast horde had greatly dwindled leaving fewer beast to deal with and a lot of his men free so without any hesitation Magnus charged foward "With Me" He yelled as he charged foward towards the five Armored Ape.

Noah had also commanded the Storm Eagle to attack the Five Armored Ape so it was the first to attack sending a massive wind blade towards one of the Armored Apes neck.

Roar!

The Armored Ape roared in anger as the wind blade managed to cut open its neck drawing blood but it was just a flesh injury not even close to being grave.

Slapping its hand it tried to swat away the Storm Eagle as if it was some sort of fly but the storm Eagle with its agility managed to just dodge while releasing Barrage of Wind blade towards the Armored Ape causing it to roar in anger even more.

Even though it doesn’t look like the Storm Eagle have to upper hand it had managed to stop the advancement of the Armored Ape and from the look of things it looks like it could hold it for the moment.

Seeing this the rest shifted their attention to the remaining four.

Vorax alongside some of Magnus’s men immediately went to face one, Noah and Roger Taking with Magnus and Kelvin holding down two, the rest of Magnus’s men faced the fourth one.

Roar!

One of the Armored Ape roared angrily seeing the tiny humans blocking its path to its target as it stomped its foot onto the ground.

Suddenly the ground shook as the ground below shattered rupturing up, some of the people caught in this found themselves sent flying by the impact but the others remained relentless.

Meanwhile ontop of the wall just the the men working their have successfully loaded the whole harpoon, Magnus summon overseeing the whole thing contacted Magnus to inform him, Magnus without any hesitation ordered them to fire away.

"Okay, fire away" Magnus summon yelled as the men immediately took aim with the huge Ballista before firing releasing the huge harpoon hurtling towards the Five Armored Ape in the distance.

Clang!

A metal meeting metal sound could be heard as the harpoon landed on the head of one of the Armored Ape the metal like plate covering its head blocking it from penetrating but even though it didn’t penetrate it left the Armored Ape disoriented allowing it to suffer barrages of attack including another harpoon which lunged on its shoulder, its skin tried its best to provide defence but with no Armored plate covering the area it couldn’t do much to the heavy and fast harpoon.

Roar!

The unison roar of the five Armored Ape came as they themselves have also fallen victim to the harpoon some having harpoon lodged into different parts of their body.

"Do not give them chance to recover, push your attack!" Magnus ordered as he pressed on his attack.

Back on the wall the men weren’t dulling either, they have already began loading up another harpoon, back on the ground Magnus and his men pushed attack as the battle raged on.

The battle continued on for what seems like a very long time that have passed, the Armored Ape were starting to look bloodied, of course it wasn’t just them Magnus and his men have already started to accumulate injuries as well.

Magnus was down, his whole body aches, Vorax also many of its spikes missing with injuries appearing everywhere on its body.

Not just them Kelvin and the rest also, luckily for them just at the moment the rest of the beast horde have been cleared not just on this part of the wall but also on other part so Godiva, William and the rest of Magnus’s men came to offer backup and like that the battle raged on turning to their favour.

Few moments later with a thud sound that seem to resound in the heart of everyone the last of the Armored Ape fell after suffering barrages of attack.

"HUZZAH!" The crowd cheered as the last of the Armored Ape was finally brought down their eyes brimming with joy their tiredness seeming to have disappeared.

"Long Live the Lancaster territory!" Another cheer followed on as the crowd celebrated.

Magnus also smiled his face brimming with joy but just at the moment his system screen lit up with notification that made his brows furrow.
