Apocalypse: Transmigrated General's Daughter Uses Space to Survive-Chapter 406: Going to Find Feng Tu
The scenery changed at the place the token was placed as an opening appeared. The soldier walked inside and the gap closed again, the appearance going back to that of a complete ruin.
The soldiers outside were really shocked this time. How could a place change at the drop of a hat? Was this magic or something else?
To test what they had just seen, one of the soldiers walked to the barrier and placed the token he had just been given on it.
He felt a ripple and a gap appeared where he could see how the outside of the community usually looked like.
The barrier was a short distance from the gate and the walls of the community. So, once someone got inside the protective barrier, they would appear outside the gate.
They would have to open the gate before walking in. However, with the barrier intact, it didn’t matter even if the gate remained open all the time.
Others also wanted to know what had happened when they heard that the array formations that Chu Miao had talked about were already in place.
Thus, the scene of that soldier testing the barrier was re-enacted by many people.
Chu Miao stood by the window and watched this scene with a smile on her face.
She didn’t expect them to find it so novel that they were acting like kids. However, it was still a good thing that they could find something entertaining in the current world.
Once she was sure that everything was working well, she went back to their apartment to cultivate and recover.
Setting up the arrays had used a lot of mental and spiritual energy. She needed to recover.
When she opened her eyes again, it was the next morning. She noticed that the temperature was not as high as before even though the sun had already risen.
Even though as a cultivator she wasn’t very sensitive to the changes in the temperature, this wasn’t a normal world.
The apocalypse had changed things and she was afraid that a slight change in weather might affect people and cause unnecessary deaths like when the heat wave began.
Those who didn’t take any precautions dies without warning. Now, even though Chu Miao wasn’t particularly sensitive to temperature, she cultivated a habit of checking the temperature every day.
Thus, after waking up from her meditative state, the first thing she did was to check the temperature.
She realized that the temperature was only 25° and the outside was bright. She checked the time and found that it was already 10:36 am.
This showed that even though the sun was already up in the sky, the temperature hadn’t risen to the point of roasting people.
She ran to the window and opened the curtains only to find that there seemed to be a breeze blowing outside.
She opened the window and her speculations were confirmed. However, she wondered where the breeze came from since almost all the trees within the area had been uprooted by floods.
Nevertheless, she didn’t take it to heart as she thought that it was better than having the people suffering because of the high temperatures.
Chu Miao then walked back into her bedroom and rushed into the soul ring. She took a shower, ate something, then came back out.
Everyone in the house had already left. They were probably busy arranging things in the sect.
Since she didn’t have anything to do, she decided to go look for her friend Feng Tu. Ever since she accidentally met her on her way to the mountain, she didn’t know how she was doing.
She was wondering whether Feng Tu and her family had gone to join the safe base. Thus, she decided to pay her a visit today.
When she walked out of the building, she found her mother with other women each wearing gumboots and gloves, holding hoes or shovels and overturning the soil in the areas where the developers of the community had planted flowers.
Others were in the area that had served as a small square for the elderly to walk or dance and any other spot that didn’t have concrete was being dug up.
She had no idea what was happening as she walked over to her mother.
"Mom, what are you guys doing?" She asked curiously.
Chu Miao was also marveling at how many people had been recruited already. There were already so many women within the sect and she only knew a handful of them.
"Oh! Sweetheart, you already woke up. We are preparing to turn this place into a farm where we can grow food.
Scavenging for supplies is not a long-term plan since the things outside are limited and many people are searching.
However, if we have our own project to grow food, we will have a more sustainable flow of food.
We are going to section this place and grow vegetables, rice, and corn. We might grow other things, but for now, those will be enough." He Yan explained to her daughter what was happening.
"Oh, I see. That’s a good idea. With earth, water, and wood superpower users, we can grow enough food and even hasten the process so that we can get more food and shorten the growth and maturity cycle." Chu Miao understood the importance of such a project.
Even though they had many things in the Soul Ring, it wouldn’t be enough if they had to feed thousands of people everyday.
"Where are you going dear?" Mother Chu asked her daughter when she saw how she was dressed.
She knew that she usually got dressed that way when she was going outside to hunt zombies.
"I want to go out and see if I can find Feng Tu and her family. I had asked her to come here if she didn’t want to go to the safe base and she hasn’t shown up yet.
Knowing her character, she wouldn’t want to go to the crowded safe base, so I have to see why she isn’t here yet." Chu Miao was indeed worried about this and wanted to make sure that her friend was safe.
