Chapter 407: Chapter 407: Looking for Feng Tu

"Alright, you go ahead and do your thing. You aunties and I will plant some food for the people here so that we don’t start to starve." Mother Chu was very open-minded.

Even though she had a high position as the mother of the leader in the sect, she didn’t put on airs and behaved like any other member.

That was why many people liked her. However, it was the same for the whole Chu family. Even though the whole sect depended on their legacy, they didn’t make things difficult for anyone. They were the most easy-going leaders in history.

Chu Miao didn’t say anything anymore as she turned around and walked towards the entrance.

As soon as she walked outside the barrier, she found a few soldiers patrolling the area and wondered who was in charge of security.

They already had the illusion array, what were the patrollers doing there?

"Hey." She didn’t know the people on duty as they seemed to be new recruits. So, she didn’t know their names and could only call them ’hey’.

Luckily, they didn’t feel offended as they knew that she had many things to do and couldn’t know every single member of the sect. Moreover, she hadn’t been around when they were recruited.

"Miss Chu, how can we help you?" One of the soldiers who was close to the gate walked to her and asked.

"Why are you guys here?" She was puzzled, but when she asked that question, the patrollers were even more puzzled.

Weren’t they doing their job? Why would she ask such a question? They knew she was aware of their job, so they didn’t understand why she would ask that.

"Miss Chu, is something the matter?" The soldier asked nervously.

He wondered whether they had done something to let the sect down and we’re going to be kicked out.

This place was paradise in the apocalypse and they didn’t want to leave. They were aware that if they left here, they would never find another place like it.

When she saw how nervous the soldier was, Chu Miao knew that he had misunderstood her, so she clarified.

"You don’t have to be so nervous. You did nothing wrong. I was just wondering, we have already set up the illusion and defensive array.

The outside now looks like a ruin left behind by the floods. If you guys stay here to guard, don’t you think it’s too inconspicuous?

If someone passes by and sees you patrolling, won’t they wonder what you are guarding in a complete ruin?

That will only attract attention. You should patrol inside the array. Even if you don’t walk into the gate, at least stay inside the array to avoid attracting so much attention." Chu Miao explained patiently and it was only at that moment that the few soldiers listening understood.

Yes, the illusion array was to confuse people and enemies, but if they stayed where they were, weren’t they practically announcing to everyone that there was something there?

"Thank you, Miss Chu for the advice. We will shift into the inside of the array." The soldier who had been talking to her was enlightened and replied.

Chu Miao didn’t say anything anymore as she nodded at them and walked forward. She waved her hand and a modified Humvee appeared before her.

This was one of the cars her grandfather had gotten modified using military grade materials.

She climbed inside, stepped on the accelerator and left.

The people behind her widened their eyes in admiration. They had already heard about her various superpowers after they joined and how strong she was.

However, they never heard about her having a space that could store such a car. They felt exhilarated. As soon as the car disappeared in the distance, the few soldiers patrolling the area shifted from outside the illusion barrier to the inside.

Since one could only enter the barrier with a token, they didn’t need to be so careful anymore and could relax a lot.

As she drove through the streets, Chu Miao saw many zombies and also survivors scavenging.

Some of the zombies chased after her and she decided to test the power of the various weapons fitted into the vehicle during the modification process.

Thus, she pressed a button indicated by the picture of a gun and bullets shot from the back of the vehicle spraying the zombies following behind.

Even though none of them hit the fatal point, the head, they managed to slow them down significantly.

Some people who were hiding in buildings and others fighting zombies were shocked by this scene.

It was like a scene out of an action movie. Many wished they had the same vehicle and others who managed to get a glimpse of the inside of the vehicle started to get ideas about the car.

Seeing that only a young girl was inside the car driving, they thought that if they surrounded her, they might be able to snatch it from her.

If Chu Miao knew what they were thinking about she would roll her eyes at them even though it would clash with her personality.

How could it be so easy to take anything from her, those people must be dreaming.

However, since she didn’t know, it didn’t matter as long as those people didn’t actually put their ideas to the test.

Chu Miao drove her Humvee to the area that Feng Tu had told her before. Even though this place couldn’t be called a slum, the buildings were still quite old.

Luckily, the developers didn’t skimp on the costs and even after the flood, they were still sturdy. They were still more intact than some newer buildings that had turned into rubble after the flood water dried.

She remembered the building number Feng Tu had told her about and drove the car to the gate of the community. Although it was an old community, the gate was still there, even though badly rusted.

Moreover, it was closed and didn’t look like a gate of an abandoned community.
