Apocalypse: Transmigrated General's Daughter Uses Space to Survive-Chapter 481: Increased Scarcity of Supplies
They had no choice but to sit down and continue to recover.
Now that they realized that they could walk beyond the radius they had been restricted in, they were happy.
They were also curious because they hadn’t seen anything like that before.
However, none of them asked what was going on. In fact, only a couple or so people noticed that the invisible wall had appeared when Chu Miao waved her hand while heading to join the battle earlier.
They also noticed that it disappeared when she waved her hand again.
It was obvious that she was doing this to protect them, so they had nothing to complain about.
They were curious, however, to find out how to do that so that they can protect their teammates and family in the future.
"You guys came for the food in the granary?" Pei Ming asked while surveying the silos standing tall a short distance away.
There were five silos there and a couple warehouses. Pei Ming wasn’t sure whether the food in the warehouses was still edible if the floods had affected them.
However, he was sure that if there was food in the silos, then it would still be intact because they were made in a special way.
The walls of the silos were double layered with a vacuum in between to prevent air from entering in and spoiling the food.
With the technology used to make the silos, the food inside could last for up to fifty years without going bad.
"Yes, we came for the food there. We didn’t expect to be surrounded by zombies before we could even open a single warehouse." A member of the team that had been rescued explained.
"What about the silos? Do you know if there is anything inside or was it raided by others before?" Gu Fan asked from a distance as he set fire to a mountain of zombie bodies that had been collected from their earlier battlefield and piled together.
The man who had just replied to Pei Ming turned around to see who had asked the question and others did the same.
They were all shocked to see the mountain of corpses that were starting to burn.
The rest of the battlefield was clean except for the rancid blood covering the area.
"How did they collect all those thousands of zombies so fast?" Someone from within the team asked.
Even Liang Wei was shocked. In only a few hours, his beliefs and understanding of the human world had been shaken several times.
At this moment, he would not be surprised if this group of people resurrected the dead.
"Oh, that’s as easy as snatching candy from old people." Li Kun said with some humor that caused the atmosphere to lighten up.
Then Murong Si replied to Gu Fan’s earlier question.
"From our investigation, this granary hadn’t been emptied yet. The government and those rich people mainly focused on the well-known sites, which is why some smaller companies or granaries like this one were overlooked."
In smaller towns, a granary with three five silos and a couple warehouses would probably be very impressive, but in a large city like City C, this granary was practically invisible.
Well-known granaries would have more than fifty to a hundred silos and tens of large warehouses packed with food and grain for emergency purposes to provide food relief.
That was why this small place could remain undiscovered to this date.
Moreover, even though it was within the city’s industrial area, it was somewhat hidden, like in a back alley or something.
Therefore, it wouldn’t be so easy to be discovered.
The only reason the team had discovered this place was because all the other places in the city had been cleaned off supplies. One couldn’t even find a packet of instant noodles by accident.
What made things worse was that now humans were competing for supplies with rats.
There had been a significant increase in the number of rats within the city and they would ruin most of the supplies.
What’s more, over the past few months, a lot of people have combed through almost every corner and we’re only afraid to explore the darker and remote areas for fear of ambush from other teams or zombies, like in the situation the team from the military base had been in earlier.
If Chu Miao and her team had not teleported there directly, the whole team would have been wiped out.
"Where are your cars?" Liang Wei asked.
He was in a position of a leader in the military base and Murong Si’s team was familiar with him.
So, they felt a little more comfortable talking to him than speaking to the imposing men in military uniform. Even the young girl was so strong, it made them feel a little apprehensive.
"The street here is narrow, so we left them a distance away and walked here." Li Sun replied.
He had been one of the people with severe injuries and several zombie scratches, but now had the strength to stand up on his own and talk.
"How did you plan to transport the supplies once you got them?" Ye Xuan asked in a deep voice.
"We have two space superpower users in the team.
Although they can’t empty the place, they can at least carry a significant amount of supplies.
We also have three military trucks. We can all squeeze in one and use the other two to transport more supplies." Murong Si didn’t hide anything from Ye Xuan.
Even though he was different from Li Kun, who grew up with them, he had met him a few times when he visited his brother in the military before.
He knew that he was a principled and trustworthy person and he would not oppress them when it came to distributing the food.
No one there deluded themselves that they would take all the food in the warehouse and silos. After all, it was Ye Xuan’s team that had saved them and killed most of the zombies.
