Chapter 505: Chapter 505: Battle Preparations

Liang Wei knew that Chu Miao didn’t care about that meager crystal cores, so he didn’t stand on ceremony and stuffed a good number of crystals into his pockets until he couldn’t take anymore.

The others saw this and followed his example.

In the end, only a small amount of crystal cores were left, which Chu Miao put away in the Soul Ring to soak and remove impurities.

"Hold onto each other and let’s go back." She addressed the soldiers who were nearly jumping around celebrating their windfall.

It wasn’t usually easy to collect so many crystal cores.

Killing zombies was never easy, especially after the first few weeks when zombies started evolving and mutating.

Fighting and killing up to twenty zombies per person in a day was already a significant achievement.

Those who managed to kill up to fifty zombies alone were hailed as kings.

Now that they had managed to score more than fifty crystal cores per person in less than an hour, how could they not be happy?

When they heard the order, all the soldiers stood at attention and immediately grabbed the person next to them.

Chu Miao then grabbed Liang Wei who was still standing closest to her and teleported away.

She could ’see’ more zombies running in their direction, but she wasn’t in the mood for a battle, so she didn’t want to linger there.

Since the soldiers had come out through the gate, they had to go back through it.

Therefore, Chu Miao teleported them to the same spot she had picked them.

"See you at the president’s residence.

I want a full report of your experience when using the talismans.

If possible, deliver it today before going to bed, tomorrow we have a new experiment to conduct and we cannot afford to delay." She instructed once everyone was standing steadily in the same place she took them from.

"Yes ma’am." Liang Wei saluted her and the others followed suit.

She then teleported out of there immediately and went back to the president’s residence.

She appeared in the front yard where some soldiers on duty were guarding.

The guards there had been shocked so many in the last few days that they didn’t feel anything anymore when they saw someone appearing out of thin air.

Even a huge vehicle can appear suddenly, so a human being wasn’t unreasonable.

Chu Miao greeted them by nodding her head before heading into the main house.

She could tell that the others had already come back.

It was already dark outside and after distributing the food they were supposed to and assigning tasks to the workers and appointing foremen, they came back to discuss other matters.

"How long do you think it would take to complete the watchtowers?" Chu Miao didn’t recognize the voice as she walked towards the living room.

She could tell what they were discussing and continued to take long and steady steps into the living room.

When she appeared, she found her teammates, the president, Yu Wane’r, Commander Shen,a few of the old and middle-aged men and women she had met on her first day in the base, together with a few strangers.

"Hey everyone." She greeted them while heading to the spot next to Ye Xuan.

"Hey little Miao."

"Hi Miaomiao."

"Hey sister-in-law."

Different people replied to the same greeting differently, but even the blind and deaf could tell that everyone was enthusiastic about the newcomer.

"Are you done with your work?" The president, as the highest authority, broke the silence.

"Yes. The results were better than expected, but I am still waiting for a formal report from Liang Wei.

I am sure we will have an advantage in the upcoming battle." Chu Miao knew that the president had been informed about her little experiment, so she replied immediately.

"That’s great." Commander Shen laughed while slapping his thigh.

Anyone would think that he had no pain receptors with the amount of strength he was using to slap himself.

However, even he had noticed the changes in his body ever since Chu Miao and the others arrived.

His old bones had become more energetic as if he was younger and his old injuries no longer ached.

This was all thanks to the drinking water Chu Miao provided of course, and the few meals she had shared with him, which were cooked with food harvested in the Soul Ring and water from the stream.

"How accurate is it?" Ye Xuan, who understood talismans asked with a gentle expression in his eyes that it almost blinded the other people in the room.

"Much better than I had hoped for actually.

From my observation, a hundred percent accuracy. It also lasted way longer than expected." Chu Miao smiled when she said this with the pride of a little girl asking for praise.

She wasn’t usually like this, but she realized that the more she stayed with Ye Xuan, the more her personality changed.

She didn’t intend to suppress herself though.

"Good girl. Draw more then. It will lessen the time of the battle and give us an edge over the zombies." Ye Xuan patted Chu Miao on the head as if he was praising her when he said this.

The other people in the living room who were not used to their interaction were left with their mouths agape at the scene they were forced to witness.

The others, such as Ye Xuan’s brothers and the people who had been living in the president’s residence, including Commander Shen, Yu Wane’r, and the president himself felt as if they were going to vomit after being fed another round of dog food.

They always wondered how a serious person like Ye Xuan could turn so mushy when it came to love.

None of them said anything in the end.

Even if they said something, no one would care and the dog food would continue.

So, they had learned to accept their fate.

"What about the other experiment you mentioned?" Yu Wane’r remembered the issue with mutated plants and asked to alleviate the awkwardness in the room.
