Apocalypse: Transmigrated General's Daughter Uses Space to Survive-Chapter 507: Grandpa Chu’s Stand
After eating, Ye Xuan and the others went out to join the others in the farm to harvest food while Chu Miao made a beeline to the old courtyard.
She headed straight to the study room to draw more talismans.
After realizing that the talismans she drew were an upgraded version of the one drawn in the ancient text, she was more motivated to produce more and help the soldiers and other citizens who will be involved in the battle with the zombies.
After her experience the last time, drawing the treasure-seeking talisman was now as simple as drinking water. She could even draw them with her eyes closed.
Sitting behind the old desk in the study room, Chu Miao emptied her mind and the lines of the talisman started appearing in her head.
As she pictured the lines of the pattern on the talisman, her hand started to move on the talisman paper and spiritual energy flowed through the brush drawing the lines.
Without pause or stopping, a talisman appeared on the paper in ten seconds.
Like a machine, Chu Miao’s hand moved to take another talisman paper and the process of drawing began again.
She worked like a robot for hours until her grandfather came to call her for a meal.
Those in the farm were done with their work and we’re already heading to the villa for a meal.
Chu Miao had been so engrossed that she didn’t remember time passing.
It felt as if she had just started.
However, her grandfather didn’t want her to become the same as the time she was studying talismans and they were in seclusion.
She had done research without stopping for nearly half a month until she was filthy and completely drained.
Even though they had become cultivators, they still chose to maintain their routines as mortals, which was why they had regular meals and sleep.
So, when the men were done with their farm work, general Chu headed to the old courtyard to get his granddaughter.
"Bunny, stop drawing talismans. Let’s go eat and rest first.
Work isn’t going anywhere and even if you are in a hurry, you should remember to take care of yourself first." Grandpa Chu’s voice came from outside the study followed by his light footsteps.
Unlike before when he was a simple ordinary mortal, after becoming a cultivator, General Chu’s body had become lighter and so did his footsteps. If it was an ordinary person in that study room, without hearing his voice, they wouldn’t have been able to tell that someone was coming.
The voice pulled Chu Miao out of her zone as she completed the last talisman and put her tools down.
"Grandpa." She called out happily, raising her head to look outside.
"Hahaha....my good granddaughter. Stop working so hard. No matter what burden heavenly dao has placed on you, you must take care of yourself first.
Come, let’s go eat and rest first before coming back to draw." General Chu loved his granddaughter like his life and didn’t like the burden placed on her by the ancient prophecy.
But since he couldn’t do anything about it, he could at least make sure that his granddaughter didn’t suffer too much.
That was also the reason why he cultivated diligently even at his age.
He wanted to be his granddaughter’s backing even if he was weaker than her.
He would do whatever it took to stand in front of her if shots were fired to protect her.
"Okay, grandpa. Let’s go. I think I have drawn enough for the time being. We are not going to be depending on the talismans alone.
The only reason I worked so hard to draw more was because we don’t know how many zombies are in the zombie army we would face.
So, we have to be careful." Chu Miao was confident that with her strength and that of the others in her team, they could take on even a horde of one million zombies.
The problem was that they didn’t know if more would come. Also, they couldn’t judge the strength of the zombies participating in the battle, so they had to carefully prepare to prevent unnecessary losses.
"Alright. But you have to take care of your health first before considering the safety of others." Grandpa Chu was also loyal to his country and would do everything in his power to protect the country and its citizens, but he would not sacrifice his granddaughter even if he sacrificed himself.
The two talked as they walked out of the old courtyard and headed to the first villa set up in the Soul Ring.
There were a few more villas around it, almost forming a small community.
It seemed that the family had tried to modernize the environment inside the Soul Ring.
"This place has changed a lot from the first time we opened the Soul Ring.
There was only a small area at the time but now, the space in here is almost unlimited." Chu Miao commented, her eyes moving around her taking in the view and all the changes in the Soul Ring.
"That’s true. We are trying to make the space here more livable for people of our generation.
It is still more comfortable to live in a modern environment compared to the ancient times.
As long as the core of the space is not destroyed, making a few changes would not be insulting to our Chu family ancestors." Grandpa Chu added, also admiring the changes around him.
"It is also a way of leaving history for future generations.
Just the same as how we have learned so much from everything left behind by our ancestors, future generations will also benefit from everything we do in here.
The buildings will teach them about architecture, so it’s also an advantage for future generations if we add more modern structures or items." Chu Miao felt inspired as she spoke and decided to replicate a few more modern structures in the Soul Ring later.
