Apocalypse: Transmigrated General's Daughter Uses Space to Survive-Chapter 538: The Helplessness of. Grandfather
Back at the base, grandpa Chu couldn’t wait as he pulled Chu Miao to the small tent that was empty and asked questions.
The other leaders didn’t follow and gave them space to talk.
They went to check on the injured, comfort the families of those who had lost relatives, and clean up the area and return it to its normal state.
"How do you feel now?" Grandpa Chu asked his granddaughter once they were alone.
"Don’t worry grandpa. I am stronger now. Stronger than anyone had ever been even in the Wuxin kingdom.
I have advanced to the Nascent soul stage after all." Chu Miao bragged while summoning spiritual energy to the palm of her hand.
The tent was immediately filled with wind even though she had done nothing.
Seeing this, grandpa Chu was gratified.
"That’s good. You will fulfill your mission easier and faster if you are stronger." He said with another sigh.
He didn’t like the burden his granddaughter had been given, but he couldn’t do anything about it except to work harder and help her.
"How is Xiao Xuan?" Grandpa Chu suddenly changed the topic.
He knew that the darkness element his grandson-in-law cultivated was different from the other elements, but he was also aware that someone absorbing so much death energy couldn’t be any good.
"He is still refining the death energy he absorbed. It’s going to take some time, but he will manage, don’t worry.
When he comes out, he will probably need to advance." Chu Miao explained.
She would send her consciousness into the Soul Ring every now and then to check on his situation and he was doing well.
So she wasn’t worried too much.
In fact, she was a bit envious of that guy.
Absorbing death energy could actually provide him with enough spiritual energy to advance. How lucky.
"If he’s okay, that’s for the best. You rest here. I will go and help those old men to tidy up the battlefield and count our losses.
That is always the hardest part in a battle, but we can’t do anything about it." Grandpa Chu said as he stood up and left the tent.
Chu Miao felt her heart become heavy when she heard that.
In fact, she felt the weight of those deaths more than anyone else.
It was her mission to save the world, but so many people had to die while doing it and she couldn’t save everyone.
It made her feel incompetent, yet there was nothing she could do.
Chu Miao took several deep breaths before closing her eyes.
She looked inside her sea of consciousness and found that small version of herself sitting cross legged, apparently, cultivating.
She stretched her spiritual sense inward and poked at the figure.
It was as if the figure was expecting her to do that as she opened her eyes and looked towards where the spiritual sense had intruded from.
"What do you want?" The small figure asked.
"You can talk?" Chu Miao asked in surprise.
She had cultivated to be an immortal in her first life and of course knew that the nascent soul inside her sea of consciousness could talk but only after she had crossed the tribulation transcendence stage and it had completely solidified enough to leave the mortal body.
How is it possible that this one that had just been formed a few hours ago could already talk?
"What’s so surprising about that? You could recover your memories but I am not allowed to?" The figure asked with an attitude.
"What do you mean?" Chu Miao was shocked by the implied meaning of the soul.
"Just as you think. You are not the only one who can reincarnate." The soul said with what Chu Miao picked up to be anger.
If this was the same nascent soul she had cultivated in her first life, then that anger was understandable. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Especially if it had memories of their first lives. Particularly the memories of the last battle with the demons.
In that battle, Chu Miao had realized that they couldn’t win and she had to sacrifice herself by self-detonating to take the strongest demons with her so as to buy the other immortals time to eliminate the rest.
However, since her nascent soul was already fully formed and could leave her body, Chu Miao hadn’t wanted to take it down with her.
But the soul had insisted that they were one and if she stayed inside her sea of consciousness during the battle, even if it was self-detonation, she could use her essence to protect her seven souls and three spirits to prevent them from scattering once she self-detonated.
However, Chu Miao had refused, saying that it would implicate the nascent soul, which could already live like an independent person if it cultivated its own body.
Who would have thought that it would refuse to leave and Chu Miao knowing how stubborn it was, pretended to have agreed to its opinion and went on to gather all her power to self detonate, but at the last second, she forcefully ejected the nascent soul from her sea of consciousness.
This had indeed protected part of the nascent soul, but the soul also seemed to know Chu Miao well and knew that she was lying about letting it be. So, it had been on guard.
When it was forcefully ejected, it also summoned all its power to protect the souls and spirit of its owner.
In this way, both the person and the nascent soul ended up exploding but also protecting each other.
It was this defiant act that allowed Ye Xuan’s sacrifice in using his power to gather Chu Miao’s soul to succeed.
Unfortunately, Chu Miao’s act of ejecting the nascent soul from her sea of consciousness during detonation had made it angry.
But after dispersing, it didn’t know what had happened, until today when it felt a certain power pulling all its pieces scattered in different spaces and realms to one place.
When the lightning tribulation ended, the nascent soul realized that it had been repaired. Although its power was nothing compared to before, it was whole again.
And its owner was alive too.
