Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator-Chapter 302 - 297: Evil God Chen Pingchuan
DING!
[Your life trajectory has reached a turning point. Please make your decision carefully.]
[Option A: Having blazed a trail through all obstacles, you now see the massive Palace of the Evil God. You decide to turn around and leave. A wise person doesn't stand under a collapsing wall, and valuing your life, you refuse to put yourself in harm's way!]
[Option B: Well, hello there! Since you've come all this way, it would be a shame to leave disappointed. You decide to see for yourself what this so-called Evil God really looks like.]
Chen Pingchuan smoothed his hair, striking a pose he considered handsome.
"Choose the live scenario. No guts, no glory. Let's do this!"
The reason Chen Pingchuan made this choice was simple. Since his divine self dared to come here, he must have had absolute confidence; otherwise, he never would have come.
As his vision faded from black to white, Chen Pingchuan appeared at the outer perimeter of the mysterious palace. He shook his head lightly and began to examine the mysterious Palace of the Evil God.
The palace's outer wall was built from a strange material, one seemingly born from chaos itself. The substance was not quite stone, and its surface flowed with a cold, dark light, as if it were the materialization of resentment from countless souls struggling and wailing within.
The palace doors soared into the sky, reaching dozens of meters in height. The two huge door leaves were engraved with complex and eerie patterns. These patterns twisted and meandered. At first glance, they looked like some ancient script, but upon closer inspection, they resembled writhing tentacles, seemingly ready to emerge from the doors at any moment to tightly ensnare anyone who dared approach.
"Hey, look at those two statues! They seem alive!" Lilia said, standing on her tiptoes and pointing at the two giant statues flanking the main gate.
"Yeah, Boss. This place gives me a really weird feeling. Where are we?"
"Maybe we should just leave. After all, they have no quarrel with us!"
The one who spoke was Porcupine. Only he dared to speak to Chen Pingchuan like that. Their interactions over the past few days had only deepened everyone's fear of him. All the human enemies who attacked late at night were drained of their blood and flesh by Chen Pingchuan, turning into wisps of black ash that vanished from the world. Such bizarre methods made everyone all the more terrified of his power.
Chen Pingchuan did not answer Porcupine's question. Instead, he stared at the sculptures.
The statues were humanoid but not human. They had human-like contours but possessed huge bat wings. Their legs were bent like a goat's, their hooves sunk deep into the ground. The faces of the statues were featureless, just a patch of chaotic darkness, yet Chen Pingchuan could feel a cold gaze cast from that darkness, as if it were scrutinizing his very soul.
Devils!
Chen Pingchuan muttered inwardly. He realized the statues' appearance bore a strong resemblance to the devils and demons of Western mythology from his previous life. Although he had never studied such legends, the highly distinct traits like bat wings and goat hooves were unmistakable.
He once again surveyed the palace's surroundings.
The palace walls stretched endlessly, like a slumbering black dragon. The top of the walls was covered with sharp barbs, each one reflecting a chilling, eerie glow. Above the walls, several spheres hovered, emitting a faint green light. The light wavered uncertainly, as if it could be extinguished at any moment, yet it stubbornly flickered, adding to the palace's grim and terrifying atmosphere. A thick fog lingered around the palace, from which came the faint sounds of moaning and roaring, as though innumerable unseen beasts were lurking within.
A Demon Palace!
Chen Pingchuan took a deep breath, trying to suppress the complex emotions churning within him.
"Let's go."
"Since we're here, we have to go inside and take a look."
Chen Pingchuan's voice was light, yet it carried an authority that could not be defied. His underlings saw this and knew his mind was made up, so they all fell silent.
Porcupine was straightforward about it. "Alright, I'll take the lead. This place looks ominous. If there's any danger, let me face it first."
With that, Porcupine strode toward the palace gates, the Great Fierce Bear following close behind him. The bear found that among these people, only Porcupine suited his temperament.
The palace doors stood dozens of meters tall, like a majestic mountain blocking their path. They were engraved with twisted, eerie runes that resembled pairs of uncanny eyes, emitting a bone-chilling aura that made one shudder.
When Porcupine and the Great Fierce Bear reached the doors, they suddenly erupted with a piercing light. Waves of dark power surged like a raging black torrent from within, coalescing into a group of even more formidable Shadow Demons.
These demons were worlds apart from those encountered previously. Their bodies were several times larger, as enormous as small mountains, and their strength had reached the level of sixth-tier experts. They exuded a thick, dark aura that seemed capable of devouring everything around them. The gigantic statues that had been just behind them also suddenly transformed into living monsters, surrounding Chen Pingchuan and his group.
A thought stirred in Chen Pingchuan's mind, and his gaze instantly sharpened. He didn't let his underlings charge into danger. Instead, he activated his own rule-based skill.
"Master of Empty Hands!"
"Master of Empty Hands!"
"Master of Empty Hands!"
...
As Chen Pingchuan unleashed his power, none of the monsters could withstand a single attack from him. They were all transformed into hearts made of various materials, which he collected in his personal storage space.
Porcupine and the others had initially been vigilant, preparing for a major battle. Chen Pingchuan's actions, however, shocked them once again. They all stared at him as if he were a monster.
"Boss, you're awesome!"
Porcupine was the first underling to start heaping praise. His goofy, honest smile made even the usually aloof Chen Pingchuan feel a sense of ease. After all, you can trust an honest man.
"Boss, you're so powerful!"
"Yeah, yeah! The boss is the strongest! These petty creatures aren't even worthy of carrying his shoes. How dare they attack the boss? They deserved to die!"
The one who spoke this time was the usually quiet Wei Hao. He was already intimidated by Chen Pingchuan's bloody methods, and recent days had only intensified his terror. He truly didn't want to end up like the others who had died.
Sucking up isn't so disgraceful. It's better than dying, anyway. Wei Hao sometimes even thought that being locked back in his cell would have been nice.
Of course, Chen Pingchuan knew nothing of these internal musings, and even if he did, he wouldn't have cared.
"Open the door!"
At Chen Pingchuan's command, Porcupine and the Great Fierce Bear marched toward the gate like two moving mountains. They took a deep breath, placed their hands on the massive door leaves, and heaved with all their might. Muscles bulged beneath their clothes and veins popped on their foreheads. Their faces flushed red with effort, but the doors didn't budge an inch, as if they were rooted to the ground.
"What's going on? Boss, there's something wicked about this door!"
