Chapter 130: Bring it on

Of course, Elena didn’t want to die—she was bluffing her way out of their sight.

But the way she acted was enough to raise doubt and fear; it was so convincing that it made them wary.

She was using her actions to weigh down her enemies in a mental battle, and seeing them stunned, she couldn’t help but smirk.

’See, they’re staring at me with fear now.’

She had already planned everything.

She had secured Uncle Antony and Andrei to wait downstairs as her backup if things escalated.

They would exit through their location later, but for now, the pressing concern was how to slip out of her enemies’ sight.

When everyone saw the powerful grenade, a wave of shock swept through the group.

They all wondered why Elena had brought explosives with her.

Troy stepped back slightly, his eyes shifting between Elena and the others as he assessed the situation.

He sensed that Elena was ready to risk everything if they tried to corner her.

At the same time, he didn’t see fear in her eyes; instead, there was a glint of defiance, as if she were mocking them.

’This woman is far too harsh on herself. She’s willing to die along with them. This makes things complicated.’

Elena was not afraid of them; she would never back down.

The moment she showed fear, her enemies would gain leverage over her, and that was the last thing she would ever allow to happen.

"Back off, or else let’s die together," Elena declared, stepping away from them to create some distance and escape their immediate sight.

Everyone could see the fierce determination in her eyes.

Troy felt a surge of frustration swell in his throat; this was the first time someone had outsmarted them so skillfully, leaving him with a sense of helplessness he had never experienced before.

But Trixie remained oblivious to the seriousness of the situation.

She thought Elena was just trying to scare them and was convinced that she was merely bluffing.

"Cousin, what are you doing? Are you really letting them escape?" Trixie exclaimed, her voice full of disbelief.

"What do you want me to do? Risk everything?" Troy shot back sharply.

"What if they’re just bluffing? Are we really going to let ourselves look foolish in front of them?" Trixie pressed, her voice rising with urgency as she tried to persuade her cousin.

She dismissed Elena as nothing more than a con artist, convinced that her bravado was merely a façade meant to intimidate them.

Troy was almost convinced by Trixie’s words, but when she added some absurd demands, he snapped back to reality.

"Let’s kill her, but be careful not to hurt Brother Ethan," Trixie said, her voice tinged with worry.

"How are you going to do that? That man always sticks with his wife," Troy pointed out, shaking his head in disbelief.

Trixie fell silent, while Troy glared at Elena, searching for a way to retaliate. He couldn’t stand the feeling of being threatened.

Meanwhile, Elena watched them with contempt. A little intimidation was enough to make them back off for a moment.

But as she stepped back a few paces, they raised their guns again, their confidence slowly coming back.

Of course, she wasn’t going to just stand there.

Since they believed she wouldn’t take action, she decided to show them not just one grenade, but ten.

’Let’s see how they survive this.’

A smirk spread across her face as she imagined how heaven would intervene.

Suddenly, a gunshot echoed from the area, breaking the tense silence.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Elena showed no fear; instead, she threw a grenade toward the enemy’s side.

"Bring it on," she challenged, her voice calm and steady.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The building shook fiercely, sending waves of panic through everyone as they scrambled to escape.

Troy’s fury grew at Elena’s reckless act.

His men rushed desperately, searching for any way to get out of the collapsing floor.

"Move faster! The ceiling is about to collapse!" he shouted, his voice filled with urgency.

"What are you waiting for? Follow me now!" one of the captains barked to his men.

Unfortunately, five of them were severely injured, and four died on the spot as chaos erupted.

Curses filled the air as Trixie screamed nonstop, demanding that they kill Elena, unaware that she had already left the building.

"Kill that b*tch.... I wanted her dead now."

Meanwhile, Elena had safely exited the building and was now with Uncle Antony, who waited for her at the nearby opposite building.

"How’s the situation?" Uncle Antony asked, unaware of the chaos that had unfolded moments before.

Xander quickly briefed them on the events, causing everyone to gasp in shock.

They began to understand how serious the danger they had faced a while ago.

Afterwards, they quickly returned to Camel Tower, Xander drove non-stop, arriving almost an hour later.

The moment they arrived, they saw signs of residents’ activity.

People were now returning to their units, as living in the crowded evacuation center had become unbearable.

They didn’t bother to greet anyone and simply walked upstairs, exhausted from their earlier activities.

"Now, there are a lot of people, but the problem is, where are they going to stay since their units have already flooded?" Andrie said, glancing at the faces of the returning residents.

They seemed to have aged significantly and looked wary of one another.

Perhaps their experiences had made them more cautious and distrustful, as they witnessed the darker side of humanity.

"Do you think something is off with the way they gazed at us?" Uncle Anthony asked, his brow furrowed with concern.

"Indeed, they looked at us as if we were their prey," Xander replied, his voice laced with unease as he observed the residents’ unsettling behavior.

Elena recalled the syndicates that had raided various buildings in her previous life.

"Maybe they aren’t the previous residents but part of some other organization," she suggested.

"Let’s remain vigilant for now," Ethan warned as he helped his wife upstairs, his instincts on high alert.
