Chapter 147: Frozen city

’Why do the little boy’s eyes look like mine?’

Elena was puzzled; the boy felt familiar, but no matter how hard she tried to recall her past, she still couldn’t remember him.

She sighed and let her husband investigate later.

After a few hours, the residents began to leave the shop, taking their children home one by one.

Soon, only Elena and the others remained.

They quickly closed the door, and with a wave of Elena’s hand, she stored everything in the space and returned the unit to its original design.

Afterwards, they entered the space and exited at Grandpa Caldwell’s location, leaving the residents on the other side confused about how they had left the unit without using the door.

But then they realized: the mysterious shop had vanished, along with the personnel who sold the items.

They now believed they were truly magical beings, perhaps sent to save them.

This news spread quickly, making the mysterious shop even more popular, and it soon caught the attention of the authorities and various organizations.

Elena and the others, unaware of the situation, were now preparing their beds.

They had decided to sleep over at Grandpa Caldwell’s unit for the rest of the night.

"Wife, come here. The bed is already prepared."

"Wait a second; I just need to freshen up a little bit."

Seeing his wife about to enter the space, Ethan thought it would be best for her to rest there.

"Should we stay in Paradise instead and sleep there? The baby might not like the cold here." fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

"What are you talking about? Let’s sleep here; we need to get used to this kind of coldness," Elena retorted.

"I’m just afraid you’ll feel uncomfortable."

"Don’t worry. The baby and I are perfectly fine," Elena reassured him, then entered the space to clean up.

Afterwards, Elena returned to the unit, and finally they lay in bed, discussing the disaster that had occurred.

"In your dreams, how low does the temperature drop?" Ethan asked, his brow furrowing with concern.

Elena thought about her past life and the extreme cold that had once plunged the world into an ice age for a year.

Now, she wondered if that same pattern would repeat itself, especially since things seemed to be changing.

’Would this cold last for a year?’

"It drops to -60 degrees, turning the whole world white," Elena replied, reminiscing about the past.

Ethan sighed, feeling helpless in the face of the natural disaster.

"Let’s be cautious, then. It might suddenly drop, making us vulnerable to its abrupt changes."

She agreed and requested, "By the way, can you check that little boy’s background for me?"

Ethan raised his brows while hugging his wife. "What boy?"

"The boy with the same eyes as mine—vivid green. I don’t know why, but I feel a connection to him."

Ethan felt a twinge of jealousy but nodded nevertheless.

He was also curious about why his wife kept looking at the little boy, who looked a little bit similar to her.

"Alright. Come on, let’s sleep now," Ethan replied, then kissed her lips while caressing her belly, letting their baby know of his presence.

Soon, they both fell asleep peacefully, embracing each other for warmth.

Elena was awakened by the sound of laughter as the kids played in the living room, jumping around like cute rabbits.

At first, they were reprimanded by Ethan since his wife was still asleep and they needed to keep quiet.

But soon, they forgot their promise as they became engrossed in playing with each other.

Now that his wife was finally awake, Ethan quickly handed her a cup of well water.

"Wife, it’s time to eat now. It’s almost noon; you might be hungry."

Elena was confused. Was he trying to say she had become a lazy pig, or was he concerned that their baby would soon starve?

If Ethan knew what his wife was thinking, he would definitely refute it; he was just concerned for her well-being.

"Fine, but wait a little bit. I need to freshen up in Paradise."

Elena quickly stood up and entered the space.

Ethan could sense that his wife was moody today, so he smiled and waited for her to return.

It had always been like this since she became pregnant; her changing moods had become pretty normal to him.

Later, when she came back, her mood would do a complete 180.

Once she returned to the unit, Elena was ready for her meal. She was hungry and wanted to sip hot soup, specifically chicken stew.

"Alright, let’s go to the kitchen," she said, holding her husband’s hand.

Ethan chuckled, seeing her happy again.

They made their way, greeting everyone they passed, while the kids enthusiastically returned their greetings.

Ethan had already replaced the heating devices a while ago, afraid they would overheat and malfunction.

With the unit’s temperature being maintained well, the cold didn’t seem to bother them much, and they continued playing with each other.

Afterward, Ethan prepared the meals his wife had requested, and soon, a lot of delicious food appeared, one by one.

Chicken stew, vegetable salad, and beef soup were perfect for this cold weather.

Elena couldn’t help but gulp at the aroma of the food.

Soon, they dig in happily while looking at the outside situation.

Yesterday, the area was still flooded with water and accompanied by drizzle, but now the rain has completely stopped.

As snow falls heavily, it transforms the surroundings into a frozen city overnight.

Luckily, the temperature didn’t drop any further; otherwise, it would have put people at risk of freezing.

Unfortunately, there are still some who didn’t wake up and were found frozen to death.

The good news was that the pests suddenly disappeared overnight, allowing the residents to breathe easier.

"Wife, what are you thinking? Finish your meal."

"Nothing, just savoring the flavors of the dishes."

After the meal, they returned to the living room and looked at the kids. Elena then decided it was time to upgrade the Golden Tablet.

She had already collected a lot of jade and antiques, hoping it would be enough.

"Husband, I will upgrade the Golden Tablet later this afternoon. I don’t know what will happen, so let’s retrieve some supplies from the Paradise."

She was concerned that there might be some hiccups during the upgrade.

Ethan nodded, and soon a variety of supplies appeared all around them.
