Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 158: Outside the building
Chapter 158: Outside the building
Days passed, and in the blink of an eye, two weeks had gone by since the onset of the extreme cold.
The temperature had dropped to -30 degrees, making life increasingly difficult for the residents.
Fortunately, the snowstorm had finally ceased, allowing the residents to venture out of their homes in search of items to help them combat the frigid conditions.
Though living was unbearable, humans found ways to adapt to the harsh weather.
They began collecting snow for drinking water and cutting down nearby trees for firewood.
Most of them were doing their best to survive, but there were still some who sought an easier way by robbing others, and worse, killing them to take their supplies.
It became the norm for people to be indifferent and afraid of getting on others’ bad sides. They watched from the sidelines, apathetic to who might perish.
For they had only one motto: ’Mind your own business.’
However, things were different in Camel Tower Building C; the residents were thriving there.
Thanks to the Paradise shop, they had enough supplies to combat the extreme cold.
"Sir, you have been gone for four days. Is there something wrong?" a woman asked, worried that the shop might stop selling supplies and vanish without a trace.
"Nothing happened! We are not leaving the area for now. In fact, we are starting to open a new branch in another area," Buttler Aki replied in her mysterious tone.
"Oh, alright! Then I want to buy 10 bundles of firewood, 30 packs of noodles, 20 kilograms of rice, and the rest would be dried fish, please."
"Noted! Please take your order number here. On the other side, you can enjoy fish soup while we pack your order."
"Thank you!"
She then joined the others queuing for free soup.
It was always like this: whenever the shop opened, you would receive free items as long as you exchanged jades and antiques.
The residents’ demeanor was vastly different from that of those in other buildings.
They appeared healthier and more robust, unlike the residents of other buildings, who were now emaciated due to hunger and the constant fear of being robbed.
While the others were busy, Ethan, Dr. Paige, and Daniel started to walk downstairs, donned in their thick clothes to combat the extreme cold, along with skating gear for transportation.
Today, they would scout the area around the Camel Tower buildings, searching for a suitable location to open a branch of the Paradise shop.
Ethan was adamant about this decision, as people were starting to gather around Building C, which was becoming famous for selling supplies.
With many thugs, robbers, and criminals lurking nearby, trying to investigate the mysterious shop, their constant presence was becoming increasingly annoying. frёewebηovel.cѳm
Not knowing when they would strike posed a significant danger to them.
Therefore, Ethan and Elena decided to open a new shop location to divert their attention away from Building C, portraying it as nothing special; it was merely the first location.
Elena wanted to join them, but Ethan resolutely declined.
According to Aunt Liza, the first three months of pregnancy were crucial for the baby’s development.
However, he promised that once they found the location, he would contact her, and she could freely come and exit to his location.
With no other option, Elena agreed, considering the baby and the extremely slippery ice surface. It would be challenging and could lead to accidents.
"Alright, let’s first check the area around Buildings A and B," Ethan suggested through the [Telepathic ]skills.
Now, everyone on their team knew that the space had been upgraded, prompting them to rejoice continuously.
They were also aware of the changes and the new skills available to them.
"So slippery; even the anti-slip boots seem useless," Daniel remarked, struggling to maintain his balance.
"Be careful. Do you know how to skate, right?"
"We know."
Soon, they donned their skating gear, allowing them to move freely across the ice surface.
At first, Daniel and Dr. Paige were swaying out of balance and sometimes fell down, but after many attempts, they finally got the hang of it and moved steadily.
While they were skating hurriedly, five men suddenly appeared out of nowhere from the hidden bushes, raising their steel pipes and ready to strike.
They had noticed the trio in their eye-catching warm clothes and wanted to snatch them away, believing they had come from the mysterious shop and likely had plenty of supplies.
Five against three seemed like an easy win, but they were unaware that the people they were trying to rob were not ones to be messed with.
"Brother, someone is here."
"Don’t stop; I’ll take them down," Ethan said with conviction. The robbers lurking around their building were becoming increasingly annoying.
Eliminating them now could also help ease the concerns of their customers.
He had heard news that after some residents from another building shopped at Paradise, criminals waited and robbed them, leaving them helpless.
Seeing that Ethan and the others were accelerating towards them, the robbers looked confused at first, but their greedy eyes soon revealed their excitement.
"They’re coming! Don’t let them escape!" one of them shouted.
"Boss, I think something is wrong," another robber said hesitantly.
"If you chicken out, you can leave. But you won’t have anything later, as their items will be ours," the boss replied.
After a moment of doubt, the hesitant robber steeled himself and joined the others as they awaited Ethan’s arrival.
But before they could take action, Ethan raised his gun and shot them precisely.
The robbers panicked after seeing their comrades fall suddenly.
Bang! Bang!
"They have guns! Retreat!" one of them shouted.
The leader quickly hid behind some bushes, afraid of being targeted and killed without a chance to fight back.
However, they didn’t retreat too far; they planned to return and reclaim the belongings of their fallen member.
To them, it would be a waste of fabric to leave it behind.
Ethan couldn’t reach them, as they quickly concealed themselves on the slope covered with bushes.
Taking them out one by one would be a waste of time, but he vowed to clean up this area soon.
Afterward, they continued on their way and encountered some survivors, but this time, the survivors only looked at them with envy.
