Chapter 704: A Great Bargain

The Blake Father and son duo, after much effort, finally got acquainted with a buyer through a friend who was fond of collecting antique artifacts.
The buyer, they heard, wasn’t a native of Florida. He hailed from elsewhere and was known for his penchant for collecting a myriad of curious items, with artifacts being among them.
Their friend emphasized that this individual was not short on funds. Not only was he wealthy, but he was also willing to spend generously on his collection.
The Blakes saw this potential buyer as their lifeline, believing that if they could seal this deal, it would alleviate the impending financial crisis that loomed over them.
That evening, both arrived early at the designated meeting spot, palpably anxious.
“Listen,” the elder Blake instructed his son, “When the man arrives, let me do the talking. The item we acquired for 250 million, we need to offload for at least 200 million now, or we won’t solve our predicament.” fr(e)ewebn(o)vel
“And it won’t be long before our financial woes become common knowledge. Once that happens, opportunists will surely take advantage, so we must act swiftly.”
Such pampering was precisely why the younger Blake had grown so arrogant.
After what seemed like a long wait, a man clad in a black trench coat approached them.
This must be the buyer.
But their initial optimism faded instantly upon recognizing him.
It was Luo Feng!
Seeing him, their hopeful expressions vanished, replaced by looks of having been played.
“You again! Can’t get rid of you, can we?” The elder Blake, struggling to contain his frustration, pointed accusingly at Luo Feng.
However, Luo Feng feigned innocence. ‘How was I to know it was you? I heard someone wanted to sell the gilded mask. I thought you’d already found a buyer.”
Settling into a chair and crossing his legs, Luo Feng continued, “Since we’re all here, let’s discuss. You want to sell, and I wish to buy.”
“We expect a buyer with genuine intentions,” the elder Blake retorted, masking his anger.
“Do I appear insincere?” Luo Feng responded, revealing a briefcase which he placed in front of the elder Blake. “Mr. Blake, see for yourself.”
Opening the case hesitantly, the elder Blake found it brimming with cash. While substantial, it paled in comparison to the mask’s value.
“Luo Feng, what’s the meaning of this?” the elder Blake inquired, bewildered.
“Just a reminder,” Luo Feng began, “In three minutes, you have a payment due. I brought the money to ease things for you.”
Disbelieving, the elder Blake watched as, exactly three minutes later, his phone rang. The number sent a chill down his spine. Answering, his worst fears were confirmed: a payment of four million was due.
Glancing at the cash-filled briefcase, he estimated the amount to be roughly four million. It dawned on him that Luo Feng had begun employing underhanded tactics. If he continued resisting, he’d likely find himself in even deeper trouble.
Sighing resignedly, the elder Blake finally spoke, “One hundred million is far too little. You’re taking advantage of our desperation. I promise you, even if our company goes bankrupt, I won’t hand over the mask for that price.”
Luo Feng, willing to negotiate, countered, “150 million, with one additional condition.”
“And what’s that?”
“I won’t trouble you again.”
Luo Feng’s words were a blatant threat, but the elder Blake felt cornered. Having witnessed Luo Feng’s capabilities, he recognized the danger of pushing him further.
After much contemplation, the elder Blake finally agreed.
“You bought it for 250 million and are selling for 150 million. Mr. Luo, you do know how to spot a bargain..”
