Chapter 21: Chapter 21: Killing all Monsters in the Floor, The Sovereign Wolf

"And fifty," Karl muttered under his breath as he grabbed the final [Spirit Orb] from the lifeless goblin in front of him.

[Spirit Cemetery: 50/50]

The counter blinked in his interface.

His cemetery was now full.

This meant he could finally strengthen his forces by linking his spirits again.

However, the first floor of the tower wasn't a safe place to relax, not with the chance of goblins hiding in the shadows.

Instead of immediately heading to the [Spirit Cemetery], Karl opted to transfer the orbs into his [Spirit Storage].

This would let him collect more orbs as he cleared the floor.

For the next two hours, Karl and his summoned spirits systematically wiped out every goblin they encountered.

From the weaker [Level 13 Goblin Guards] to the stronger [Level 14 Goblin Knights], none of them stood a chance.

Whether it was his own [Spirit Flames] or the sharp claws and fangs of his spirits, the goblins fell like leaves in a storm.

Karl barely needed to lift a finger.

His primary role was collecting orbs as his summons dismantled the opposition.

Eventually, a notification confirmed his efforts:

[All monsters on the First Floor have been eliminated.]

[Spirit Storage: 94/100]

[Spirit Cemetery: 50/50]

Satisfied with the haul, Karl whispered, "[Spirit Cemetery]," activating the link to his summoning space.

The world around him shimmered.

Moments later, he found himself standing amidst rows of shadowy tombstones, each containing the essence of spirits he had captured.

Without hesitation, Karl began the process.

The 50 spirits in the cemetery were ready for merging.

He initiated the ritual, and the tombstones began to glow faintly, their energies converging into a swirling vortex of light and shadows.

Seconds later, a new spirit emerged from the vortex.

[+ Armored Goblin Guard.]

It was a goblin, standing just a little over a meter tall, fully clad in crude armor and wielding a short sword.

The goblin looked tougher than the standard ones he had faced earlier.

"Alright, you're in," Karl nodded at the new summon.

Next, he accessed his [Spirit Storage] to transfer another 50 spirits into the cemetery for a second round of summoning.

This time, among the 50, he included two unique spirits: [Stormfang Wolf] and [Alexander Sovereign], both from battles that still lingered fresh in his mind.

When the tombstones for these spirits emerged, Karl noticed they were different.

The [Stormfang Wolf's] tombstone was covered in frost, giving off an icy chill.

Alexander Sovereign's tombstone, however, was pitch black, surrounded by an eerie void-like aura that seemed to devour light itself.

'So, stronger enemies get special tombstones,' Karl mused, examining the ominous designs.

He snapped his fingers to activate [Link], and the summoning process began.

From the ordinary tombstones, 48 goblins emerged as expected.

But from the frosty tombstone, the [Stormfang Wolf] appeared, massive and menacing, its icy breath visible in the cold air.

It glared at Karl, clearly remembering the battle they had fought during the novice trial.

"Damn, don't look at me like that. It's not personal," Karl muttered, rolling his eyes.

Then, from the void-touched tombstone, Alexander Sovereign materialized.

Unlike the wolf, Alexander didn't glare or show any emotion.

He simply stood there, silent, with hollow eyes staring at the ground.

'For a second, I thought he might talk,' Karl thought, relieved but unnerved by Alexander's eerie presence.

As all the spirits merged, something unexpected happened.

The merging process created a swirling black vortex, far darker and more intense than any Karl had seen before.

"What the...?" Karl instinctively stepped back, his senses on high alert.

The vortex expanded before finally stabilizing.

From it emerged a massive white wolf.

It looked almost identical to the [Stormfang Wolf], except for one glaring difference, black markings ran along its body like streaks of ink.

But the most striking detail?

The wolf carried a blade in its mouth, a weapon so dark it seemed to absorb all light around it.

[Sovereign Wolf (Level 11)]

[Talent: Voidblade Sovereign (SS)]

Karl blinked at the notification, then at the wolf.

"Huh."

It took a moment for the realization to sink in.

The wolf had inherited Alexander Sovereign's talent.

He approached cautiously, his curiosity piqued.

"Can I see the sword?"

The wolf lowered its head and obediently dropped the blade onto the ground.

Karl crouched, extending his hand toward the weapon.

The moment his fingers touched it, a sharp, searing pain shot up his arm.

His skin began to darken and burn as if the blade were rejecting him.

"Shit!" he cursed, pulling his hand back quickly.

The pain vanished, leaving his arm unharmed but tingling.

[You are not allowed to wield the Void Blade.]

Karl stared at the notification, then at the blade.

"Holy..." he whispered under his breath.

This was Alexander's weapon.

"Take it back," Karl ordered, gesturing to the wolf.

The [Sovereign Wolf] complied, picking the blade up in its mouth again.

"Can you use it?" Karl asked, watching the creature closely.

The wolf nodded.

Then it swung its head sharply, slashing the air with the blade.

Dark energy rippled with each motion, leaving faint black lines in the air that lingered briefly before fading.

Karl grinned.

"You're gonna be useful."

He had no doubt the [Sovereign Wolf] was now the strongest summon under his command.

"Alright, let's move. Only the boss is left."

The first few floors of the tower were relatively short, serving as an introduction to the challenges ahead.

And in comparison to the higher ones, they also didn't hold any real "trials" or overly dangerous encounters.

That was why they were called the [Tower's Tutorial].

But even so, Karl wasn't about to get cocky.

[Hell] difficulty wasn't something to take lightly.

Many people struggled to clear even the first floor on this setting.

His plan was simple: clear the floor, defeat the boss, and get as much experience as possible.

With the 24-hour cooldown before he could re-enter, maximizing his gains was crucial.

By defeating the boss, Karl would hit level 12.

After that, he could spend the cooldown time strategizing, gathering more spirits, and preparing for the next run.

If all went well, he could clear the floor six more times before the [Starlight Academy] exam.

That would hopefully get him to level 16 or 17, putting him in a solid position for the trials.

Returning his focus to the present, Karl whispered, "[Spirit Cemetery]" to exit the summoning space.

In an instant, he was back in the [Goblin Nest].

The [Sovereign Wolf] stood beside him, radiating an aura of power that even his other summons seemed to respect.

"Let's go," Karl commanded, leading his spirits deeper into the floor.

The cave was eerily quiet now, with no goblins left to ambush him.

But Karl stayed vigilant, knowing traps were always a possibility.

Eventually, he reached the end of the cave, where a massive door loomed before him.

A crude goblin sigil was carved into its surface, marking it as the entrance to the boss chamber.

Without hesitation, Karl pushed the door open.

Inside, a massive goblin sat on a stone throne, its crimson eyes glaring at the intruders.

[Level 15 Goblin King (Boss Monster)]

The boss rose from its throne, gripping a jagged sword nearly as tall as Karl.

"...Let's finish this," Karl muttered.

He raised his hand as his spirits growled in unison, ready for the fight.
