Awakening: I Became a Legendary Spirit Summoner-Chapter 22 - : The Goblin King, First Floor Completion
Chapter 22: Chapter 22: The Goblin King, First Floor Completion
The massive goblin king stood from its throne.
It gripped a jagged, oversized blade that was nearly double Karl's height.
For reference, Karl stood at 175 cm, so, yeah, that sword was huge.
"...Let's finish this," Karl muttered under his breath.
He raised a hand.
His spirits surrounded him, growling in unison as they prepared for battle.
[Level 15 Goblin King (Boss Monster)]
This chapt𝓮r is updat𝒆d by ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom.
[Strength - 120]
[Stamina - 105]
[Agility - 70]
[Mana - 5]
The stats popped up before Karl, and he immediately understood the danger he was facing.
This was a [Hell]-level boss, a foe capable of destroying teams of awakeners at his level without breaking a sweat.
Its strength stats alone were triple Karl's, and it wasn't even close.
The disparity was like comparing a mountain to a pebble.
Yet Karl didn't retreat.
His spirits shifted uneasily as the towering goblin king began stepping forward.
Its immense pressure was enough to make anyone feel like they were suffocating.
Karl felt it too, the weight of an opponent he had no chance of defeating in a fair fight.
Even with his [Spectral Blade], this wasn't going to be easy.
And yet...
He summoned the blade anyway.
With a quick command, five spirits from his storage vanished.
Their energy formed the shimmering weapon in his hand.
His spirits positioned themselves for the fight, ready to act on his will.
"Graaaaah!"
The goblin king let out a deafening roar, shaking the entire cavern.
It was angry, whether because Karl had slaughtered its minions or simply because he was there, he didn't know.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
The goblin king charged.
Each step shook the ground.
It raised its massive blade high above its head, preparing to bring it crashing down with unstoppable force.
Karl didn't move.
He couldn't afford to.
His only option was to trust his summons.
'Stop him,' Karl thought.
He sent the command mentally.
The moment the thought crossed his mind, his [Sovereign Wolf] leapt into action.
Karl's eyes widened as the massive white wolf, standing four meters tall, moved with purpose.
It didn't flinch in the face of the goblin king's blade.
Instead, it carried the [Void Blade] in its mouth, positioning itself to meet the attack head-on.
The clash happened in an instant, but it wasn't the dramatic, earth-shattering collision Karl had expected.
Instead, the goblin king's massive blade... shattered.
No, it wasn't even a contest.
The [Void Blade] sliced through the king's weapon like it was nothing more than a brittle twig.
"What...?"
Karl blinked, stunned.
Even his other summons seemed frozen in place, unsure of what they had just witnessed.
The [Sovereign Wolf] didn't stop there.
With a quick leap, it dashed toward the goblin king.
Its massive form was a blur of white and black.
In one swift, fluid motion, it swung the [Void Blade] in its mouth.
It slashed through the air with deadly precision.
Fwoosh! Slash!
The goblin king didn't even have time to react.
Its massive body froze mid-motion.
A dark aura spread from the clean slash that now bisected it.
[You have slain Level 15 Goblin King.]
The king's body fell to the ground in two pieces, lifeless.
The [Sovereign Wolf] landed gracefully.
It turned back toward Karl with what could only be described as a smug look.
If wolves could smirk, this one definitely was.
'Did... did that really just happen?' Karl thought.
He had prepared for a long and grueling fight, but his wolf had ended it in seconds.
As if to flaunt its victory, the wolf dropped the [Void Blade] on the ground.
It began tearing into the goblin king's corpse.
It chewed through flesh and bone effortlessly.
Eventually, it pulled its head back to reveal a glowing red orb in its mouth.
The wolf shook its head, tossing the orb to Karl.
He caught it mid-air.
[You have acquired the "Hell-Level Goblin King Core."]
Karl examined the core, impressed.
Cores from [Hell] difficulty bosses were incredibly rare and valuable in the higher stages.
The wolf seemed satisfied with its meal.
It grabbed the [Void Blade] from the ground once again, holding it in its mouth as if it were a toy.
[You have reached Level 12. You have gained 2 stat points for each of your stats.]
A portal appeared at the far end of the room, signaling the end of the floor.
Karl snapped his fingers, dismissing all his spirits except for the [Sovereign Wolf] and his trusty [Frenzied Rabbit].
He cautiously extended a hand toward the wolf's cheek, unable to reach its head due to its massive size.
The wolf leaned into his touch, its soft fur brushing against his hand.
"Huh... good work," Karl said, nodding.
"Keep it up."
The wolf wagged its tail slightly before disappearing into the [Spirit Cemetery] at Karl's command.
He didn't want to reveal all his cards, after all.
Keeping the wolf hidden was a strategic move.
And of course, Karl made sure to grab the [Goblin King's Spirit Orb].
Though this one was strangely the same size as all the others.
The [Frostfang Wolf] had given him a slightly larger and beautiful [Spirit Orb], allowing him to create the [Sovereign Wolf].
But maybe he wouldn't be so lucky each time.
With everything settled, Karl sighed and stepped through the portal, leaving the [First Floor].
Ding!
A panel appeared in front of him.
[You have completed the First Floor on Hell Difficulty!]
[Do you wish to head to the Second Floor?]
The option to move forward was available, but Karl already knew it wouldn't work.
Still, he tried out of curiosity.
Beep!
[Come back after finishing your Entrance Examination and entering an academy.]
Karl let out a small sigh.
He figured as much.
The [Second Floor] wasn't accessible yet.
He'd have to focus on leveling up and preparing for the exams first.
The first floor had been relatively straightforward, especially with the [Sovereign Wolf] taking care of the boss.
With his current strategy, he planned to clear the floor six more times before the exam.
That should bring him to around Level 15 or 16.
That was his best option for increasing his chances of joining the prestigious [Starlight Academy].
With a flash of light, Karl reappeared outside the tower, back in the bustling square.
The area was even more crowded now, it was already past noon, and more players had gathered to attempt the trial.
"Did you hear? Some people beat the [Goblin Nest] on Hell Difficulty solo!"
"No way! That's insane."
"Whoever they are must be aiming for Starlight Academy..."
Karl instinctively glanced around, feeling the buzz of conversation around him.
Thankfully, no one seemed to realize he was one of them.
The attention wasn't directed his way, at least for now.
Instead, the crowd was surrounding a tall, red-haired man with a confident, mature demeanor.
"Thank you for your support, friends," the man said with a bow, "But I must take my leave, I need to prepare for my next attempt tomorrow."
He was clearly another skilled awakener.
Likely using the same strategy as Karl, clearing the floor repeatedly to maximize experience and resources.
It was the most efficient way to prepare for the academy entrance exams.
Karl left the square quietly, not wanting to draw unnecessary attention.
His [Frenzied Rabbit] sat perched on his head, earning a few odd looks from passersby.
Now that the first floor was cleared, Karl had a solid plan in mind.
With his [Sovereign Wolf] leading the charge, he was confident he could handle the challenges ahead.
Tomorrow, he would return to the [Goblin Nest], stronger and more prepared than ever.
