Another roommate, Ye Meng, timidly said, "I think no matter where our new roommate comes from, we should get along peacefully."

The two nodded in agreement, and the three reached a consensus.

As the group left the girls’ dormitory, Lin Ying glanced at Tang Jing walking alongside Chen Xinyue and kept winking at Chen Xinyue.

Chen Xinyue found it impossible to pretend not to notice, so she stopped, held Tang Jing’s hand, and asked with a smile, "Jingjing, I’ve never been to your house. It’s rare for me to come all the way here; would you mind?"

Tang Jing was taken aback for a moment but agreed without much thought.

"But I still have to work, so I’m afraid I can only host you all in the evening."

Lin Ying quickly smiled and said, "No problem, no problem. We can just stroll around the campus and take more photos to bring back."

"Exactly, exactly, we brought a camera, but haven’t had the chance to use it!" Lin Yi quickly took out his precious gadget.

Tang Jing covered her mouth in a stifled laugh and, after briefly explaining a few areas of the campus, left.

Xiao Jinlin arranged for a school sightseeing vehicle to take everyone around the different parts of the campus, even including the library.

By the time they finished touring the campus, it was almost dusk.

Once Tang Jing’s call came in, everyone immediately met up with her. However, this time only Chen Xinyue went to Tang Jing’s place, with Xu Jian as the mandatory driver and bodyguard, while the others went to a restaurant to relax.

On the way, while Xu Jian focused on driving, Chen Xinyue caught up with Tang Jing.

Seated in the luxurious car, Tang Jing let out a contented sigh, wiped her sweat, twisted open a bottle of mineral water to hand over to Chen Xinyue, and also opened one for herself, drinking several gulps before recovering, "Xinyue, did you drive over?"

Chen Xinyue shook her head, glanced at Xu Jian up front, and chuckled softly, "No, with so many people coming, and me not being comfortable riding long distances, Jinlin arranged a yacht for us, so we came by boat."

"Pfft!" Tang Jing sprayed out the water from her mouth, stunned.

Xu Jian couldn’t help but mutter, "Cousin, you could leave some things unsaid; you’ll scare people!"

Not only was Tang Jing shocked, but even he still found it unbelievable; Xiao Jinlin really has money to burn, incredibly extravagant.

Xu Jian kept shaking his head, and Chen Xinyue rare turned serious, "Cousin, you should really find someone soon; if you don’t, no one will want you! Look at my aunt, she’s so stressed about your marriage!"

Xu Jian grumbled in grievance, "It’s just that I haven’t found the right one! I’d rather have none than settle for less."

Chen Xinyue rolled her eyes, turned to Tang Ning who had just recovered her composure, and asked with a smile, "Jingjing, when can I have your wedding sweets?"

Tang Jing hurriedly waved her hands, "I don’t even know where my partner is, what wedding sweets! I can take you to eat cake though."

Chen Xinyue giggled heartily, while Tang Jing remained serious, "I’m being honest with you, there’s a newly opened dessert shop near my home, and their cakes are really delicious.

I couldn’t afford such things when I was a kid, but now I can, so I buy myself a cake after work every Friday as a treat."

Seeing Tang Jing’s satisfied and happy expression, Chen Xinyue smiled, "Our Jingjing is so impressive now, there’s nothing she can’t have! You’re just lacking a partner, right? My cousin here also doesn’t have one, why don’t you two give it a shot?"

Xu Jian was so startled, his hand shook, causing the steering wheel to swerve briefly before he quickly corrected it.

The two of them in the backseat were also startled.

Once Chen Xinyue came to her senses, she smacked Xu Jian in frustration, "Cousin, do you have some sort of grievance against me?"

Xu Jian, pained, grimaced slightly, "How could I dare! It was just an accident, are you guys alright?"

Tang Jing shook her head.

Except for that little mishap, there was a bit of awkwardness in the car.

Yet, Chen Xinyue acted as if nothing was wrong, continuing her chat with Tang Jing, "Do you still go back to your hometown?"

Tang Jing shook her head, "I’ve already bought a house and settled here, what’s the reason to go back? Besides, I don’t have the time now!"

"What about your parents and siblings?" Chen Xinyue asked curiously.

Tang Jing sighed helplessly, "When I was still in grad school, I wanted my parents to come live with me, but they stubbornly refused, saying that my brother and I still hadn’t found jobs, and they needed to stay in our hometown to keep farming and saving money.

I couldn’t argue with them, so I could only send them some money each year. Later, my brother graduated and went to Guangdong Province, working in the finance trade there, running his own wholesale business and sending goods to our hometown for a profit margin.

Originally it was just a side gig, but it really did succeed, my elder brother and two sisters started sourcing goods from him and selling them at stalls, earning a bit of money too.

Eventually, my brother bought a house in Guangdong Province and brought our parents over to take care of them. He’s more capable than me; he graduated and was soon in a relationship, got married last year, and now my parents are eagerly waiting for my sister-in-law to have a baby, so they won’t have any worries then."

"What about you? Aren’t they anxious for you?" Chen Xinyue found it intriguing.

Tang Jing didn’t expect the conversation to circle back to this, and her expression fell, "It doesn’t help being anxious! They’re in Guangdong Province, and I’m here. It takes a day and a night on the train to visit, plus several hours on the bus. Apart from the travel exhaustion, the most important thing is the cost. The old couple has been frugal all their lives and they’ll never spend that money.

Even if they call me, they’re worried about the call expense, so one call a week to urge me is considered plenty, and I only spend a few minutes responding, not much of an impact."

Chen Xinyue playfully chided her with a look, "Oh! Our Jingjing has turned naughty!"

The two of them laughed and joked around until they reached their destination.

As they got out of the car, Xu Jian noticeably glanced around at the nearby dessert shop a couple of times.

Tang Jing immediately pointed at it, "That’s the place, their desserts are really good! I’ll get some and bring it back!"

Xu Jian quickly responded, "You two go on up, I’ll go buy them."

"Yeah! Let my cousin do it!" Chen Xinyue subtly pulled Tang Jing upstairs.

When Xu Jian came up, he was carrying several bags filled with a variety of desserts, including the shop’s signature flavors.

Tang Jing was astonished, "So many! We can’t finish them all!"

Chen Xinyue laughed heartily, "What are you worried about! If we can’t finish, there’s always Miao Qing! Call her over to help eat."

Zhou Miaqing’s family lived in this complex too, and with just one phone call, both Zhou’s parents even came over.

Thankfully with so many desserts, everyone had a share.

Zhou’s parents, upon seeing Chen Xinyue’s belly, were filled with envy and praise for her, starting to complain to Chen Xinyue, "Xinyue, you’re really something. Our Miao Qing, honestly, she’s quite average in looks, ability, talent, family background, and I don’t know what’s in her mind; people introduce her to wealthy and handsome prospects, and she doesn’t care for them, always looking for problems where none exist!"
