Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife-Chapter 1419 - 1420: Begging Sister-in-law Qi
Plans?
Chen Shouwang felt a moment of confusion and panic. He hadn’t thought about it; after learning about the list, he was completely bewildered and had never considered what he could do if he weren’t a soldier anymore.
So he couldn’t answer Hualing’s question.
Hualing looked at him with his drooping head and slightly hunched back, and the anger she had just suppressed flared up again.
She thought of Qi Taiguo, who always stood so upright and straight, never with the hunched back that made him look like an old man.
Since when did Chen Shouwang’s back become like this? She hadn’t even noticed.
Suddenly, Hualing’s heart felt sour again, and she quickly looked away, afraid she might lose control and get angry again.
"Don’t you have any plans? If you really get discharged, you need to do something, right? Otherwise, I can skip meals, but the child needs to eat!" Hualing asked through gritted teeth.
Chen Shouwang bowed his head, his lips moved slightly, and he said, "It’s not confirmed yet."
Hualing sneered, "Since your name is on the list, how much more chance do you think you have of being removed? What qualifies you not to be removed? You’re someone who received disciplinary action and got demoted; your record is messy."
Chen Shouwang pressed his lips together.
"Last year, Cheng Su talked to me about this too. I guess they were preparing to remove you then, so I advise you not to hold out hope!" Hualing said indifferently.
Chen Shouwang replied, "If I’m really discharged, then I’ll find a job; I can always earn money to support you and the child."
Hualing felt even worse hearing this. When she chose him, it was because he was attentive to her, treated her well, and seemed to have a future. Turns out, that’s not enough!
She looked at the potatoes rolling on the ground, and tears fell as she sniffled.
"I’m sorry, it’s all my fault for being useless..." Chen Shouwang froze at the sound of her sniffle and quickly glanced up at her.
"What’s the use of saying sorry?" Hualing stubbornly wiped her tears, then picked up the scattered vegetables and went to the kitchen.
Chen Shouwang watched her back, which had grown rounder after childbirth, and bit his teeth tightly, angrily slapping himself.
...
Cheng Su sat leisurely on the sofa with a book, and next to her was a bowl of peanuts. She occasionally grabbed a couple to toss into her mouth as Qi Fengping hurried over.
"Sister-in-law!"
"What’s up?"
Qi Fengping came up looking as if she had found new land, whispering, "Sister Hualing from next door is crying in the kitchen!"
Cheng Su paused, her brows furrowing slightly.
"Really, I saw her wiping her tears. She even asked if you were home." Qi Fengping said again, thinking Cheng Su didn’t believe her.
"I’ll go take a look." Cheng Su put down the book and stood up.
No need to guess, Hualing is probably crying because of Chen Shouwang’s situation.
When she arrived in the kitchen, Guiying was also there, quietly comforting Hualing and saying something. Seeing Cheng Su, Guiying brightened up like seeing a savior, and said, "Why don’t you ask Sister-in-law Qi for help? Isn’t Deputy Battalion Commander Qi in charge of this matter?"
"What are you saying?" Cheng Su furrowed her brow and walked over.
Hualing turned her head, her eyes indeed red like a rabbit’s. She looked at Cheng Su and asked, "Did you know about this all along?"
Cheng Su showed a questioning look.
"Did you know early on that Chen Shouwang’s name was on the list for personnel changes?" Hualing asked again.
