Back to the Past to Become a Fishing King-Chapter 570 - 327: A Wise Choice (Part 2)
After taking everything, they made an inventory record with the warehouse manager and got it signed. Then, with great swagger, Liu Zi took Xiaobao back to the dormitory.
"Where are we going? The dorm?" Xiaobao asked while following behind.
"Yes! The dorm is quiet!" Liu Zi said, and started running towards the dormitory as if escaping.
He hadn't run far when he heard Wang Yan shouting from behind, "Liu Zi, don't run! Stand right there!"
Hearing Wang Yan's call, Liu Zi slowed down and stopped, leaving Xiaobao puzzled.
He hadn't even fought with Brother Yan for the materials. Why was he being stopped? Was there something else?
"Liu Zi, I ask you, have I not treated you well usually? Now the time has come for you to be tested by the organization!" Wang Yan quickly caught up with his long legs, put his arm around Liu Zi's shoulders, and said in a friendly manner.
The posture and tone of voice made one who didn't know better think they had some relationship beyond normal friendship.
"Yan... Brother Yan, what do you want now? I didn't take even a set of materials; I left them all for you guys!" Liu Zi shrank his neck, looking a bit pitiful as he said.
"It's not about the materials! You know, do me a small favor?" Wang Yan spoke with a cigarette in his mouth, looking harmless.
"I'll do anything except tying hooks and lines!" Liu Zi continued.
"Hehe, look at you, everyone knows you're good at tying lines. Just tie a bit for me, alright? I feel assured using what you tie!"
Well, what was meant to come could not be avoided. Liu Zi couldn't dodge Wang Yan's request and had no choice but to agree.
Going to the dorm wasn't an option anymore, so they could only head to the activity room on the company side. A group of people sat around a table, with various fishing lines, accessories, measuring tapes, and other small items spread all over, each person busy with their tasks.
Competitions are quite different from regular leisure fishing; normally you could use a set of 1.0 sub-lines for half a month without changing.
But not in competitions; in an event like the Fishing King Cup preliminary round, the finer the line setup, the better. With different models and sizes, along with main and backup lines, preparing at least a dozen or twenty setups is barely enough.
Liu Zi was roped into hard labor, and Xiaobao couldn't go back to the dorm either. He stood beside Liu Zi lending a hand, watching as Liu Zi tied lines with a bitter expression.
With the pre-competition preparations completed, everyone left the company early that evening.
The next morning at seven, everyone had gathered on time.
The fishing destination this time was Antai City, roughly four or five hundred kilometers away from W City. They set off in the morning, and would basically arrive at the destination by the afternoon.
Both Liu Zi and Xiaobao were familiar with the dimension of riding to go fishing. The two of them chattered and joked to pass the time, and by the time they got off the expressway and reached Antai City, it was already past two in the afternoon.
"Boss, shall we go to the hotel to settle our luggage first?" Han Qiang couldn't help but ask.
Zhang Yang shook his head, "No, trust me, let's go to Jiulong Mountain Villa first!!"
"Going straight to the outskirts as soon as we get off the expressway? We have plenty of time, tomorrow isn't too late to go!" Han Qiang was a bit unresponsive for a moment.
"Follow my arrangements, don't guess blindly! The longer the night, the more troublesome it becomes, let's first check out the venue and see the situation!" Zhang Yang said firmly.
Under Zhang Yang's strong insistence, they didn't even rush to check-in, and drove with navigation straight to Jiulong Mountain Villa.
Jiulong Mountain Villa is located in the suburbs of Antai City, about thirty kilometers in a straight line from the highway exit. By the time the car reached there, it was four in the afternoon.
Under the guidance of the navigation, the group successfully arrived at Jiulong Mountain Villa.
At the gate, Zhang Yang already sensed a slight ominous atmosphere; various signs indicating the preparation and execution stage of the event had been hung up in advance. The atmosphere was already present before the competition even started.
"Look, see? We aren't the only smart ones!" Zhang Yang pointed to another Land Cruiser with an out-of-town plate in the distance through the windshield.
The old guard at the villa gate didn't lift the barrier seeing Zhang Yang and his group had out-of-town plates.
However, the owner of the Land Cruiser seemed to have come prepared; he spoke a few words, offered a cigarette, and quickly arranged things with the guard.
The barrier lifted, and the Land Cruiser sped through with a press of the gas pedal. Zhang Yang and his group seized the opportunity and followed right in. The old guard thought they were together and didn't stop them.
Once inside the villa gates, Zhang Yang glanced in the rearview mirror; sure enough, Wang Yan and their cars were all stopped outside. Despite pleading for quite a while, the guard didn't let them in.
"Haha, Brother Wang and the others are all stuck outside!" Liu Zi said gloatingly.
Zhang Yang nodded, "The car in front definitely had some connections! You see, my decision was wise, we're in now, just get an idea of the situation and go back to share with everyone."
The car continued on the steep uphill concrete road for about seven to eight minutes, and a change of scenery appeared before them: a large standard competition pond built halfway up the hill.
It's no exaggeration to say, the venue's hardware condition is excellent, with a concrete road leading directly to the parking space, the fishing area surrounded by marble, and the landscaped area behind is very nicely maintained.
There are a total of four ponds, constructed to a standard of 50m×22m national competition pools.
From the moment they got out of the car, Zhang Yang had been examining the condition of the ponds.
The fishing spots were very clean, and the venue's hardware was quite good, but there was one thing that made Zhang Yang frown.
The water in the pond was showing signs of an unhealthy gray-green color, indicating a massive outbreak of harmful algae, which is not a good thing for competitive fishing.
Poor water quality means the microalgae community in the water isn't healthy, affecting dissolved oxygen, ammonia nitrogen values, and other factors that set off a chain reaction, eventually affecting the fish's feeding behavior.
Just by looking at the conditions in the pond, Zhang Yang had already formed a preliminary impression about the fish situation.
Poor water quality indicates that the administrator of these ponds is not professional, making it difficult to have good fishing conditions during the competition.
As Zhang Yang was contemplating the color of the water in the pond, a handsome man in his thirties approached from not far away.
"Hey, buddy! Are you also here to check out the venue?"
The guy greeting them had a sunny disposition, smiling and greeting before even speaking. Such a person rarely leaves a bad impression.
"Yes, you must be the owner of the Land Cruiser from the gate; I followed your car to get in, while the rest of our team's vehicles are all stuck outside.
"Haha! It's not bragging, but you guys are pretty lucky. From what I've heard through my channels, no one has been allowed in since this morning!
I spent some social capital to get in! My name is Han Mocheng, what can I call you?"
Zhang Yang grinned, "Hello, my name is Zhang Yang! Beside me is Liu Zi, and Xiaobao! We're indeed benefiting from your fortunes! Since we're already here, should we test some gear?"
"I was just thinking that! I noticed you were observing the water in the pond; did you find something unusual? Although I love fishing, my skills are lacking, and I'd love to learn from you!"
Facing a polite and humble stranger, Zhang Yang was willing to chat a bit with him.
"There's a problem with the pond's water quality, blue-green algae have surfaced! The management here likely doesn't know how to manage the water!" Zhang Yang shared his assessment.
"I heard that they just restocked the fish for the competition a week ago! It shouldn't be like this, could there be other factors?"
"Did it rain here the past two days? Rainwater could cause a blue-green algae bloom!"
"That matches up! You're quite sharp! Insightful!"
Zhang Yang smiled slightly, "Just a bit of basic knowledge! Since we're here, let's not waste time, and quickly test the conditions and fish behavior!"
With Zhang Yang's reminder, Liu Zi and Xiaobao each carried their tackle box and found a vacant pond to start testing the waters.
