Beast-Tamer: Limitless Evolution-Chapter 223: Slightly Troublesome
Slightly Troublesome
Despite seeming relaxed, Osho, Gale, and Bedrock were observing the wendigo quite closely.
Sure, it looked like it couldn’t react to that attack just now, but they all knew that it was disoriented from its sudden summoning.
Gale floated down until he was just above the head of the colossus Bedrock created, and the three stared at the dust that filled where the wendigo had been smashed into.
All of a sudden, the dust swirled like a vortex, and the wendigo was revealed to be on all fours, its skull-like head aimed at them, and in front of it, and pitch black orb of destructive corruption formed and was shot out like a cannon.
Bedrock instantly created several walls of earth to block the attack, and while they succeeded in stopping it, it still blew through more than half before coming to a stop.
None of them could dwell on this, though, as the wendigo leaned forward before shooting towards them, corruption swarming around its form like a cloak that affected the surroundings.
Gale and Bedrock reacted immediately. Bedrock created several obstructions to slow down the creature while Gale unleashed several blades of wind and lightning strikes.
What played out next let Osho realize that this fight wouldn’t be so simple.
There was a faint gleam, and without hesitation, Gale moved to the side while Bedrock suddenly created another barrier around himself.
Then, without any noise, a vertical slash of corruption went out.
It missed Gale by a few meters but hit the colossus directly, and Osho frowned as Bedrock confirmed that he had indeed been hit, though, the final and strongest layer of his armor soaked up all the damage.
When the attack subsided, Osho could clearly see a clear bisection in space where the attack had passed, and his frown deepened.
’Gale?’ He called out.
’... Okay, so I might have underestimated the thing a bit.’ Gale spoke, his voice uncharacteristically serious, but there was also an undertone of excitement to it.
At that moment, the colossus completely crumbled, and Bedrock’s true body fell to the ground clad in his armor.
There was a fissure on the front that was a few centimeters deep, but it was quickly mending itself.
Finally, the Wendigo revealed itself once more. It looked completely unharmed by the barrage of attacks. Or rather, it was healing so fast that it didn’t seem to be taking any damage.
’Burning through your existence rapidly to ensure you don’t get killed quickly. Interesting strategy.’ Osho thought as Gale hovered closer to the ground.
Both sides observed each other briefly, then the Wendigo aimed its head upwards, and roared.
The sound was simply indescribable, but the closest one would be able to get to describing it would be saying it sounded like glass constantly grinding and popping.
With the roar, a literal tsunami of corrupt Mana burst forth from its body and swept in all directions, engulfing everything in its path.
Seeing this, Osho’s pupils shrank.
Without hesitation, he sent a message to the others before Gale dived behind Bedrock, who had already pulled out his tower shield.
The Gorilla smashed it into the ground, which morphed into a sphere around them, and a moment later, the tsunami crashed into the barrier and swept over it.

"Well, that’s not good." Ellie muttered and looked in the direction of the battle that was currently taking place. Her expression was somber, which was the same for the others.
They all saw Osho’s message, and simply put, he told them to stop the tide from getting too close to where the soldiers were, and consequently, the Citadel.
Because the tsunami wasn’t constrained to where they were fighting. No, the Wendigo didn’t care about collateral damage, it only cared about taking down its target.
What’s more, they could see it.
The tide was over a hundred meters tall and heading in their direction at an absurd speed. They only had a bit over a minute before it hit.
At that moment, several figures descended from the sky.
Timothy, Jane, William, and Thompson.
"We saw Osho’s message." William said as soon as his feet hit the ground.
"Even if we didn’t, it’s pretty hard to miss that." Jane said while staring at the incoming tide.
"Yeah. Well, we know what to do. So everyone with good defensive abilities, you’re about to have your work cut out for you." As Timothy said this, he summoned his beast.
It sort of resembled a golem. However, its body seemed to be made of crystallized light, and as soon as it appeared, the surrounding area was illuminated quite a bit.
Jane summoned Nora, Simon summoned his Rhino, and the people whose beasts had proper defensive abilities stepped forward.
This meant that Irene, Kurt, and William had to sit things out, as their beasts didn’t quite possess any potent defensive abilities.
By now, the tsunami wasn’t so close that they could hear it, and without hesitation, their beasts moved.
In mere moments, a massive curved wall had appeared made up of a myriad of elements that spanned for several kilometers in either direction. Moreover, in front of it were tall rockstructures that didn’t seem that powerful individually, but there were hundreds of them, meant to soak up the damage as much as possible until the tide struck.
’It’d be nice if you could deal with this quickly, Osho!’ Ellie grit her teeth as she made Sugil reinforce her part of the wall as much as possible.
A moment later, the tsunami struck.

’How troublesome.’ Osho’s lip curled as the barrier constantly shook from the immense wave of corrupt Mana washing over it. It held strong, but that wasn’t the issue.
With that much corrupt Mana being released at once, there was a genuine concern for the damage it could cause to the environment.
’I wanted us to just wait until the thing ran out of energy. But I guess that’s no longer an option.’ He huffed. The longer this went on, the more damage would be caused, and there was also the fact that the others were preventing the tsunami from causing too much collateral damage, but who knew how long that would last?
’Gale?’ Osho asked as he transmitted his intentions to the bird.
’Yeah, I can do it.’ He replied simply, and Osho nodded as he got off his back.
"You’ll move when Gale gives the signal? Okay?" He told Bedrock, who just nodded
With that done, he stood at the far side of the sphere as Gale brought his wings together, and his domain condensed around his body.
His feathers which had been augmented by Osho’s efforts started to release a certain frequency as they began to vibrate at an insane speed, and energy started to condense around them.
The markings all over his body lit up as well, and in a few seconds, everything reached a crescendo as Gale’s eyes lit up like two blue suns.
"Now!" Gale said, and Bedrock moved to the side while simultaneously deactivating the barrier.
As soon as he did, the tide of corrupt Mana immediately tried to swallow them.
But Gale was faster.
He flapped his wings, and in an instant, the entire tsunami was split apart as four slashes stacked on each other went out at an impossible speed.
Everything in the attack’s path was sliced in half, from the ground, all the way to the clouds high in the sky. Not even space was spared, as a deep black fissure had appeared along the path of the slash.
One moment, the tide of black had threatened to swallow everything, and in the next, it was bisected cleanly.
As for the Wendigo...
The creature was cut from the top down.
Everything was still for a moment, and then, absurdly, strands of corruption from both halves started to stretch out and connect with each other to pull the thing back together. Clearly, it wasn’t done.
But Osho was.
"End it." He said simply to his beasts, and both of them nodded.
Gale took to the sky while Bedrock stepped forward.
Gale spread his domain to its maximum size, and using its connection to the sky, he... brought a portion of the sky downwards.
At the same time, Bedrock used his connection to the earth, and he smashed his hands together.
As for what they were doing?
Well, it was a joint attack that the two of them had developed a while ago.
You see, before, Gale could use the atmospheric pressure from his domain to crush his opponents, but after becoming more adept in the concepts he possessed, he upgraded that particular ability a step further.
The term "The Weight of the Heavens?"
Yeah, Gale took that literally, and he learned how to press the weight of the heavens on his opponents. The further up they tried to go, the worse the weight would become.
But in that case, one would simply not leave the ground. Right?
It sounded like the right choice... until you remembered that Gale could bring the sky to you.
At the same time, Bedrock had developed a similar ability, but in reverse.
He could make the earth ’reject’ his opponents. The closer one got to the ground, the worse this rejection became, until his target was simply reduced to mush.
Now, what would happen if one had to bear the weight of the heavens while also being rejected by the earth?
Well, the Wendigo was about to find out.
