Beast taming, starting from zero point-Chapter 189 - 180: Keep It a Secret
Chapter 189 -180: Keep It a Secret
All the materials were lined up in a row.
The ring was put back on by Xiao Xunbao, who then brought its claw tips together, drawing out the energy from the materials into the ring with an inward surge of its own power.
To the naked eye, purple and red specks of light continually transferred from above the materials to the ring, now emitting a pale yellow glow.
Looks like I’ll have to buy a new batch… Qiao Sang winced at the sight of several wilted materials.
I used to think buying pet beasts was expensive, but I later realized that the money pales in comparison to the cost of raising them.
In the end, it’s still a matter of lacking funds.
The seven-figure balance in my bank account no longer felt reassuring.
With that thought, Qiao Sang went back to her room, picked up the phone from her desk, and dialed her mother’s number.
“Hello, Mom? It’s been two days, when are you coming over?” As soon as the call connected, Qiao Sang couldn’t wait to ask.
“I just got back to Hangkang this afternoon and am already on my way to you,” her mother replied.
Just got back to Hangkang? Qiao Sang was slightly taken aback: “Where have you been these past two days?”
“…Let’s not talk about it now, the signal is bad up in the sky, we’ll chat when I get there.”
“Jiubi~”
“Dudu dudu…”
Qiao Sang looked at the disconnected call and couldn’t help but be speechless.
In this day and age, claiming to have a bad signal at the altitude and speed Fat Home Jiubi flies at is hardly credible.
…
One hour later.
In the living room.
Ye Xiangting placed several bags she was holding onto the coffee table: “I bought some Red Luan Fruits, Tuo You Fruits, and Nian Nian Fruits, which are both Yaobao and Xiao Xunbao’s favorites. Call them over to have some.”
Glancing at the fruits on the coffee table, Qiao Sang asked, “And mine?”
Ye Xiangting looked stunned, then coughed and said, “How old are you? Can’t you buy your own food?”
Great, it seems she didn’t buy any for me… Qiao Sang headed to the courtyard and called out to her two pet beasts: “Yaobao, Xiao Xunbao, come quick! There’s something tasty.”
“Xun!”
Xiao Xunbao gleefully called out, immediately vanishing from the courtyard.
Having absorbed the materials and practiced its skills for half the day, it was already famished.
Yaobao put away its doppelganger and approached its Beast Tamer, lifting its head and blinking its eyes.
“Ya Ya?”
Qiao Sang was taken aback and replied, “It’s not food I made.”
“Ya!”
Yaobao’s eyes lit up, and it excitedly trotted off to the living room.
Leaving Qiao Sang standing in place, looking perplexed.
Was it my imagination, or did Yaobao seem unusually happy when it heard the food wasn’t made by me?
When Qiao Sang returned to the living room, she saw her mother taking countless photos of Yaobao, who was eating Red Luan Fruits, with her phone.
Xiao Xunbao floated beside her mother, munching on Tuo You Fruits and curiously looking at the photos on the phone.
Yaobao wasn’t actually eating the Red Luan Fruits, but instead held one between its teeth, posing motionless towards the phone’s camera.
“That’s it, so cool!” her mother exclaimed with praises as she looked at the photos in her phone.
“Let’s take another one, lift your head a little,” she directed as she crouched down to take another shot from a different angle.
Yaobao, with a Red Luan Fruit in its mouth, lifted its head about 15 degrees upward.
“So handsome, absolute perfection!” Mother voiced her satisfaction.
After three full minutes of snapping photos, Mother finally put down her phone. Then she turned her head and caught sight of Xiao Xunbao beside her.
“Do you want to be photographed? Let me take a few shots of you too,” Mother said with a smile.
“Xun~”
Xiao Xunbao didn’t hesitate and struck a pose.
Qiao Sang: “…”

Five minutes later.
Sitting on the sofa, Mother looked at Yaobao and Xiao Xunbao, who were still eating, and lamented, “You’ve raised them so well. Yaobao goes without saying, but the Treasure-seeking Ghost—if only you saw it when it first came to our house; it wasn’t nearly as lively.”
“Well, it’s grown up now,” Qiao Sang suddenly remembered something, “By the way, Mum, you never told me on the phone, where did you go these past few days?”
Mother cleared her throat, “Well, you weren’t home anyway, and there happened to be a Beast Taming competition in Fu Zhou recently, so I went to have a look.”
Qiao Sang was stunned for a moment, “Fu Zhou is by the border of the Yuhua Region, right? You went that far just to watch the competition?”
“It’s all because the autograph of the Sharp-Claw Bear was lost last time. I heard that Wang Dian’ao would be at the competition in Fu Zhou this time, so I thought I’d try my luck and see if I could get another autograph of the Sharp-Claw Bear,” Mother said wistfully.
This topic should not be continued… Qiao Sang smoothly changed the subject, “How are your considerations for opening the pet nurturing shop going?”
“Everything else is fine; it’s just that the shop isn’t going to open up in a short while. If by the time my nurturing shop opens, what if no one wants to buy Fire-Toothed Dogs anymore?” Mother worried.
“It’ll be fine,” Qiao Sang replied, “The method of evolving Fire-Toothed Dogs into Flame Listening Dogs is still unknown. Even if the research institute figures it out, it’s likely to take several months. By then, those who are determined to buy Fire-Toothed Dogs will increase.”
“Just proceed with preparations for the shop as normal; we’ll specialize in Pet Beast Eggs. Even if the research outcome is delayed, we can preempt management issues.”
“Becoming a Beast Tamer really has made you smart,” Ye Xiangting said contentedly, “Alright, I got it. You just focus on your studies, don’t worry about anything else.”
“I have some money on hand. I’ll transfer it to you to use for the shop,” Qiao Sang said, picking up his phone to process the transfer.
Ye Xiangting snatched the phone with one hand, frowning, “Your mum has some savings, no need to use your money. You’ve just become a Beast Tamer and need to nurture two pet beasts, it’s a critical time. Keep your money for yourself.”
Qiao Sang paused, then firmly said, “Mum, I knew you had money!”
Ye Xiangting: “…”
…
At night.
The world was quiet.
Waiting until Qiao Sang and Yaobao had fallen asleep, Xiao Xunbao stealthily removed the ring and placed the Virtual Helmet inside it.
Then it floated out of the room to the living room, took out the Virtual Helmet, and was about to put it on and flip the switch when it suddenly noticed a puddle of water on the floor straight ahead.
Above this puddle was a head poking out, and those dark eyes were staring straight at it.
Xiao Xunbao and Shuilu Yana looked at each other.
After three seconds of staring, Xiao Xunbao took out some milk from the ring and handed it to Shuilu Yana.
“Xun Xun…”
Keep this a secret…
Shuilu Yana hesitated looking at the milk in front of him, then extended a paw from half of his body that had emerged to accept it, nodding solemnly in appreciation.
“Lulu!”
…
The next morning.
Qiao Sang woke up to find Xiao Xunbao sleeping on the bed.
Three days in a row. Is this normal for a Spectral-type Pet…?
Without thinking too much about it, Qiao Sang quickly washed up, ate a piece of bread, drank a glass of milk, and then set off for school.
As soon as he reached the school gates, he saw Shi Gaofeng having a tug-of-war with a fair-looking girl.
Shi Gaofeng was heard shouting, “Stop following me!”
“I won’t, not unless you change your mind!” the girl said stubbornly.
“I’m not going to change!” Shi Gaofeng said angrily.
“I’m not leaving if you don’t change!” the girl insisted.
The love-hate drama of high schoolers, huh…? Qiao Sang moved his steps, attempting to avoid their gaze and enter the school.
Just then, Shi Gaofeng suddenly caught sight of him and excitedly waved him over, “Qiao Sang! Come help me!”
Why be so observant… Qiao Sang reluctantly walked over and asked, “What’s up?”
“Hear me out,” Shi Gaofeng said aggrievedly, “Just because Fantasy Water Baby was unprofessional, Zheng Baolong called my mom directly yesterday. I have no idea what I’m in for today, and this person has the nerve to come over asking me to change the review.”
“When I got a one-star bad review, I never went to trouble anyone else.”
Qiao Sang: “…”
Turns out it’s not about high schooler’s love or resentment at all…
