Beast Taming: Starting From Zero-Chapter 703: Mentor
Dosharila’s expression instantly changed when she looked at Qiao Sang.
At that moment, the class bell rang.
Professors at Yulianton University never run overtime.
Dosharila snapped back to her senses and smiled again, “Class is dismissed.”
Upon hearing that, everyone started packing up and getting ready to leave.
Qiao Sang stood up with the crowd.
Just then, Dr. Dosharila’s voice rang out, “You, please stay behind for a moment.”
Everyone’s movements slowed, and they all turned in perfect unison to look at the black-haired girl who had been singled out.
“Me?” Qiao Sang was startled and pointed at herself.
Dosharila gave a slight nod.
“Yes.”
Although the students were curious as to why she had been asked to stay, they still left the classroom one by one.
Qiao Sang, holding Yabao, walked to the podium. Before she could speak, Dr. Dosharila eagerly asked: “You have an Ice Xilu from Blue Star?”
Having long studied projects related to emotional energy in pet beasts, she naturally knew that Ice Xilu was an high-level form of the species Water Luriana.
It was the perfect subject for research, as the entire evolution chain relied on emotional energy, with each stage requiring a different kind.
If Water Luriana were just an ordinary pet beast from Blue Star, it wouldn’t be hard to get one for research.
Unfortunately, Water Luriana was an endangered species, any application for it was immediately denied.
She’d thought she might only see one if she ever visited Blue Star herself. Who would have guessed a student attending her lecture would actually possess the advanced form, Ice Xilu?
Dosharila’s face was filled with excitement and anticipation, making it impossible for Qiao Sang not to notice.
She hesitated, then gave a soft “Mm.”
“That’s wonderful!” Dosharila’s eyes lit up as she exclaimed excitedly: “Quick, summon it for me to see!”
For some reason, Qiao Sang saw a resemblance to Guwu people in Dr. Dosharila’s behavior. Without hesitation, she formed a hand seal.
An orange-yellow star formation lit up, and Lubao quickly appeared within it.
This color of star formation wasn’t unusual in Union University, a place filled with elite talents.
Dosharila instinctively ignored the star formation’s color, her full attention was on the rare beast she’d only ever seen in documents.
So this was Ice Xilu... Dosharila couldn’t help but reach out, wanting to touch it.
“Lu-”
Lubao was in a bad mood. Seeing a stranger reach out, she flicked her tail and smacked her hand.
Startled, Qiao Sang quickly said, “Sorry, Professor. My Ice Xilu doesn’t like being touched by others.”
“It’s fine.” Dosharila pulled her hand back, still warm in tone.
“I understand. Water Luriana has a gentle temperament and loves peace, but since it evolves through emotional energy, its temperament tends to shift with each stage.”
Qiao Sang was surprised.
“You know a lot about the Water Luriana species?”
Dosharila smiled.
“Not extensively, since it's a pet from Blue Star. But I specialize in emotional energy in pet beasts, so I’ve read quite a bit about those that rely heavily on or evolve through emotional energy.”
So that’s it… Qiao Sang understood.
Before coming, she’d looked up information on Dr. Dosharila and knew all her long-term projects were related to pet beast emotional energy.
No wonder she knew Lubao and was interested in her...
Then Dosharila looked at Qiao Sang seriously and asked: “Would you be interested in becoming my student?”

Qiao Sang was taken aback.
At the university level, students could choose courses and instructors based on their interests and academic needs.
But it was a mutual selection process.
Students could apply, and teachers could refuse.
Each professor had a limited number of slots per year, especially in top institutions like Yulianton University. Professors didn’t hand out spots lightly.
She hadn’t expected her first invitation to come from someone not in the battle department.
But she understood why Dr. Dosharila brought it up.
She wasn’t interested in her but in Lubao.
Qiao Sang paused and said, “I’m an exchange student. I’ll be leaving next semester.”
“Exchange student?” Dosharila responded quickly: “That’s not a problem. You can submit a transfer request, and I’ll handle the rest.”
Qiao Sang looked silently at Dr. Dosharila.
“Don’t you want to transfer to our school?” Dosharila asked hesitantly.
Qiao Sang paused for two seconds.
“I’m currently enrolled in the Imperial Beast University.”
Dosharila fell silent.
After a moment, she composed herself and returned to a calm tone: “Even if it’s just one semester, that’s fine. I can mentor you during this half-year.”
She paused, then added, “From the kind of questions you asked in class, I assume you’re preparing for Ice Xilu’s next stage of evolution. I can’t speak for other fields, but I’ve done in-depth research on emotional energy in pet beasts and have received many honors. I can definitely help you.”
“Lu-”
Lubao’s tail instantly stiffened.
Evolution?
They were talking about her?
Lubao glanced instinctively at her beast master.
Though Lubao could evolve simply by using stat points, if she could evolve like other Ice Xilu… Qiao Sang thought, then made up her mind and nodded: “I’m willing.”
“Lu...”
Lubao’s tail flicked, and her eyes revealed a rare glimmer of excitement.
Dosharila smiled.
“Let’s exchange contact information. You can ask me anything. As for making me your mentor, there’s no need to apply. I’ll register you myself.”
“Alright.” Qiao Sang nodded.

After leaving the main academic building, Qiao Sang checked the time and found that her original class was still ongoing, so she headed to Beast master Class One.
It was break time, so she wasn’t worried and walked in carrying Yabao.
As soon as she entered, she noticed everyone was staring at her. Some were even covering their mouths and snickering, quite a change from before when no one dared meet her eyes.
“Did something happen?” Qiao Sang sensed something was off and sat down beside the red-haired girl who had previously spoken to her.
The girl turned to her with a deeply complicated expression.
Seeing this, Qiao Sang’s heart skipped a beat.
Why did her eyes seem filled with pity?
Are you… pitying me? A sense of foreboding crept into Qiao Sang’s mind. She asked again: “What exactly happened?”
“You’ll see.” The red-haired girl handed over her phone.
Qiao Sang took it, half-curious, half-confused. On the screen was a paused video.
The figure and outfit of the person in the video looked very familiar.
She hit play.
“Present!”
The voice was also very familiar.
The next second, Qiao Sang realized, it was her.
More accurately, it was her mimic doll.
What’s so interesting about this? Qiao Sang was about to question it.
Then the video played another loud “Present!”
This was… Qiao Sang stared at the screen and realized, ten seconds later, she shouted “Present!” again.
Qiao Sang returned the phone and asked, “Why are you showing me this on a loop?”
The red-haired girl gave her a sympathetic look.
“This isn’t a loop.”
Qiao Sang: ???
Just then, another sympathetic voice called out nearby,
“Qiao Sang, the homeroom teacher wants to see you.”
Qiao Sang: ……
