Chapter 447: Extra: Chasing the Evil God’s Wife 12_1

Wu Xie waved her hand and shouted, "Uncle Tai Seng!"

The child’s voice was clear and bright, noticeably different from two years prior.

The silver wolf Beastman froze for a moment upon hearing the voice. A moment later, he whipped his head around in surprise. His gaze fell upon Si Yan, Wu Xie, and Wu Yang.

However, this normally cool and handsome male Beastman found himself stunned once more.

Wu Xie scrambled up, her chubby little feet landing on Tai Seng as her small, tender arms wrapped around his neck. She giggled, "Uncle Tai Seng, Wu Xie missed you so much!"

Tai Seng slowly regained his composure, his strong arms bending to let Wu Xie sit comfortably on his forearm.

"Wu Xie, Wu Yang..."

He murmured their names, his mind still reeling slightly, before lifting his gaze to Si Yan once more. He suddenly found himself at a loss as to how to face Si Yan.

He stammered, "Si... Si Yan..."

His voice is so soft, she probably didn’t hear me.

Wu Xie tugged at Tai Seng’s large ear. The playful pull tickled, and he indulgently tilted his head.

Wu Xie whispered into Tai Seng’s ear, "Uncle Tai Seng, Mother has lost her memory."

Tai Seng froze, his expression instantly darkening. "How could Si Yan lose her memory? What happened?"

As Tai Seng’s killing intent abruptly flared, the terrifying pressure seemed to make the desert air grow cold.

Wu Xie quickly said, "Uncle Tai Seng, don’t worry. Father Beast has examined her. Mother has lost some memories, but there are no other issues. Mother has amnesia now, so it’s best not to agitate her. We plan to let her memories return naturally. Uncle Tai Seng, please play along with us, alright?"

Tai Seng then composed himself, nodding. His gaze became much more complicated as he looked at Si Yan.

Two years. They’d been apart for two years, and now that they finally met, she didn’t even remember him.

"Teacher Tai Seng," Little Wolf called out.

Tai Seng then introduced him, "Wu Xie, Wu Yang. This is Little Wolf."

Wu Xie and Wu Yang exchanged greetings with Little Wolf.

Tai Seng’s attention was drawn back to Si Yan, his eyes stealing glances at her, filled with a tumult of emotions.

A year after the Outland War concluded, he knew Si Yan no longer needed him. So, under the cover of night, he had quietly left his home alone.

In this vast Beast World, he began his wandering journey in search of himself.

The harsh days were bearable, but the nights were difficult to endure. He often found himself homesick, yearning for Si Yan and the cubs.

He had once thought this yearning was the most painful thing to endure. That was until a few days ago, when he discovered his guardian totem had suddenly vanished.

Its disappearance was painless. Yet, it plunged Tai Seng into heart-wrenching agony.

Had his Mistress abandoned him?

Was it because he’d left without a word? Had Si Yan erased his guardian mark because of that?

Tai Seng lowered his gaze, his heart a maelstrom of complex emotions and apprehension. A strange sense of relief washed over him that Si Yan had amnesia; it spared him some of the awkwardness.

Si Yan was also sizing him up.

The way he looks at me is so complicated, Si Yan observed. It’s as if he knows me.

The sand creatures in the desert suddenly erupted with killing intent, a deluge of sand surging towards the group.

Qiu Mei and Cat You cried out in horror, "Si Yan!" "Little Wolf!!"

The beastfolk were terrified, but they were too late to rescue Si Yan and her companions, who were about to be engulfed by the sandstorm.

Qiu Mei clapped a hand over her mouth, her eyes wide with terror. It’s over. We’re done for. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

When the sandstorm receded, a massive hemisphere of ice stood in its place.

All the beastfolk stared at the ice dome, not daring to avert their eyes. A solid wall of ice had formed a dome, shielding everyone within.

The ice wall shattered, and the swirling sands settled.

The beastfolk inside were completely unscathed.

Tai Seng abruptly lifted his cold eyes, glaring fiercely at the sand creature as he bit out a single word, "Scram."

The overwhelming killing intent was almost palpable. The sand creature, terrified, leaped up and scrambled away in a panic.

"..." The beastfolk were speechless.

The creature that a whole group of us couldn’t defeat was scared off by a single glare from this male? they wondered in disbelief. Just how strong is this silver wolf Beastman?

"You are so strong," Si Yan spoke up.

Tai Seng snapped back to reality and looked at Si Yan.

Si Yan smiled at him very politely. "Are you the strongest warrior of your tribe?"

Tai Seng quickly shook his head. "I am not."

Wang Dao is the strongest warrior, Tai Seng thought.

Perhaps sensing Tai Seng’s awkwardness, Si Yan shifted her gaze to the young boy. "Are you Little Wolf?"

Little Wolf, sensing the unusual dynamic between his teacher and the female before him, replied politely, "I am."

Si Yan asked with curiosity, "Why are you unwilling to mate with Cat You?"

The question immediately made Cat You bristle. She practically leaped to her feet. "What’s it to you? Stop meddling!"

Little Wolf frowned. He glanced at Cat You, then back at Si Yan. "You know about me and Cat You?"

Si Yan nodded and said with a smile, "If my question is impolite, you don’t have to answer."

Little Wolf said, "You’re very kind."

Then, Little Wolf looked at Cat You. "You’re always so agitated. Is one question from her enough to make you react like this?"

Cat You glared at him fiercely.

Little Wolf said to Si Yan, "It’s true that Cat You saved my life. I acknowledge that debt of gratitude and will repay it one day. But that doesn’t mean I have to mate with her just because she saved me, right?"

Little Wolf’s answer surprised Si Yan. After a moment of thought, she nodded.

Little Wolf continued, "I’ve just found my path in life. Cultivation brings me joy, and I want to focus on it. I want to be like Teacher Tai Seng, with a backpack, roaming the Beast World. I don’t want to be tied down by a female. A life debt shouldn’t become a restraint. Can you understand?"

Si Yan continued to nod thoughtfully.

Cat You and Little Wolf both have such strong personalities, Si Yan mused. It really does seem difficult for two people like that to be together.

Cat You scoffed.

Tai Seng frowned. "Little Wolf, be more polite."

Little Wolf then reined in his attitude slightly, dutifully retreating behind Tai Seng.

Tai Seng had traveled through the Beast World and, in the wasteland, encountered Little Wolf, a very talented Wild Wolf Beastman. The sight of the young Wild Wolf—leg crippled yet stubborn and resilient—reminded Tai Seng of his own childhood. His father had been disabled, their family expelled from the tribe. His brothers and father-beast had all perished in various accidents.

If only someone had helped them back then, he thought, perhaps they all could have survived.

So Tai Seng adopted Little Wolf and became his mentor. He did it not just for Little Wolf, but for the helpless child he himself once was.

However, because Cat You was always around whenever Little Wolf fought the sand creatures recently, Tai Seng had also learned about the situation between them.

So, just because one person has feelings, the other isn’t obligated to reciprocate, right? Tai Seng had mused at the time.

Tai Seng found it easy to relate the experiences of others to his own. Little Wolf hadn’t reciprocated Cat You’s one-sided affection, just as Si Yan hadn’t reciprocated his.

That year, Si Yan hadn’t responded to his feelings. Selfishly, he had unilaterally established a guardian contract to protect her.

Ultimately, it had been his mistake from the start. But he didn’t regret it.

However selfish it was, the time he’d spent with Si Yan and her family had been truly happy.

He had genuinely considered that place his home, and Si Yan, Wang Dao, and the six little ones his family.

Si Yan didn’t remember him. She treated him like a stranger, exchanging only a few words before leaving with her cubs.

As Si Yan, who clearly didn’t recognize him, turned and left with the children, the silver wolf Beastman’s ears and tail finally popped out in the vast desert.

It was too difficult.

Just seeing Si Yan stirred his emotions so much that his ears and tail fought to reveal themselves.

Controlling his emotions in front of Si Yan was, after all, too difficult.

"Tai Seng."

Tai Seng turned, unsurprised to see the purple-haired snake Beastman who had always silently guarded Si Yan. "Wang Dao."

Over the years, his relationship with Wang Dao had settled into something akin to brotherhood. There was no animosity between them as rivals in love.

"Let’s talk," Wang Dao said.
