Beastmen Love-Chapter 166: Field Assessment
Chapter 166: Field Assessment
Everyone went to have dinner, and after that, everyone heard Astri singing to her cubs to sleep inside the big tent; it was magical to everyone.
Even the guards that weren’t going to work and would rest enjoyed getting sleepy with her voice.
After giving all of the little ones good night kisses, she goes out of the tent and sits with some of her spouses to drink her tea.
Claud asks his guards the dinosaurs and Skalven to sit closer, and the guards call them.
"At Daern’s Tribe, who’s the Elder and the leader?" Claud asks them.
"The leader is a tyrannosaur called Bono. He’s very strong. He has 18 marks. The Elder is a mad male, he talks about magic and taking care of Nature so we don’t feel its wrath. No one cares about what he says. I don’t remember his name." The triceratops answers.
"I think his name is Otto." Troy says.
"I see.. So the Elder doesn’t have any influence in the tribe?" Lee asks.
"Very little. He’s the leader’s father, so he is knowledgeable, but people just think he grew crazy after surviving the backlash and don’t hear him."
Everyone didn’t have an entire idea of how things would be, but now they can see that it will be hard after hearing that the only one who believes in Nature is called crazy.
"And doctors? How many do they have?" Claud asks.
"One, I believe. You and the weird black eye male are the doctors for going inside the litter?" Troy says.
"We have three doctors. I am one. Kangki is not a doctor." Claud says superficially.
"You don’t protect all of your doctors? Why does he go inside then?" Roy asks.
"Because I’m the strongest to protect our female and cubs." Kangki answers, his eyes darkening with their disrespect.
"How many marks do you have?"
"It doesn’t concern you, cub."
The air started to get denser again, and then Astri cleared her throat, calling everyone’s attention.
"If you wake up the children, I’ll cut your balls off." Astri kindly said, killing the dense air instantaneously.
Even though her spouses help with taking care of the cubs, children will always love the mother the most and want her attention. Even more so in a situation where they’re traveling and will be doing only boring things. Astri spends a lot of time trying to keep them occupied, so now it’s her time to really quiet down.
"You can talk, just don’t fight. Is that hard to do?" Astri asks.
"Of course, not." Claud answers, then looks at Kangki as a warning to have more patience too.
Kangki looks away, crossing his arms and sighing, annoyed. In his perspective, they don’t need those disrespectful beastmen to help them. However, Astri and Claud believe they need to be known in a natural way, so walking with dinosaurs will look more natural.
Skalven senses something. His webs moved and vibrated, so he looked in the direction of the tent. He sees the boys eavesdropping through the gap of the tent.
He looks at Astri, worried she will get angry, but he actually notices she is already looking at him. She smiles and blinks an eye, waving her hand for him to not worry and let them be. He smiles and nods.
Kangki notices their exchange. Before he gets jealous, Skalven looks at the tent from the corner of his eyes, and Kangki looks at it too.
Hopin, Elias, and Kai jumped from the gap automatically after being caught by Kangki. Kangki smiles, understanding everything now. Kangki is impressed by the spider’s ability. He noticed the movement of the boys before anyone and understood even more why Astri wanted someone like him to guard the children.
After Astri goes to sleep, Kangki talks to the other spouses about Skalven and they’re also impressed by his ability. None of them noticed the boys awake listening to the conversation.
The boys are growing, getting more curious, and feeling responsible for protecting their brother and sister. It’s not something uncommon, and that’s why Astri doesn’t stop them when they’re curious like that; at least they’re not doing something irresponsible.
On the next day, the boys travel walking outside the carriage next to their fathers. Beau goes inside the carriage, and Kangki goes outside because Kangki wants to fly around. He might not be a Monster anymore, but he still can sense evil energy.
He spots Lee and Cyprian flying behind him, so he slows down and waits for them to explain themselves.
"Don’t glare at us like that. Astri asked us to be with you." Lee says.
"She said we can learn to sense things better watching you." Cyprian speaks.
"Hum.. I’m not a good teacher like her and Claud. And I’m enough to do it." Kangki says, feeling annoyed.
"We know, but Astri.." Lee tries to say.
"I know. It’s good for you to learn. For Cyprian, it is easier. Being older and knowing more about energies is easier for him. But for you, bird, it won’t be easy. And as I said, I’m not a good teacher. Good luck."
Lee smirks, then snorts.
"Astri didn’t choose me for being the most handsome between all of us. She knows that I’m the smartest." Lee proudly says.
"You’re just stupid when you’re jealous. You could be smart on that side as well." Cyprian snorts.
"All of us make mistakes when angry." Lee says looking away, hiding that his jealousy is his weak side.
"That is true. If Astri hadn’t stopped me more than once, those dinosaurs would be ten feet under the ground already." Kangki says.
"See? All of us have our weak sides."
"I understand, but I’m tired of repeating that it is not our choice. It is hers." Cyprian rolls his eyes.
"Yeah. You always say that. Aren’t we here for learning with Kangki?" Lee brushes the subject aside.
Kangki is looking around, sensing things. Lee tries to take something from Kangki and tries to have a direction of what to do.
"You can sense when someone is threatening or angry. Simply try to feel what is the direction you feel is denser or not." Kangki explains.
Lee sighs, but tries to sense things the way Kangki said. As they’re flying, they feel that the direction they’re going is indeed less dense than going to the city where the King lives. Lee can’t feel as clearly as Cyprian and Kankgi but now he knows how to train his senses for this.
Astri wants her spouses to work better together and learn from each other so in the future, they live more harmoniously, and eventually, trivial fights will be rarer.
Skalven is walking on the side of the carriage, then he sees the children practicing their reading with Claud and Astri. Skalven is shocked to see that all of them read. Moment after moment, he can see that he has very important people to protect.
During the afternoon, Astri sings, teaches new things, and gives them toys to play with, and when they’re more focused on other things, she goes back to her project of writing storybooks. She has already made a few stories with images and text for the children, but now, she’s focused on making longer stories.
At night, she’s relaxing again near the fire while Wayde and Dieg take the lead in making the children sleep.
"Lady Astri?.." Skalven brings up the courage to call her.
"Hum?"
"Can I... talk to you in private? Or to someone who can answer me some questions?" He asks, looking down, afraid of making her angry.
"Of course." She answers, and he looks up to her again, relieved. "Stop thinking I’ll be mad all the time. I’m not like other females." She chuckles and stands up.
"Can we talk to you too?" Pete asks.
She sits down again, sighing.
"Then why don’t you ask me your questions here? I’m sure all of my spouses and guards know the answers of them too." She says, taking a fruit and starting to peel it.
"Even the dinosaurs? They will be with us for a short period of time." Beau asks in their own language.
"They won’t. Claud visited their minds and we believe that they will be good additions for the Leader of the Daern’s Tribe. Bono will need people to trust, and these tree might be brutes but they’re loyal to who ever they believe is correct." Astri answers.
Beau hates them because they’re too rude. Atlantis might be beasts, but they always respect others, even if they’re not people they like. However, he knows is not good to feed hatred towards them, he won’t help anything with that.
"So, what are your questions?" Astri asks in Skalven and the dinosaurs’ language.
"You know how to read and write?" Skalven asks Astri.
"Yes. I do."
"Zin told me you made the washing thing that smells good."
"The soap? Yes, I did."
"You have more knowledge than males." He softly says, impressed.
"I do. Claud has more knowledge in medicine, though."
"Are you saying you are the doctor too?" Pete asks.
"Yes. Claud, Zin and I are doctors. Claud is the most experienced between us." Astri answers.
"You’re too valuable for going to Daern’s Tribe then! It would be better for you to be in the King’s castle. I know he’s not a good beastman, but he’s the only one who has a safe place for someone like you to stay." Pete says.
"I’m not going to stay near that King. Even if it means living in a safe castle."
