Beastmen Love-Chapter 197: Weird Alert
Chapter 197: Weird Alert
Skalven was getting ready to sleep when he felt weird vibrations on his webs. He stood up and started to go outside.
"Where are you going? You just said good night." Galion asks.
"I felt something on my webs. It’s not something I usually feel at this time of the night." Skalven answers.
"Hum.. Let me go with you. We have patrols on every wall, but if you’re feeling something, then we should check." Galion stands up, too, and they walk outside.
When they’re walking in the direction Skalven felt the strange alert, they see Gilliard and Drack coming their way from the back of the castle.
"Were you walking around?" Galion asks them.
"Yes. We were walking around, and then we stopped to talk to Lady Astri." Drack answers.
"Oh.. Then it was probably them that you’ve sensed on your webs, Skalven." Galion says.
"Webs?" Gilliard asks, with a confused face just like Drack has.
"Skalven is a spider, and he had spread his webs everywhere to sense if anything appears unnoticed, or if someone passes the patrols somehow. It was my mistake. Forgot to tell you to be careful with where you walk around." Galion explains.
"Oh.."
Skalven is still sensing something weird, and there is a feeling that is giving him bad chills.
"I don’t think it was them.. I’m still sensing something." Skalven says, still looking in the direction he’s being alerted.
"What are you guys doing here?" Dante asks, coming from behind them.
Skalven feels that his invisible master web was broken when Dante walked to them, because he accidentally crossed it. Galion explains what they’re doing to Dante as well.
"Are you still sensing?" Dante asks Skalven.
"No, because you just broke my web. I need to fix it now." Skalven says, then walks away to find a part of the master web again.
"Sorry."
"Avoid walking behind him. It’s where he keeps the webs, on his back." Galion says, and the others nod.
"Should we go back and check Lady Astri then? Leader Xzan asked to talk to her alone. That’s why we left her there." Gilliard asks, worried.
"Alone with Xzan?! Oh, I won’t let him get her first!" Dante says and runs away.
Skalven reconnects to his webs, and he’s still sensing this chilling vibration. It feels so bad that it is worrying Skalven. So he walks fast to the direction he’s feeling that, and Galion, Gilliard, and Drack follow him. Dante first listens to what Astri and Xzan are talking about, then, when he hears Xzan asking to become her spouse, Dante, and Skalven also, focused on that question above everything for a moment.
Dante runs to Astri and Xzan.
"Me too.. I want to protect your heart, too." Dante kneels in front of her, taking one of her hands.
Xzan clicks his tongue, angry.
"Can’t we have some privacy?! I was talking to her first. You messed up the moment!" Xzan says, annoyed.
"Calm down, you two. Let’s not fight." Astri says.
"I’m sorry! I know you invited me to be the guardian of your children, but I also fell in love with you." Skalven kneels near her, too, taking everyone by surprise.
"Skalven.."
"Hey! It was my moment! Why are you two kneeling here? You need to respect others’ space!" Xzan says, pushing the others away.
"I accept you." She says, silencing everyone, and they stare at her in confusion, not knowing who she was talking to. "All of you." She shyly says.
She looks down, blushing and questioning herself. She just accepted three males at once! Her mind is exploding, but she can’t deny she has more than a thing for the three of them.
They beam huge smiles, but before they cheer happily, they hear a deep and dark voice behind them:
"So much romance... This irks me."
That’s when Skalven remembered the weird feeling from before. Dante, Skalven, and Xzan position themselves in front of Astri, and then Galion, Gilliard, and Drack run to stand behind her.
"GUARDS! SOMEONE CAME INSIDE!" Galion roars, warning everyone.
But then he’s held in the air and thrown away, being hit on the wall of the castle.
"Shut up, little dragon. I like silence."
Astri stands up and looks at the direction Nature is showing where her enemy is, after checking if Galion is all right. A male with very light brown skin, wearing a ripped black shirt, started to appear from the shadows. Showing a lean and tall body, and slowly appearing in the moonlight. His hair is black and very long, and it moves on its own slowly. His eyes are completely black, and the corners of his lips are also black.
Even not being Astri, anyone can sense pure evil from that male. Astri is impressed to see him there.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?" Dante asks.
Dante feels his body feel a strong electric shock, and his body is buzzing. He feels that something is being ripped away from him.
"I said.. I like silence, kitten."
His voice was so deep that it vibrated inside their minds.
Astri makes an energy shield in front of Dante and pushes it against that evil creature that was sucking Dante’s soul. He jumps back, deflecting Astri’s power, and Astri runs to hold Dante, who has fallen on the ground almost unconscious.
She holds Dante’s face and looks at his eyes.
"Look at me.. Please, look at me." Astri says to Dante.
He blinks slowly and then shakes his head. He blinks again and looks at her. She could see that his soul was almost taken, but it’s back now, making her sigh in relief.
That’s when Astri’s spouses and other guards arrived. Kangki’s eyes widened in surprise after seeing who the enemy was. He didn’t have time to check who was with his mind; he simply ran outside after hearing Galion and knowing Astri was still outside, and also feeling the most horrible pain on his spousal mark.
"Don’t look at his mind, Claud. He will lock you in, and you will end up losing your soul." Kangki warns Claud.
Claud was about to check his mind indeed, but he stopped quickly when Kangki said that, and because he was seeing only a deep, dark abyss.
"Well, well, well.. Look who is here. One of the strongest Monster Kings I knew of. How can you be so ungrateful to the one who gave you the ability to live forever? And who welcomed you when no one else wanted to?" The male smiles, showing long fangs and a black tongue.
"I’m not a Monster anymore, Emperor." Kangki says.
The others are in shock after hearing Kangki calling that male Emperor. That means he’s just the strongest Monster that could exist in that world.
"I can see. Interesting. Why don’t you try to change me, too, Daughter of Nature?" He asks, opening his arms like showing himself to Astri check out.
"I can’t change who doesn’t want to change..Baal." Astri says.
"Oh.. Nature has already opened its mouth to tell you who I am. Few know my name."
"My children, Skalven. Please." Astri says to Skalven.
"Don’t worry. I don’t want your children. They’re not good enough yet." Baal snorts.
"And what do you want? You’re invading Nature’s territory." Kangki asks.
"I lost too many Monster Kings and Princes. I just want to make things even."
"I didn’t cross any line, and you know that. If you don’t want to lose any more of them, tell them not to cross the line. It’s simple." Astri says.
Dante doesn’t have the strength to stand up. Astri makes him float to stay behind the others.
"You just can’t handle the truth. For several years, they had the freedom to do whatever they wanted, and now that I’m here, they didn’t want to stay on their side of the line, and you want to be angry with me defending my side? How can you be the same age as this world and still be this childish?" Astri seriously says.
He glares at her with those scary eyes. Some guards even tremble with so much evil energy they’re feeling coming from Baal.
"In the Dinosaur Kingdom, the Monster King didn’t join the fight with the dinosaurs." Baal says.
"But he was slaving and killing species of dinosaurs that would be extinct, and even you wouldn’t have any more Monsters. He didn’t cross the line when he saw me, but he was crossing the line constantly away from me." Astri answers.
Astri is the only one who doesn’t look shaken by his presence.
"Skalven, please go protect my children. Bring a party with you and make sure to keep an eye out for any movement." Astri says in Skalven’s mind.
Skalven looks at her. His heart hurts for letting her there, but he also knows that her children are the easiest way to harm her, so he does what she asked and brings a party with him. He will have to trust the others to keep her safe.
"Do you think this little army can stop me from doing what I came to do?" Baal asks Astri.
Anyone can sense that his aura is affronting, but Astri’s not affected, and that hits Baal where his ego reigns.
"And do you think that you can do anything against me?" Astri asks back.
He chuckles.
"I’m not here to do anything against you, Daughter of Nature. I want my Monster King back."
