Becoming Secret Nanny for Possessive CEO-Chapter 150: Chased Again
Luckily, Edith was a strong woman. She immediately bit the mysterious person’s hand and then ran away from him. She had actually suspected Callum wouldn’t contact her using someone else’s phone because he always carried a power bank with him. He even made time to talk to her while he was busy using his phone. Therefore, it was impossible for Callum to act out of the ordinary.
She ran far enough that she was out of breath. She hid for a moment in a minimarket to call Renata. Taking a deep breath, she exhaled slowly, shaking out her dress.
"Renata, I need your help now."
"What happened? Aren’t you buying ice cream right now?"
"Someone was chasing me all of a sudden."
"What?!"
"Sorry, I wish I had asked you to accompany me earlier."
"No need to apologize. What matters most is where you are now."
"I’m at the convenience store. I’ll text you the location later."
"Okay, I’ll go there right away and call Patrick to take care of the kids."
Edith immediately ended the conversation. She walked around the convenience store, grabbing some supplies to defend herself in case she was attacked again. Being chased by someone had made it increasingly difficult for her to venture out unaccompanied. She didn’t even want to sit on a window seat, worried that someone would easily find her. So, she sought a secluded spot in the convenience store while waiting for Renata to rescue her.
Several minutes passed, and Edith grew increasingly frightened, worried that the man would attack her again. She continued to bite her lip and stomped her feet repeatedly. Tears continued to flow freely down her cheeks, her right hand clenched tightly as she clutched her tight chest. Because her past wounds hadn’t fully healed, the trauma returned to haunt her.
"Edith!"
Hearing that familiar, loud voice made her turn her head immediately. Her beloved fiancé ran to her and hugged her tightly. Initially experiencing anxiety, she began to calm down thanks to the warmth of her beloved fiancé.
"Callum, I’m scared."
"Now you don’t have to be afraid anymore. I’m here to accompany you." Callum rhythmically patted his fiancée’s supple back.
Edith wrapped her trembling arms around his broad back. She was genuinely curious about how Callum had found her so quickly. Was Renata the one who had contacted him? Most importantly, she wanted to get her mental state back under control.
"You should calm down first. We’ll leave here once you’ve calmed down."
Her head nodded.
It didn’t take long for Edith’s mental state to stabilize. Callum bought cookies from the convenience store to help her calm down from the sweet treats. Edith nibbled on the cookies slowly while gazing at her fiancé, who had become even more captivating in her eyes after saving her from danger.
"Thank you for saving me, Callum." Her head hung low in shame. "How did you find me? I didn’t even contact you."
Callum pursed his lips, folding his arms. "Now I want to ask you a question. Why did you have to contact Renata when she’s not your future husband?"
"Because I didn’t want to bother you. Especially since you were attending an important meeting earlier."
"Whether it’s an important meeting or not, I want you to bother me if you’re in danger!"
"Callum..."
"I ended the meeting early because I was really fed up. I wanted to spend my free time with you, and our twins couldn’t. So, I don’t want to be selfish anymore because of work. I prioritize you!"
"But, if you were still playing golf with VIP clients, would you still save me?"
"Of course, because your life is more important than work."
Her heart pounded at Callum’s sweet, simple words in such a critical situation. Only Callum could calm her down.
"Your cheeks are red." Callum laughed as he gently pinched his fiancée’s cheeks.
"I’m at peace now thanks to you saving me in time. If you hadn’t saved me, I would have been in even greater trouble."
"If you’ve calmed down, can I scold you now?"
Edith swallowed nervously. She guessed Callum wanted to scold her for doing this stupid thing.
"I am ready to accept your scolding."
"Why did you believe that one message so easily?"
"At first, I suspected you weren’t the one who sent the message. But, on the other hand, I also had doubts because maybe you were the one who sent the message to me using someone else’s phone."
Callum furrowed his brows and put his hands on his hips. "I’ve already shown off the power bank I bought so I could call you, even though my battery phone was low. I’ve never used someone else’s phone to call you." A heavy breath escaped from the mouth. "Besides, I told you before. Don’t leave the hotel."
"I’m sorry." Edith lowered her head while staring at her fingernails.
"It’s okay. What’s important now is that I will be your bodyguard. I won’t go anywhere again even if I’m contacted by someone important today."
"You didn’t have to go this far. I admit that I was wrong today because I was stupid and didn’t think things through."
Callum smiled sweetly, gripping his fiancée’s hand tightly. "Since your mental state is stable, we should get out of here. I want to continue our date at the hotel."
"At a time like this, you’re still thinking about a date. So, what about the person who chased me earlier?"
"I’ll ask James for help. He’s the expert on this." Callum kissed his fiancée’s hand for a few seconds. "When we get to the hotel, I want you to forget about this strange incident rather than further traumatizing yourself."
In an instant, a sweet smile spread across her tiny face. She got up from her chair with Callum and walked out of the minimarket.
After only a few steps, Edith sensed someone watching her from the rooftop. As she looked up, a pot suddenly fell from the roof. She tried to dodge, but the pot landed on Callum’s head because Callum hugged her quickly.
