Becoming The Strongest Using My Would-You-Rather System!-Chapter 25 - Picking Up New Weapon
Theo had already turned around and started walking toward the car with his mother, talking about everything that had happened at the beach.
"Congratulations, Robert," Daniel, Owen’s father, said as he walked up behind him. "You’ve got a fine kid."
"Thank you," Robert replied absentmindedly.
Daniel also turned to look at Theo, remaining silent for a moment with a small smile on his face.
"Almost feels like we’re being left behind," he chuckled.
Robert snapped out of his daze and turned to Daniel with a soft smile.
"It really does," he said.
Seeing Robert slowly recover, Daniel patted him on the back.
"Just enjoy it from now on," he said. "These kids are going to do great things someday."
Robert nodded once, letting out a soft chuckle.
"I’ll go join them now," he said. "Make sure you’ve got a beer for me when I’m back."
"Sure thing."
With that, Robert followed after his son and wife.
A couple of hours flew by as they visited several low-priced apartments in the area and inspected them for a few basic requirements.
Some had peeling walls, were filled with mold, or had other strange smells lingering in the rooms.
Finally, after visiting nearly six apartments, something decent popped up.
As Theo stood in the doorway leading inside, he glanced at his parents.
"What do you think?" he asked, tilting his head slightly.
His mother ran her hand over the wall, observing it slowly.
"It’s by far the best one," she said, her voice low.
His father nodded firmly, glancing at the tiny living room.
"Agreed."
Theo smiled and clapped his hands together.
"Well then," he said. "I’ll rent it."
His parents turned to him, staring at him with a hint of hesitation in their eyes.
"Let’s go back," Theo continued, pushing himself off the doorway post. "That way I can get started on the paperwork."
This time, his father shook his head lightly.
"We’ll handle that," Robert said.
Theo raised his eyebrows in surprise.
"You’ve already done more than enough," his mother added with a small smile. "Just go do whatever you were planning to do."
Theo glanced between them for a moment before letting out a quiet sigh.
"...Alright," he finally said.
Just then, the phone in his pocket started vibrating.
Theo pulled it out and glanced at the screen.
’Iris?’ he thought, raising an eyebrow. ’What’s she calling for?’
He glanced up at his parents, finding them smiling.
"Go ahead," his father said, patting him on the back. "We’ll call you once everything is sorted out."
Theo nodded, already walking out the door as he picked up the phone.
"Hey," he said, bringing the phone to his ear.
"You finally picked up," Iris’s voice came through.
Theo raised an eyebrow.
"Was that urgent?"
"Not really," she replied casually. "I just thought you’d want to know."
"Know what?"
There was a brief pause on the other end.
"Your spear is ready."
Theo’s eyes widened as he suddenly remembered the spear.
"...Already?" he asked.
"Yeah," Iris replied, a hint of excitement in her voice. "It turned out really good... but it’s better if you just see it for yourself."
Theo’s eyes lit up immediately.
"Where do you want me to come pick it up?" he asked.
Iris chuckled softly on the other end of the call.
"I’ll send you the location now," she replied.
A second later, his phone buzzed.
"Got it," Theo said, nodding to himself. "I’ll come over right away."
"That’s good," Iris replied, her voice soft. "See you soon."
With that, the call ended.
Theo lowered the phone from his ear and looked at the location again.
’Seems like I need to go to the military camp,’ he thought. ’Well, time to take another bus then.’
A small grin grew on his face just thinking about the weapon.
Theo slipped his phone back into his pocket and headed toward the nearest bus stop.
A few minutes later, he boarded a bus heading toward the ocean, taking a seat near the window as the city slowly rolled past.
Before long, familiar fortified military tents entered his vision, lined up neatly behind tall metal fences and guarded checkpoints.
Slowly, the bus came to a stop near an outer checkpoint, its doors sliding open with a soft hiss.
Theo stepped down onto the pavement and glanced around, the familiar salty scent of the nearby ocean drifting faintly through the air.
’Time to send her a message,’ he thought, glancing at the guards.
Iris replied quickly, telling him not to move until she got there.
It didn’t take long before a dark military jeep rolled through the gate and came to a halt right in front of him.
One of the doors swung open, followed by Iris poking her head out.
"What are you waiting for?" she asked, tilting her head. "Get in."
Theo raised an eyebrow before letting out a quiet chuckle.
"Alright, alright," he said, walking over.
He grabbed the handle and climbed into the backseat beside Iris, pulling the door shut behind him.
The engine immediately roared to life as the vehicle turned around and went deeper into the military camp.
As Theo glanced at Iris, he froze for a moment.
Her usual military uniform was gone, replaced by a simple dress that revealed her slender waist and long legs far more clearly.
’Woah,’ he thought.
For a brief second, their eyes met.
Iris seemed to realize he had noticed as well, because she quickly turned her head toward the window as a faint redness spread across her cheeks.
Neither of them spoke as the jeep continued deeper into the camp.
The soldier driving glanced at them through the rearview mirror, his expression slowly turning into one of mild suffering.
After a short drive, the vehicle finally came to a stop in front of a metal hangar.
Iris pushed her door open first, quickly recomposing herself as she gestured for Theo to follow her.
"Your weapon is in here," she said, her voice low.
Theo nodded once, pushing his teenage thoughts away as he followed after her.
’A weapon easily worth two hundred thousand,’ he thought, clenching his fist. ’I really wonder what it looks like.’
