Chapter 79: Chapter 78

"No...No, that’s not it.” He stuttered. “Raiden doesn’t like me like that anymore. He told me so himself.”

Sora let out a disbelieving snot. “And you believe him?”

“Yes!” Hiro exclaimed. “Yes I do.”

He didn’t know why but he didn’t like the way Sora kept doubting Raiden. Sure he was going to be with Raiden for a year but it was different from what Sora was thinking. He was the one who needed Raiden not the other way around. Raiden could decide to throw him back on the streets at any time.

“You have no idea what I went through to get him to help. If he truly wants me and would do anything for me, he wouldn’t have made me beg and cry. He would not have humiliated me the way he did. I admit he did all those things in the past and he was quite scary but people change. Raiden has changed, Brother. He’s not the stalker he used to be.”

“God you’re so fucking clueless.” Sora groaned, running his fingers through his dark locks in frustration. His fingers then paused as Hiro’s words sank in. His eyes snapped back to attention, his tone sharp with concern. “What did you just say now? What do you mean by he made you beg and cry? How did he humiliate you? Did he hurt you?”

Hiro pursed his lips as he thought back to the day he went to ask Raiden for help in his office. The way he gave himself to Raiden and Raiden threw his shirt back at him, rejecting him harshly.

Sora noticed that Hiro didn’t want to talk about it so he sighed. “You know what? Let’s talk about this in person. Saika has woken up and I do not want her hearing this conversation.”

“No.” Hiro said, shaking his head. “I don’t want to talk about this anymore.” He didn’t want to tell his Brother what had happened because he’d have to tell him about the agreement with Raiden.

“Hiro-”

Just as the atmosphere was becoming strained, a knock echoed through the room, followed by the creak of the door as it swung open. The housekeeper, a middle-aged woman with a kind face and warm smile, stepped into the room.

Hiro’s eyes lit up with relief as he took in her familiar face, his tense shoulders relaxing as he breathed a silent sigh of gratitude. Phew. What good timing.

“Good morning, Mr Watanabe.” The housekeeper said, bowing respectfully. “Mr Yamato said to inform you that breakfast is ready and he’s waiting for you downstairs.”

Hiro’s eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled, but it was clear he was eager to escape the conversation. "I’ll talk to you later, Brother. Tell sister I said hi and that I love her, okay? See you later," he said then quickly hung up and stuffed his phone in his pocket. He then turned to the housekeeper and smiled. “Tell him I’ll be down in a few minutes.”

The housekeeper bowed again then left, closing the door behind her. Hiro quickly went into the bathroom and washed his face so that Raiden wouldn’t know he had cried. He didn’t know why but Raiden always seemed to know when he was bothered by something. He didn’t want to bother Raiden with any more of his problems. Besides, this was between him and his brother. He could handle it.

The dining room was a masterpiece of elegance, a space that screamed wealth and refinement. The walls were adorned with rich, dark wood panelling that seemed to absorb the light from the crystal chandelier above, casting a warm, golden glow over the room. The table itself was massive and the chairs, upholstered in plush, cream-colored velvet looked regal and inviting. Hiro could imagine how comfy they would feel.

As he descended the stairs, he caught sight of Raiden from across the room and for a moment, he paused, taking in the breath taking view before him. How had he never noticed how handsome Raiden was before? Was it because he was afraid of him and hated him so much?

He watched as Raiden sipped his tea while speaking on the phone with someone. Hiro thought he had to be discussing something important for Raiden looked really serious but it did nothing to mar his handsomeness. His chiselled features were illuminated by the soft light of the chandelier. His dark hair was slicked back while the red streaks fell over the right side of his forehead, revealing his sharp jawline and piercing smokey grey eyes. He was dressed in a black tailored suit that accentuated his broad shoulders and muscles.

At that moment, Hiro didn’t know why but he suddenly pictured Raiden without a shirt and imagined touching his strong muscles, feeling the warmth and smoothness of his flesh under the pad of his fingers.

“Hiro!” He heard Raiden call, the deep voice snapping him out of his reverie. “Why are you just standing there? Come in.”

Having been caught staring, Hiro blushed crimson. He lowered his head and quickly made his way to Raiden’s side and sat down on the chair closest to him.

Raiden’s smoky grey eyes lit up with amusement, as if he knew exactly what had been on Hiro’s mind, and he was pleased by it. The corners of his eyes crinkled at the edges, and his pupils seemed to gleam with a warm, intimate light. Hiro went even redder and refused to make eye contact with Raiden. He was thin skinned and he felt extremely embarrassed having been caught blatantly staring. Still, he was grateful that Raiden didn’t tease him about it.

Despite being on the phone with his secretary, Raiden didn’t let his attention wander. He continued to speak in a low, smooth tone, his voice a gentle accompaniment to the soft clinking of silverware against fine china. He served Hiro a bowl of steaming hot rice and soup, then moved the side dishes closer so that Hiro wouldn’t have to stretch too much to get them.

He then poured Hiro a cup of hot green tea from the delicate porcelain teapot, his fingers grazing Hiro’s as he placed the cup by Hiro’s side. The touch was brief, but it sent a spark of electricity through Hiro’s body. His heart began to pound and he felt tingly all over.

He groaned inwardly. Since when did he begin to feel like this around Raiden? He shook his head, as if trying to disperse of all the feelings then broke his chopsticks. With a barely audible expression of gratitude, he began to eat.
