Chapter 19 - 19: What happened Last night?

Her eyes snapped open as he looked down; she was wearing his oversized shirt, the fabric pooling around her thighs. Panic surged through her. "What the... What the f*ck did you do to me? Did we do anything last night? Why are my clothes changed?"

Nate moved close to her, stood before her, and his presence made surroundings warm, watching her eyes, saying, "What if I said yes?"

Eve froze in shock; she couldn't remember anything last night, just remembering his touches last night.

"Not bad as I thought," he said. He took a slow sip, his eyes never leaving hers.

Evangeline's breath increasing, she jumped out of bed in anger, "You assh*le", she shouted in anger, her bare foot slipping on the smooth floor. Just before she could fall, Nate reached out, his grip around her waist. Their faces were mere inches from each other, his breath warm against her skin. For a brief moment, the room fell silent as her gaze met his. His smirk transformed into a look that was almost... charming. Realizing the closeness, Eve snapped back, pushing herself upright, breaking the contact.

"Not again," Nate teased. "I know I'm handsome, but try to control yourself."

Eve rolled her eyes, her cheeks still flushed. "Huh!!!!! Don't assume that I know it's never happened, it's never going to happen," she said, adjusting her cleavage of the shirt.

Nate shrugged, his movements casual. "It's already happened once, Honey."

Her mind raced, trying to remember, but nothing came to her. "Do you have any proof?"

"Proof? I am not that kind of a person, but for the record, you have a mole on your inner thigh, and..."

"Just stop... " her face flushed red with anger. "I don't want to hear that. If it happened, I'd kill you! "

"Try me," Nate said with a chuckle.

Eve let out a long breath, her embarrassment turning into annoyance. "Okay...What time now?"

"8:40. Why?" he glanced at his phone.

Evangeline's eyes widened in shock. "8:40?! Oh my God, I need to get home! Otherwise, I'll be in trouble."

"Where's your closet?" she demanded, her legs ready to run.

"Hey, relax. Today is a Sunday; don't bother yourself."

" Sunday or Monday, it doesn't matter; I just want to go," she said, her words resembling her tension.

He pointed to a sleek cupboard. She searched through it, finally pulling out a pair of black joggers and a white hoodie. Throwing them on quickly, she grabbed Nate's hand. "You have to drop me off. Come on! Let's go."

Nate raised an eyebrow with a cool tone, "Why me? "

" Because you have to. Did I say that that to drop me at your house?"

"No."

"Then, you don't have other options. Drop me now." Evangeline ordered him with a faltered face.

"You are ordering me?" he asked, one brow bended like questioning. At the same time, his mind sparked with a new idea. Wait, she asked me to drop her at her house. Shit! This is a great opportunity to identify her current location. He moved his thoughts aside. He nodded, "Fine, fine, I will drop you. I don't like girls begging other than the bed," he said, grabbing his keys, the metallic jingle echoing in the room.

She thought Shit! I am tired of sick jokes. But she didn't express her inner core feelings, and her face remains a forceful smile.

After getting in the car, Eve sat in the backseat, trying to change back into her dress. Nate glanced at her through the rearview mirror, his smirk growing.

She caught his gaze and scowled. "The road is in front of the car, not on my face... Be a gentleman, Nate!" Then she started to change her clothes.

He chuckled and kept driving. "Don't talk like nothing I haven't seen before."

"Uh!!!!!!!! I am sick of your cringe jokes," she shouted, adjusting her hair.

As they drove, Evangeline carefully instructed Nate on how to get to her house as they drove through the familiar streets. After a few minutes, they neared her neighborhood. With a sense of anticipation, she pointed toward the end of the street and said, "You can stop the car here."

Nate looked at her with a hint of confusion in his eyes. "Why here? Your house is only about 100 meters away," he replied, glancing ahead as he slowed the vehicle.

Evangeline is checking outside. "I prefer to walk the last bit. It gives me a chance to take in the scenery and enjoy"

"Is it?" he asked, turning to look at her.

"Okay.... Fine. " She admitted, her voice strained. "I'm just pretending I went jogging, otherwise, I am in trouble, you are in trouble, we are both in trouble." She pauses, then, "I can explain tomorrow. Do you have any water?"

Nate pretended to be confused. "Okay..." he said, grabbing a water bottle from the cup holder.

Evangeline stood outside the car, opened the bottle, and sprinkled water a little bit on her face and neck. "How do I look? All sweaty and convincing?" she asked, waving her hands rapidly, seeking for fresh air.

Nate shook his head. "I have no idea what's going on in your mind."

"Ugh! Never mind. Okay, bye, and thanks for dropping me off!" Without another word, she kept jogging towards her house.

Evangeline has no idea what's about to happen next. She acts like she's been jogging for hours and steps into her house, pretending to be exhausted.

Inside the hall, Serena stood holding an expensive bag, pointing at the bodyguards. "Where is she?" she questioned with anger.

Chris's mind raced, watching Serena's anger. We are going to die today. I still don't know where she is. She had left her phone in her room. Even saying a single word could lead to big problems. It's our fault for falling into her trap while we were too drunk last night.

Evangeline freezes, her eyes wide. Her heart sank as she spotted her bodyguards, Chris and Micheal, standing in front of her mom and dad. She muttered to herself, "I'm dead. But I left no choice. " She was ready to face it and entered the hall, pretending to be casual. "Mommy! Dad! When did you get here? Why didn't you call me?"

Serena turns towards her, raising her brows. "Wait... Seriously, Evangeline Winters, I didn't call you. Where have you been all night?" asked with fury.

Evangeline panicked inside. "How long she is here? Is that I'm going to die?" she thought.
