Betrothed To An Alpha? I Don't Think So!-Chapter 112: Blood Test
It’d been thirty minutes since they began talking and now, the doctor was blinking his eyes rapidly. What he’d heard was the last thing he’d expected Lincoln to tell him.
"You’re...her real father?" he asked.
Lincoln nodded. "I am."
The doctor took a moment to digest this information. He inquired, "But...why are you telling me this, sir?"
"Because I want you to take a blood test for me. And I know if you do, you will find out that she’s my biological daughter and not my brother’s daughter."
"But a blood test for what?" The doctor still seemed confused regardless.
"You said her blood was different, like nothing you’ve ever seen before. I want to find out if it’s mine or her mother’s."
"Her mother...?" The doctor stroked his chin. He nodded, rattling his chair to stand up. "Alright then, I’ll set you up for it."
Lincoln stood to his feet as well. "Is my daughter really okay?"
"Yes, she’s alright." The doctor nodded. "The only strange things are her blood and the speed of her heart rate. Set aside those things, every other thing is perfectly okay."
Lincoln let out a soft breath of relief. He walked with the doctor to the door, but before the doctor could step out, he said to him, "Concerning what I just told you, it would be really great if you could keep it between you and me. It’s a family thing and the public is unaware of this information, so..."
The doctor half smiled at him. "There is nothing to worry about, sir. Patients’ information is confidential. It’s against the law for me to do such a thing, so even if you didn’t ask, I had no intention of leaking your information out there."
"Thank you," Lincoln nodded and left with him to process the test.

Evelyn stayed curled up on the hospital bed. No matter what Brandon asked her, she wouldn’t respond. She wouldn’t even eat at all. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"Evelyn, you need to eat," Brandon said to her. But she wouldn’t even look at him.
Her mind had been completely stuck on Zayne. She could still vividly recall how he fell into that sea beneath the bridge trying to save her. Where was he? Why wasn’t he here? He should be the one inside this room seated by her side, not...Brandon.
Her lips trembled. "Where is Zayne?" she asked.
Brandon blinked. "Evelyn—"
"Where is he?" she glared up at him. "I don’t care about food, nor your worry. I don’t care about anything, I just want to know where he is. Where is Zayne? Why isn’t he here? Why hasn’t he come to see me? Is that he doesn’t want to?"
Brandon balled his fists.
What was he to tell her?
Without even being told, he was aware that she knew he had fallen off that bridge. But her head was unwilling to accept that fact and she’d laid asking of his whereabouts as if this was where he was meant to be.
To be honest, while he knew Zayne Mancini was a strong man, he found it too hard to believe that the man would survive a fall like that. It had begun snowing a bit and that sea was too cold. If he were lucky, maybe he wouldn’t freeze to death.
But whose to say? It’s been a day and a half since the incident. And there had been no news from Alessio. Even—
Someone burst through the door.
"Evelyn!"
It was Amber.
Evelyn slowly lifted her head, watching as she rushed over to her. Amber was breathing heavily, an apologetic look on her face. "Evelyn..."
Evelybn couldn’t answer her. All she could do was lie back down, too tired and too exhausted to say a word. Zayne was who she wanted to see. He was all she could think about, and no one was willing to answer her, to tell her where he was, or what had happened to him.
"Evelyn," Amber nervously played with her fingers. "I’m sorry," she said, voice shaking. "It was all my fault. I-if I hadn’t persuaded you to go. If I hadn’t convinced you, none of this would have happened. You didn’t want to go at all, you were against it, but...I..."
Still, Evelyn didn’t make a response.
And by now, Amber had begun sobbing. "Do you hate me now? Is that why you won’t say a word to me?" She sniffled. "I know I messed up, I know that all this would not have happened if I hadn’t persuaded you, but please don’t go silent on me. You’re my best friend. Say something to me."
Still nothing.
Evelyn was completely silent, lifting her hands to cover her ears. It was almost as if she didn’t want to hear anyone talk. She wanted to be left alone. Her head was banging and her chest was in a sort of pain she couldn’t describe.
Brandon, who was watching, sighed. "I think we should leave her alone for now."
"W-what do you mean?" Amber looked at him. "I want to speak with her. I want her to talk to me, and—"
"I don’t think she’s in a good condition now. Look at her state. It’s not just you." Brandon shook his head. "She’d been unwilling to talk to me, including my uncle. All she wants is Zayne, and Zayne Mancini is not here right now. It’s best we speak to Alessio first and find out what the update with Zayne is. If there is anything good, I think she might be willing to speak then."
"D-do you think so?" Amber asked. "Is she really okay?"
Brandon nodded. "She is. She’s not able to fully accept the situation at hand right now. And I understand. After all, she’s clearly deeply in love with that man."
Letting out a soft breath, he grabbed Amber and proceeded to leave the ward with her.
"Should we call the doctor?" Amber asked. "M-maybe he can fix her. Maybe he can talk to her and—"
"The doctor already checked her out and there is nothing he can do for now. He still needs to monitor her condition and if she gets worse than this, then maybe..." He paused briefly, blowing out a soft breath. "I hope it doesn’t get to that point. It won’t be good at all. She could lose everything she’s worked hard for if her condition deteriorates."
