Chapter 46 - 041: The Schizophrenic Fire-Breathing Dragon Monster
"I heard the air up there is thinner, makes it easier for people to suffocate," Yi Luowa chuckled.
"I'd rather suffocate than breathe the same air as you!" Tong Airui shot her a disdainful glance.
Technically, Yi Luowa's height of 1.68 meters wasn't short, but standing next to Tong Airui, she barely reached his shoulder. It seriously aggravated her.
"Hey, what did you eat to grow so tall?" Yi Luowa frowned at him. freewebnøvel.coɱ
"Do I not have a name?" Tong Airui asked with knitted brows.
"Master... Ding!" The elevator arrived at the first floor. Yi Luowa puckered her lips and said, "Master, you go on ahead."
Tong Airui shot her a glance, and the two stepped out, one after the other.
One with broken ribs, the other limping—they crawled like snails, taking forever to reach the garden.
Yi Luowa waved at the bench with her hand. "Master, please sit. I've already brushed off the dust."
Tong Airui sat down graciously.
Yi Luowa scrunched her nose in disdain. If she didn't need his help, she'd never stoop to doing something so revolting!
Tong Airui turned his head to glance at her, and Yi Luowa quickly swapped her expression for a grin.
"Face-changing King!" Tong Airui smirked and said, "Ask whatever you want!"
Yi Luowa propped her injured leg on one end of the bench and frowned. "Did my second uncle ever tell you who I am?"
"You look great like this! A gentle breeze passing through, I guarantee you won't flash anyone!" Tong Airui grinned, clearly in a delightful mood.
Yi Luowa quickly pressed her skirt down with her hand. "You dirty... Master~ I've been so obedient. Just tell me already!"
Tong Airui shivered and snapped sternly, "Speak properly!"
"Yes, Master." Yi Luowa solemnly lowered her leg and sat down without even wiping the bench.
"Your second uncle doesn't know who you are either! That's the answer!"
Yi Luowa immediately flipped out. "What the hell?! Dragging a cripple all the way down here just for that one line? Are you bored out of your mind?"
"Yes, it's very painful!" Tong Airui said darkly, glaring at her.
Yi Luowa deflated instantly, grabbing her skirt to angrily rub the fabric.
"Fire off at me again, and I'll extend your work deadline!" Tong Airui warned.
"Bullshit!"
"Swear again, and it's one day added. Lose your temper, one week!"
Yi Luowa turned away, puffing her cheeks in irritation.
Tong Airui took a look at her and spoke in a low voice, "Your second uncle has long known that you're not actually part of the Yi family. He investigated the hospital where you were born but couldn't uncover anything."
Yi Luowa pouted and turned to Tong Airui. "He couldn't find anything—what about you?"
Tong Airui met her gaze head-on. "Can you tell me first—if I help you find your parents, will you leave your second uncle?"
Yi Luowa swiftly avoided his gaze, mumbling, "I used to think about leaving, because I was afraid I'd hurt him. But now I've already hurt him so much—how could I leave? Besides, even if you help me find my parents, I wouldn't acknowledge them. I'm afraid I'd harm them too. But I still really want to know who I am."
"I told you, I'll prove your innocence!" Tong Airui said sternly.
Inside, Yi Luowa rolled her eyes hard. This beast was officially classified: a fire-breathing dragon monster!
"Beep beep..." Tong Airui's phone suddenly rang.
"Speak!"
"Four Master, Bai Bowen transferred all the cash out of his accounts and booked a flight for tonight."
"Leak that information to Xi Meichen immediately!"
"Yes, sir!"
Tong Airui hung up and looked at Yi Luowa. "It won't be long now."
"Beep beep..." Yi Luowa had just opened her mouth to speak when Tong Airui's phone rang yet again.
"Uncle, what brings you to call me?"
Two calls, two attitudes, two tones. Yi Luowa reclassified Tong Airui: a fire-breathing dragon monster with split personalities!
"You've stirred up so much trouble; if I didn't ask, it wouldn't sit right." Over the phone, Mi Xiaotian's teasing voice came through.
Tong Airui chuckled. "Uncle, you've got quick information! But your call is mistaken—it's a gift from Third and Fifth Brothers to you, nothing to do with me."
"You little brat! Such a grand move—do you really think they could pull this off? Still, I'll thank you anyway. Word has it, you've put a splint on Aino's wrist?"
"He's played around for years; it's time he shoulders some burden for you and Aunt." A faint smile tugged at Tong Airui's lips. "When are you and Aunt coming back? My sister and the others have all arrived."
"Tomorrow, our flight's only half an hour behind Lance's."
"Alright, I'll arrange for someone to pick you up at the airport."
"Airui, since you've acted, strike hard—don't give her any chance to rise again!"
"Uncle, I understand!"
Speaking of which, the Xi Meichen that even Mi Xiaotian wanted to crush was still sitting in the conference room. Her tears had dried out, her voice was hoarse from screaming, but apart from her cowardly son and the daughter sobbing into hysteria, there was no one else by her side.
Such is the coldness of society—this world is just that brutally realistic! When the tide turns against you, who will still stick around?
"Mom, what do we do next?" Yi Shaoqing asked, his face full of distress, as he looked at Xi Meichen sitting like a clay sculpture in the chair.
"Don't worry, I still have money..." Xi Meichen hadn't even finished her sentence when her phone rang.
"Xi Meichen, Bai Bowen has transferred all the money in his accounts and booked tonight's flight to T-country..."
With a "thud," the phone fell to the ground. Xi Meichen clutched the table, staggering up—this couldn't be real! This couldn't be real!
After standing frozen in shock for less than a minute, Xi Meichen picked up the phone and dashed out of the conference room like a madwoman. Yi Shaoqing and Yi Lingfei exchanged a glance and chased after her.
