Chapter 263: It might be a little creepy
Michael ran through the other items with Maxwell and Andrew, even if Andrew was a blushing, flushed and flustered mess. Normally he was able to handle these topics better, but he was just so in his emotions that it was hard for him to be anything but a shy teenager.
Maxwell handled it better, asking any questions that Andrew himself had. Michael also gave them several boxes of true alpha day after pills, and advised Maxwell to take the max dose every day as long as his Doctor permitted it. They could have strong side effects, since they were a different brand from what Maxwell already had, and Maxwell agreed to bring it up with his Doctor tomorrow.
Once everything else was out of the way, Michael made sure that Andrew was okay from today’s interaction, checked on his knuckles at Maxwell’s prompting, and also took some blood for his own tests. He was doing so just to be on the safe side, and to see what his levels were like currently. Pre rut.
Andrew was also interested in the bloodwork, and sent Michael away with a few baked goods from the freezer and a promise that once this was all over, they should go out for dinner and maybe a few drinks, just the two of them.
Michael had given him a knowing look, and corrected Andrew to a few non-alcoholic drinks and Andrew had laughed nervously. Michael waved goodbye to Maxwell, keeping his distance and then, the door was closed and it was just the two of them.
"Will we have time tomorrow to go pick out a collar?" Andrew asked, sliding the lock into place before he turned to face Maxwell. Maxwell was still sitting on the couch. He had his arms up on the back of the couch, smiling at Andrew. Andrew flushed. He was looking at him like he hung the moon and the stars and Andrew had to really hold himself back. "Don’t look at me like that. I’m doing my best to hold back right now." Andrew muttered and Maxwell laughed, tossing his head back before he got to his feet.
Andrew wandered over, meeting him halfway as Maxwell wrapped his arms around him, hugging him tightly. Maxwell’s soft sigh filled Andrew with warmth.
"Baby, I don’t want you to think less of me." Maxwell started, tilting his head back to look up at Andrew as he held him. Andrew blinked, before furrowing his brow.
"I would never do such a thing." Andrew said and Maxwell smiled.
"Okay, well, follow me then." Maxwell said, releasing Andrew’s body to grab his hand, tugging him towards the bedroom. Andrew went willingly, wondering what Maxwell didn’t want him to judge him on. freёnovelkiss.com
It wasn’t until Maxwell was bent, pulling out a long, wooden box that had been tucked under his suit pants that a sneaking suspicion began to fill him. Andrew took the box from him and Maxwell chuckled.
"Can you put that on the bed for me before you open it?" Maxwell asked and Andrew nodded, swallowing as he did so. Andrew followed his instructions, placing the long, nice wooden box on the bed. It was only about as wide as a smaller notepad, but was quite long in length. Maxwell reached past Andrew, sliding the two little locks open before letting out a breath and flipping open the case.
Inside were several, about 5 or six elaborate collars. All of them were thick, made of good material, and fancy. Andrew didn’t know what to say as Maxwell let out a dry chuckle. He gestured to the collars, his ears pink.
"I got these while you were at the coffee shop meeting her. I ordered them, actually. A bit...hopeful, I know, but you were suddenly a free agent and I just wanted to cover my bases in case...you know, things developed." Maxwell swallowed. "They arrived while you were missing." Silence hung between them as Andrew reached out, touching the collars.
They looked velvety on the outside, at least the one that he touched, but it was made of thick, good quality leather underneath. The stitching was nice, elaborate, and Andrew stared at the black, shifting colour. Some of them had buckles, while others had gems.
"I think there is a significance here that I’m not understanding." Andrew muttered and Maxwell gave him a slightly bitter smile.
"Well, normally it’s the beta who offers up the collar." Maxwell said and Andrew shook his head.
"No, not that. You know I don’t care that you’re a go-getter in that regard. I also wouldn’t care what others thought if you showed me what kind of collar you wanted. I like when you tell me what you like. This is...far more official than I think, isn’t it?" Andrew asked and Maxwell sighed.
"It’s like...a mating mark." Maxwell muttered. "Like a sign that we are a bonded pair." He admitted and Andrew felt his face heat. Ah.
And Maxwell had bought them the day after he and Tracey had broken up.
Maxwell had always been wearing his heart on his sleeve. He just also happened to be wearing a jacket overtop of said sleeve.
Maxwell looked nervous, and a little embarrassed that he’d admitted such a thing and Andrew sighed, reached out, and pulled Maxwell against him, his arm wrapped around his shoulder. Andrew pressed his lips against the top of Maxwell’s head.
"Angel, you bought this after I broke up with my girlfriend?" Andrew confirmed, and Maxwell flinched.
"Wishful thinking, right?" Maxwell joked, at his own expense and Andrew sighed. "It’s a little creepy, isn’t it?" The words felt like they slipped out, and Andrew didn’t like them.
"Wishful thinking? Creepy? Absolutely not. Sounds like you were just manifesting what you wanted. Plus, it isn’t as if that wasn’t a very real possibility. If what happened hadn’t, I was probably only a few weeks out from one drunken night of kissing you ’by accident’." Maxwell glanced up at Andrew, his expression open, vulnerable, and Andrew sighed.
"Manifesting what I wanted? I thought people just thought that was crazy behaviour." Maxwell said softly and Andrew frowned.
"Maybe some would say that, but you’re too pretty and sweet for that to be true for you." Andrew felt Maxwell jerk, before he started laughing. His eyes, still vulnerable, changed slightly, his expression brightening.
"Me? Sweet? Oh Baby, that’s very nice of you to say." Maxwell smiled. "But you don’t need to-" Andrew raised his other hand, pressing a finger against his lips, a little silly, and little aggressive. Maxwell gave him a shocked look as Andrew bent, pressing his lips against his cheek.
"Hush. You are sweet and pretty and kind and everything else. Fuck what anyone else says about you. You’re my boyfriend, and honestly, I’d be pretty upset if you were this sweet to anyone else. Now, which one did you want?" Andrew said, turning his attention back to the collars on the bed. "I know you got all of these for yourself, but you must have a favourite, right?" Andrew said, scanning the selection and releasing Maxwell’s lips.
Maxwell remained silent for a moment before he let out a sigh. It sounded like he was releasing more than just air from his lungs.
"I actually weaned this down from a much larger list. I like all of these, so it’s your turn to pick. Which one do you think would look good on me? With nothing else on?" Maxwell added the last little bit and Andrew frowned, his nostrils flaring as he felt himself harden at just the thought.
Andrew exhaled slowly, carefully as he looked over his selection.
"Honestly? I think you would look great in all of them. I am drawn to the velvet one, but I also like this one that has pretty blue gems. Match your eyes." Andrew said, turning to give Maxwell a smile. "Both would look good against your creamy skin tone. Especially when you’re with me." Andrew said and Maxwell had to take a second as Andrew’s pheromones flared, wrapping both of them up in his tight embrace. Maxwell coughed, his face flushing as Andrew smirked.
"W-Well, why don’t we take both of those out, and I’ll wear one of them tomorrow for our Doctor’s visit, just in case. That way it’s one less thing to worry about if everything goes sideways after." Andrew nodded.
He was glad that everyone was planning as if things were going to hit the wall as soon as Maxwell’s visit was over. He didn’t think he’d turn into a raving lunatic in the hospital, but he appreciated that everyone was behaving as if that was what was going to happen. Maybe they had more knowledge on this than he did.
Scratch that, they really did all have more knowledge then Andrew. He was, as Michael and Maxwell had said, just handling this much better compared to others. If they were to be believed. Andrew just couldn’t see himself tearing off Maxwell’s clothing in the hospital to have his way with him though.
It was a hospital, of all places. They didn’t exactly make one think of sex. In fact, Andrew only thought of birth and death when it came to them.
Andrew nodded, fingering the velvet collar, the slightly abrasive fabric keeping him in the moment.
"Sounds good. Shall we just cuddle on the bed until we fall asleep then?" Andrew suggested, and Maxwell chuckled.
"Sounds like a good plan to me."
