Chapter 262: Alpha or beta, we’re in this together

Andrew somehow managed to behave himself, even as Maxwell shifted on the couch to get closer to Michael as he opened the box. It was clear from the top of it that he had already opened the box to confirm the contents, and had folded the flaps in so that he could secure it.

Andrew forced himself to sit down in between Maxwell and Michael, his shoulders stiff and ignored how both of them were fighting smiles. At least they were being polite and not bringing it up.

"So, the condoms finally arrived. They also sent some other products for me to give out to my clients, and I just left them in the box to go over them with you." Maxwell nodded, moving closer. Andrew only relaxed when Maxwell placed his hand on his thigh, giving it a comforting squeeze.

"Okay. I am assuming that you looked over those products as well?" Maxwell said, and Michael leaned back after opening the box and sliding it across the coffee table, towards the couple.

"Yes, of course. I did take out a few things since I didn’t think they would be helpful to you. You two aren’t trying to get pregnant, instead you’re trying to prevent it. I made sure those products were removed." Andrew swallowed, nodding. He, personally, agreed with him, but the part of him that was close to his rut was against the idea.

Pregnancy prevention? Why should he worry about that?

Andrew swallowed again, his hand tightening into a fist on his thigh. He was working hard to make sure his pheromones didn’t come out. He should know better. It also wouldn’t be fair to influence the others with his complicated emotions right now.

"Andy?" Michael’s voice rang out and Andrew jerked, glancing towards the other man. He was watching him, his eyes narrow, gauging his response. Andrew flushed. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

"Sorry. I just-" Michael shook his head.

"No man. I should have known better. Never mention pregnancy around an alpha in rut." Michael shook his head, his smile apologetic. "Nothing wrong with you, Andy. It’s a common thing. It slipped my mind because you are...well, you. You’ve been handling this so well I just..." Michael trailed off. "Well, maybe handling this so well is a bit of an understatement. Look at how close I am to Maxwell right now and you aren’t snarling and growling at me." Michael said, gesturing to the space between the three of them.

Andrew blinked, unsure. He was close, a little too close for his comfort, but Maxwell had his hand on his thigh. He was okay.

"Give yourself some credit, Andy. You’re doing a great job. Some people react even worse. Once it came out that you were in your rut during the situation earlier today, the police understood your situation much better. It doesn’t excuse you of getting violent, not by a long shot, but the messages and the CCTV that they had, with all of the shit he was saying? You were in the clear. Plus, that’s only about today. You’ve been doing wonderful these past few days." Maxwell said carefully, warmly, and Andrew felt his throat tighten with emotion.

"Let’s just...focus on the condoms, okay?" Andrew asked softly, and both of them smiled.

"Of course." Maxwell said, and Andrew didn’t like how they were both treating him like this. It wasn’t a bad way to treat him. He just...felt rather uncomfortable. It felt like they both wanted to reach out and ruffle his hair. He hadn’t had anyone do that to him in years, maybe a decade. Certainly not since his Mom had passed.

"Alright. So, again, prevention. The condoms are expensive, and relatively thick. They are supposed to be that way to help with the prevention idea. Another thing to note." Michael reached into the cardboard box, pulling out a smaller, but still made out of cardboard box.

It was the condoms, but from the look of the packaging you couldn’t tell what was inside right away. He popped open the top, pulling out a few. Two were connected at a time, and from the front of the packaging, it seemed that only 10 were in a box. Andrew felt like that wasn’t a lot given how expensive they were, and if Andrew was realistic, how often he could cum at any given time.

Especially during a rut. If Maxwell during his heat was anything to go by.

"These can last up to two times. Normal condoms are a no go for this kind of behaviour, but these are made to prevent rut pregnancies, especially from true alphas. Like Mr. Beckett here, these condoms were made by a very business minded omega who was sick and tired of true alphas being stupid and whiney during ruts." Andrew felt his face warm again.

Michael reached out, patting Andrew’s knee with his hand, a sparkle in his eye.

"I doubt that you’ll be like that, because you were raised by your Mom, but some true alphas are like that. I can say that from experience that you are a rather prominent exception to that, Andy." Maxwell’s hand on his thigh squeezed him again and Andrew turned his head. Maxwell’s blue eyes were warm.

"Not you Andy. And if you do whine, you better believe that I am never going to let you live it down." Maxwell promised and Andrew covered his face with his hands, groaning.

"Can I just...skip it?" He asked. "Everything sounds awful." Andrew muttered. "And I don’t really like the feelings I’m feeling." Andrew complained and Michael sighed.

"Well, for one, the rut suppressants I gave you when you were going through your first rut probably aren’t going to work again. You were in a very light rut, and we haven’t tested anything on you since. With that being said, as your Doctor, you should ride out your first official rut. It’s better for your body. Why do you think Maxwell has been riding out his heats instead of using suppressants this whole time? It’s better for him. Those who use suppressants all the time are those who can one, afford it, and two, haven’t manifested later in life, or don’t have strange circumstances surrounding their secondary genders. You kind of have both. So, please, ride out this one, and if it’s truly awful, we can revisit the drawing board on the no suppressants issue." Michael was being very understanding, and Andrew kind of felt foolish for even voicing it.

He wasn’t really opposed to going through with his rut. He really wasn’t. He was just feeling emotional, and he wasn’t confident in his choices suddenly. He was really worried that he was going to fuck up, mark Maxwell, ruin everyone’s life, etc.

"Sorry. I know that kind of came out of the blue. I’m just sorting through my feelings." Andrew muttered and Michael chuckled.

"It’s okay. I actually kind of expected you to say something about it. If you were still insistent, I was planning to have you get some bloodwork done at the hospital while Maxwell was with his Doctor, but you backed down rather quickly." Michael said with a smile. Andrew, unable to put a halt to his words, spoke again.

"Is there something that would make sure I don’t accidentally mark Maxwell? Against his will?" Andrew blurted, and Michael’s expression froze. Andrew was afraid to look at Maxwell.

"Uh..." Michael dragged on, and Maxwell sighed softly next to Andrew. He felt like a piece of shit, but he hadn’t been able to stop himself from talking. From opening his mouth.

"Andy, Baby, look at me." Andrew flinched at the soft way he was speaking to him. He did, however, turn to look at Maxwell. Maxwell’s expression was calm, not upset or angry in the slightest. "Do you want me to wear a collar during your rut?" He asked softly and Andrew swallowed. A collar? That’s what it was called? Andrew’s Mom had never worn one, and he noticed that neither Jenny, Jordan or Amir wore one.

"Is that...is it a bad thing?" Andrew asked and Maxwell shook his head, giving Andrew’s thigh a squeeze.

"No. It’s usually worn by omegas with beta partners, to show that the omega isn’t available. I would have worn one if you had remained a beta." Maxwell told him and Andrew swallowed. "So, it’s okay. I don’t mind. What I will tell you," Maxwell’s grip was bruising, "is that it would never upset me, I would never turn away from you if you marked me. Even by accident." Andrew felt his breathing grow shallow at the seriousness in Maxwell’s gaze. He meant his words.

Andrew knew that they had kind of discussed this, but having Maxwell tell him so upfront really...It really settled a part of Andrew’s worry, and shook up a whole different side of him. Andrew felt his hands begin to shake and it took him a few minutes to compose himself.

"Okay. Okay." Andrew repeated, nodding. "I...Okay." They let him gather himself and when he was ready, he spoke. "I would still like...if you wore a collar. Please?" Andrew asked and Maxwell gave him a small smile.

"Okay Baby. I’ll wear it still." Maxwell told him and Andrew nodded.

"T-The condoms. They work for two rounds?" Andrew said, turning away from what felt like an enormous moment. Michael met his gaze, a glimmer there that Andrew was going to ignore.

"Yes, and I made sure that you two had about 10 days worth. I have no idea what you are going to get up to, but considering how much false cum you two went through, I felt that was a safe guess. If it isn’t, Maxwell, call me. I’ve already put in another order so that I have some on hand no matter what, and I’ll make sure your company has their info." Maxwell nodded.

"Thank you, Michael. I’m hopeful that will be enough, and that they don’t break this time." Maxwell joked, but Andrew swallowed. He had a feeling that if they did, they were both screwed, in more ways than one.
