Chapter 265: An alpha in an omega waiting room
Andrew felt like he was stiff as a board. His whole body was rock solid, and he was incredibly nervous. He was probably more nervous then when he had first gone to the Doctor with Maxwell. Maxwell, however, was cool, collected.
It was only the slight tremble in his hands that gave away his true feelings.
Andrew was watching him like a hawk. Taking in every small interaction, every little twitch and movement since he hadn’t been able to notice it last time. It did not help his nerves, since he was now also worried for Maxwell, but it was okay. Andrew was going to be able to deal with this.
What also didn’t help is that neither of them got up soon enough to have a little private jerk off session, so that was adding another layer of tension to their already anxious states. Andrew swore he could smell Maxwell with every inhale, and it was driving a part of him crazy. He had to go rub one out in the bathroom by himself, upstairs, as Maxwell got ready. Otherwise he thought he was going to lose his mind.
Neither Maxwell nor Andrew were going to be able to drive to the hospital, so Luis volunteered her services. She arrived early, thankfully, and Andrew and Maxwell piled into the car. Maxwell had chosen the velvet collar to wear, and Luis’ eyes had widened when she realised her son was wearing a collar.
"Uh, Maxwell? What are you wearing?" She asked, confused, and curious. Andrew was tapping his foot, his energy all over the place and Maxwell didn’t say anything about it. He just took Andrew’s hand, and opened the window on his side so he could breathe. Andrew felt his heart ache at the simple way that Maxwell was showing him that he loved him and was trying to support him the best that he could.
"I’m wearing an outfit that you helped me select, Mom. Don’t you recognise it? It was from your last collection." Maxwell replied, and his Mom sighed. She started the car after checking that they both had their seatbelts on and took off. It was actually surprising that she was able to see the collar since Maxwell normally wore a scarf.
Andrew jerked, realising that Maxwell didn’t have his gloves, or scarf on, and instead only had a hat on. He was being so accommodating and was also showing off his collar. Andrew melted slightly.
"We’re making sure Max is safe in case I take a turn at the hospital." Andrew said, speaking up since he knew what Luis was asking about. Maxwell’s lips twitched, but he remained silent. Luis glanced back at Andrew through the rear view mirror and nodded.
"Thank you for clarifying, Andy. I just...I had no idea that you two had discussed that. It’s not really any of my business, but..." Her gaze slid to Maxwell. "It looks good on you, son. The velvet suits your outfit." It was high praise from his fashionista Mom, and Andrew could tell that Maxwell glowed a little under the praise. It was pretty cute how red his ears turned. Andrew gave his hand a squeeze.
"Maxy always looks well dressed." Andrew offered easily, and watched as Maxwell blushed more. Luis chuckled.
"Well, I didn’t give him those good looks for him to waste. I am glad that unlike his brothers, he took to fashion a bit more seriously." She sighed. "I don’t regret having all boys, truly, but I am hopeful I might get some granddaughters, or some grandsons who are interested in fashion like I am." Andrew felt a little apologetic.
"Sorry that I’m not really a fashion kind of guy." Andrew apologised and Luis waved a hand dismissively.
"It’s perfectly fine, Andy. I’m happy with the way you are. You suit Maxwell, and Maxwell suits you. I wouldn’t ask either of you to change." Luis said, a small smile on her face. The rest of the ride was filled with simple, easy chatter. Enough to take his mind off of the stress ahead of them. Until they got to the parking lot, Luis parked in executive parking, and got out of the car.
Both Maxwell and Andrew were surprised, but Luis just smiled tightly.
"Did you really think I would let you two go alone this time? Not after last time. You need someone there who isn’t scared. I won’t go into the room with you. I’ll be in the waiting room, waiting. I just want you two to know I will be there to support you." Maxwell looked as if he wanted to argue, holding onto Andrew’s hand while they stood out in the cold.
Maxwell clearly fought with himself internally, before he spun, sighing, and dragged Andrew after him. Too cold to argue with his Mom, who looked smug that she’d gotten her way.
"Fine. Do what you want." Maxwell muttered, marching towards one of the hospitals his family ran.

Andrew thought he was going to die.
Before, when he had been in here, he hadn’t noticed how strong the smell of other omegas were. He had been focused on his own fears and Maxwell, which had been enough to distract his nose. That was not the case this time. He felt dizzy, woozy, like he was intoxicated. He felt sick too, since he didn’t want to be near these other omegas, he just wanted Maxwell.
Maxwell and Luis didn’t realise how bad it was at first. He couldn’t blame them, and he wouldn’t. They were nervous in their own right. Maxwell had his own trauma related to the hospital, and Luis was looking out for her baby boy. Andrew didn’t think he was an afterthought, just that those issues had risen to the forefront as soon as they entered the hospital.
To be fair to them, he had been okay. For a time. They had checked in, Maxwell was only a few short minutes from his appointment. It wasn’t until a trio of omegas had entered the space that everything had gone wrong.
Andrew knew that they were in heat. He just...knew. It was a problem, and he didn’t want to cause a big issue. The worst part? The omegas also knew that he was close to his rut. In fact, every omega in the room was looking at him like he was some kind of monster. Andrew hated it. freewebnøvel.coɱ
He knew that they didn’t know him, they just saw him as the biggest danger in the room, but it still tore his heart to shreds. His Mom would probably also be upset if she saw this scene, and he hoped that she didn’t.
"Luis." Andrew finally gave in, unable to do this anymore. He was doing his best to breathe through his mouth, but it was getting too much. With the combined looks, he was reaching his threshold a lot faster than he originally thought.
"Yes, Andy?" Luis asked, surprised.
"Can you go ask for a private room for me? With a window that opens? I’m...at my limit." Luis and Maxwell gave him startled, worried looks. Maxwell reached up, touching his forehead and realising he was covered in sweat.
"Baby, why didn’t you say anything earlier?" Maxwell asked as Luis rushed over to the counter, not really caring about who was in line. For good reason. Andrew wasn’t about to hurt anyone else here, but they were all omegas. They couldn’t trust him.
"I just...I thought I could last a little longer." Andrew muttered, embarrassed, and Maxwell squeezed his hand.
"It’s okay that you didn’t. Please. Don’t force yourself. You’ve done so well up until now. I don’t want you to regret it now." Maxwell said and Andrew felt his heart break at the way that Maxwell spoke and looked at him. Maxwell sounded like his heart was breaking in a similar way to how Andrew felt. Andrew didn’t want to make Maxwell feel this way. He had wanted to be his rock.
They were both overcoming the trauma of their last interaction here, the already deeply ingrained trauma from their childhood, and now Andrew’s rut on top of all of it. Andrew bent, pressing his forehead against Maxwell’s shoulder. He inhaled slowly, deeply.
"I’m sorry Angel. I just didn’t want to make you more anxious over this Doctor’s meeting. I wanted to be here to support you, but I’m just causing you more stress." Andrew felt very apologetic but Maxwell reached up, his hand on the back of Andrew’s neck. His soft touch was soothing, relaxing to Andrew.
"Baby, you aren’t making me more anxious. I promise, and you aren’t causing me more stress in the way that you’re worried about. I’ve been worried from the moment I realised your rut was coming, but not for the reasons you’re thinking. We’ll talk about it more once you are a little less cloudy, alright? Mom looks like she’s coming back with a few nurses. Let’s get you somewhere safe, alright?" Andrew nodded, his breathing coming a little rough, raspy.
He knew that other people were helping carry him to another room. He couldn’t help the apologies that kept coming out of his mouth, and he knew that both Luis and Maxwell were displeased with him, but Andrew couldn’t help it. He didn’t like that he felt like a burden to them when he was already feeling strange about who he was becoming.
Andrew heard a door open, Andrew was shuffled in, before he was placed into a chair and he felt several hands let him go. Voices began to chat, but Andrew wasn’t able to pick them out. He was dazed, and his body felt a little unlike his own. He could remember this feeling, and a sense of dread filled him.
The last time he’d felt like this had been when he had first arrived at Maxwell’s place after he’d been kidnapped. His rut was coming. Horror filled his veins. Oh god no. Not now. He needed to hold off a bit more. He needed to be here for Maxwell. He couldn’t be selfish. They had held out this fucking long. He could...He NEEDED to hold out longer.
