Chapter 299: That quickly? Are you sure?
It was only about 20 minutes after Andrew had had his polite, but firm, ’get your shit together’ conversation that Maxwell strolled into his office, a bright smile on his face.
He didn’t greet Andrew, and instead placed a hand on his desk, all smiles as he leaned forward, invading Andrew’s personal space. Andrew had no worry about Maxwell seeing his computer. The man owned the company, owned the computer he was working on. Why would he care about that? Instead, he should be worried about what had put that kind of smile on his face.
"So." Maxwell started, a secret hidden in his smile. "I hear you have been harassing my omega managers? Is this true?" Harassing? Andrew had done his best to make it not seem like that.
Andrew sat back in his chair, meeting Maxwell’s smiling gaze and knew that Maxwell of all people trusted that he wasn’t harassing anyone. He clearly just found this whole situation amusing. Andrew crossed his arms, watching Maxwell as he watched him before he sighed.
"I apologise if that’s how it came across. That wasn’t my intention. I just know that our team needs more support, the other two have their hands full, and didn’t have time to step up and address the situation." Andrew said as politely as he could. Maxwell’s grin widened.
"You did the right thing. Honestly. I’m not here to criticize you. I’m more proud that you were able to be honest with them and take initiative. I heard their side of the conversation. One of the managers took it badly, while more than one of them reached out to me personally to let me know that they didn’t know it was getting that bad and that they were apologetic that they had let it slip through the cracks. With that said, I’m not afraid that you were rude. You’re too nice for that. If you were rude, they probably earned it." Maxwell said with that smile still on his lips. "Still though, it’s hot to see that you can hold your own ground. If I wasn’t the CEO I’d give you a quick little blowy right now." Andrew felt his face warm.
"Are you serious? That is not-I know that there are cameras here, Max!" Andrew protested and Maxwell laughed.
"I’m just kidding, of course. That’s for closets, our home, cars, and bathrooms where I don’t pay the cleaners." Maxwell teased, his blue eyes sparkling. "Are you done for the day? Or do you need to do some more work? If that’s the case, I can go back upstairs." Maxwell said, leaning more against the desk.
Andrew slid his gaze to the computer before him. He could get more work done. But....going home with Maxwell was too tempting. Andrew pushed himself towards the computer, making sure to save the data he had been working on before he began to log out, closing down programs he had to have open in the background. Maxwell watched him doing so, his gaze intrigued as Andrew navigated everything and then logged out of the computer in earnest.
"Well, I can’t say I’m upset at this outcome. Are we going to stop by to visit May and Ford before we leave?" Maxwell asked and Andrew nodded as he got to his feet, gathering all of his items off of the desk, before he moved towards the coatrack. He shoved everything into his pockets after he had pulled on his coat. Maxwell just followed him from one place to the next. It was cute, and Andrew had to fight a smile as he watched him.
Maxwell still had that little smile on his face, that little smirk that told him that Maxwell found what he was doing amusing, and Andrew, now that he was up and ’packed up’ for the evening, couldn’t resist anymore. He didn’t care about the cameras. Not for something as innocent as a kiss.
Andrew turned to Maxwell, wondering if he should ask, but he watched as Maxwell’s gaze slid to Andrew’s lips and without thought, Andrew reached down and wrapped his neck. Sliding his hand up into the thick strands of his black hair and grasping there. He tilted Maxwell’s head back, that smile never leaving Maxwell’s lips as Andrew’s came down on top of his.
It was a possessive kiss. As much as Andrew had initiated it, Maxwell took full control. His touch everything, his lips fluid, moving and his tongue stroking Andrew’s tongue until he had to be the one who broke contact. Maxwell leaned up on his tippy toes, all smiles as he pressed a few kisses against Andrew’s cheeks and lips.
"Mmm. What did you eat for lunch?" Maxwell asked and Andrew sighed, closing his eyes as he allowed the other man to take control. To pamper him and Maxwell willingly leaned into it. "We should get something from there together next time. You enjoyed your time with Maria today?" Andrew nodded, letting the other man run his hands through his hair, scratch his neck and take his glasses off for him.
"Yeah. We should, and yeah, I did." Andrew agreed quietly and Maxwell chuckled.
"My big brave and strong boy. How about a nice reward when you get home, hmm? Anything you want? Anything you’re craving?" Maxwell asked, his voice full of care and love. Andrew swooned.
"Not anything I want to discuss before we go and see Ford and May." Andrew told him and Maxwell laughed loudly. He reached for Andrew, rubbing his shoulders before he slid his hands down until they held Andrews. He dropped one hand off, finally holding onto it on his own and interlocking their fingers.
"Let’s go see them then so I can hear what you want." Maxwell said, smiling up at him and Andrew melted. He truly loved this man. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

May and Ford kept doing better and better each day as they settled into life living in the research department, and being near Richard while he was put under. May was still nervous, still worried, but each day that ticked by seemed to relax her more.
Ford had been pretty much cruising from day one, and had continued to do so. Honestly, Andrew was more worried about how he was doing then how May was doing. May did mask her feelings pretty well normally, but there had been a few times where she had crumbled. When that had happened, Ford had shut down.
Not in the obvious way, but in a way where he put on a smile, everyone else had assumed he was fine, just being strong for his wife, and then when everything had calmed down, Ford had ended up bedridden for a few days due to stress. Andrew didn’t want that to happen this time, especially since Andrew knew that there was a secondary level of care that Richard was going to need.
Care that his parents weren’t even sure they would be able to provide because they had never been omegas. It was clear that this had always been a worry for them. It wasn’t as if they had hid that from Andrew over the last few days.
Andrew was also worried about it too. He didn’t want to treat Richard differently, he didn’t want to make him uncomfortable either. Was their dynamic going to change? Were things going to get awkward?
It was only after they had hung around with them for about 20 minutes before bidding them goodbye that Andrew finally spoke to Maxwell about his fears. They were driving home, the roads a little slick from the snowfall that had happened when neither Maxwell nor Andrew had noticed.
"I’m worried about what’s going to happen to Richard once he wakes up." Andrew told him and Maxwell slid his gaze to him. Andrew was driving, as he usually did, his hands tight on the stirring wheel.
"Okay. What do you mean?" Maxwell asked, trying to get to the deeper issue at hand. Andrew swallowed.
"Well, everyone agrees he shouldn’t, no, can’t live alone, but I also know that he probably can’t live with his parents, and he can’t live with his sister. I don’t want to cart him off like he’s a problem. He’s not. He’s basically family. I just-" Andrew shut his mouth, his jaw tight as he tried to think of what he could say, what would be the right thing to say in this situation.
They pulled to a stop at a red light, Andrew’s throat working as emotion overcame him. Maxwell placed his hand on his thigh, giving it a squeeze through his glove.
"Okay. I hear you, Andrew. It’s okay. I don’t want to abandon him either. Richard is not only a good researcher, he’s your family. Found family still counts as family, and I would never want to alienate him. We’ll figure something out." Maxwell assured him and Andrew was just glad that he said it.
He just needed to hear it from someone else.
"Thank you. I just-" Maxwell’s hand squeezed his thigh again and Andrew swallowed whatever words he was going to say. Maxwell gave him a soft look.
"We can also take him in too, Andrew. We have enough space, and if he’s like the brother you say he is, you shouldn’t react to his pheromones. Honestly, you’ve barely reacted to anyone’s pheromones except mine." There was a hint of pride in his words. "We have enough space. Hell, we also looked at places. We both liked the one that Kim and Jenny suggested. If you wanted to, we could try to move forward with that one. We can reach out to some other realtors, the ones we liked and see if they can get us in contact with the realtor selling the place." Maxwell said and Andrew swallowed.
"You’re trying to suggest that Richard moves in with us?" Andrew said, a little bit of disbelief in his voice, but also a bit of hope. Maxwell sighed as Andrew moved the car forward.
"Why not? I’ve already helped one person through manifestation, why not another? It’s not a big deal, and as a fellow omega, I’ll be able to support him, and his parents can come and visit whenever they want. I do think we shouldn’t be in the place we are now though. We should move, especially since we never know when your damn ex will get an urge to do something insane.
Andrew’s head felt too full with the words coming from Maxwell’s mouth. He hadn’t even considered that that could be a possibility. He didn’t think Maxwell would allow it. That made him feel a little bit bad and he quietly kicked himself.
"We would have to move? Could we do it that quickly? I don’t want to rush you. I liked that place, but I don’t want you to move in somewhere you don’t like. Plus. it could have sold while we were...busy with my rut." Andrew said, his face warm. Maxwell chuckled.
"Kim has been quietly sending me the fact that it’s still listed every day since she found out we were ’done’ dealing with your rut. It’s still available. I’ll reach out right now. I don’t want you to worry about Richard like this, and if he complains, we’ll just lie and tell him we weren’t doing this for him, we were doing this because we didn’t want to lose the house." Maxwell slid his hand away from Andrew’s thigh to go to his phone.
"I love you." Andrew told him, meaning it, and Maxwell chuckled, his ears going pink.
"I know. I love you too."
