Chapter 341: I compare you to a kiss from a rose

Eventually, they were gifted Richard. Richard was shivering like a wet chihuahua, his eyes watering, layered in clothing, a neutralizing cloth to his nose. Dr. Spencer was with them, walking with Richard in her suit as they came face to face with Maxwell and Andrew.

Richard took a few breaths around Andrew and Maxwell, and he shuddered.

"You smell like fucking breakfast together." Richard said and Andrew blinked, Maxwell blinked, and Dr. Spencer was the most professional she’d ever been. Andrew took a deep, deep breath and stared at Richard.

"Do you know what you smell like?" Andrew asked and Richard’s eyes widened.

"No. I can’t smell myself." Richard said and Andrew’s gaze narrowed.

"I don’t think someone who smells like their sister’s namesake should be talking about what we smell like." Andrew said casually, and watched as Richard’s eyes went wider, and the man shook more.

"What?" He asked and Maxwell chuckled.

"Andy, that wasn’t very nice." Maxwell chastised and Richard stared at him, before he turned to Dr. Spencer.

"Is he right? Do I smell like fucking roses? Is this some kind of fucked up joke?" Richard asked and Dr. Spencer looked a little nervous. She’d obviously heard of Rose, even if she hadn’t met her. Kinda hard not to notice someone like Rose, honestly.

She wouldn’t make eye contact with Richard, and when he looked at the other two, both Maxwell and Andrew had a little knowing smirk on their face. That told him all that he needed to know.

Richard looked ill, sick. Like just finding that out made the situation that worse.

"Fuck me. Is there a way to change that? I bet I smell like an old woman." He complained. "I hate the smell of roses." He muttered darkly and Maxwell let out a laugh.

"We can worry about that aspect later. I don’t think that you should worry about something you can’t even smell." Maxwell told him calmly, and that only seemed to incite Richard more. His emotions grew bigger, and the smell grew stronger. Andrew laughed.

"If you get too worked up, the whole lower floor is going to smell like a flower shop." Andrew warned and Richard’s face flushed. It wasn’t very nice of him to say, but there was a different kind of understanding between him and Richard.

Richard glared at him, the hand holding the cloth to his nose flexing and twitching. He was angry, and Andrew just let out a soft smile. That only stirred him up more, and Richard pushed past everyone, heading for the door.

"I don’t even want to look at you right now. You’re such an asshole. I can’t believe Maxwell even likes you." Richard muttered angrily and Andrew kept smiling as Dr. Spencer followed after him. Dr. Spencer glanced back, worried about whether Andrew was upset at Richard’s angry comment but it rolled off of Andrew’s back like water.

He knew what Maxwell liked about him, he was fine. Maxwell was even silently laughing. frёeωebɳovel.com

"Yeah. I’m glad to know I’ve inherited more siblings." Maxwell told Andrew quietly as Richard made his way towards the elevator, Dr. Spencer followed after him and kept an eye on him. Andrew waited as one of the researchers passed over the suitcase of Richard’s things that Ford had brought over for him.

"Are you? Richard can be a handful. So can Rose." Andrew told him and Maxwell laughed.

"Ben may be calm now, but he was a demon when he was younger, and you know Will exists, right?" Maxwell said dryly and Andrew let out a sigh. He made a good point.

"Understood. Will could give anyone a run for their money." Andrew agreed and Maxwell smiled. He wrapped his arm around Andrew’s, looping them so that he could hold him close.

"Let’s go make sure your little brother doesn’t kill himself or someone else, hmm?" Maxwell asked, all smiles in his eyes and Andrew softened. Richard wasn’t really his younger brother since they were so close in age, but he felt that the title was appropriate for how he was acting, and for the moment.

He was glad that Maxwell said it, even with what was going on. Andrew bent, pressing his lips against his forehead, affection welling up inside of him.

"I know I don’t need to, but thank you for being so understanding of this situation. I couldn’t ask for a better partner." Andrew told him and watched as Maxwell’s ears turned pink.

They followed after Richard who had gone up in the elevator with Dr. Spencer first, and waited for the elevator to come back down to their level. By the time they had arrived at the lobby with Richard’s suitcase, the man was not looking well.

Dr. Spencer had her arm around him, trying to support the other man and Andrew handed over the suitcase to Maxwell and moved towards him quickly. Richard was tucked near the back end of the receptionist desk, closer to the elevators. It wasn’t quite a busy time, but the man had been kept in a secure bubble until this moment. He had no defense for any of the smells he was breathing in.

"Smell my damn breakfast scent and focus on that. Don’t think about anything else." Andrew ordered as he pushed Dr. Spencer out of the way gently. He was taller than Richard now, able to hold up the larger man while Dr. Spencer, an omega from a much younger age, was floundering trying to keep him upright. Richard was panting, his face pale and flushed at the same time. Andrew shoved his wrist under his nose, not even sure if this was the right thing to do. Richard’s other hand clutched the cloth, and he slid panicked eyes towards Andrew.

Andrew waited, hoping that this worked while he could feel the stares of everyone else. If they hadn’t known what had happened to Richard, or Dr. Gates before, this was going to spread like wildfire now.

It took a few minutes, but Richard slowly calmed down. Andrew glanced at Maxwell, who nodded in turn.

"I’ll go start the car." He said out loud and rushed off. Andrew hated that the man was doing it alone, but that was okay. They were in this together.

Andrew helped Richard towards the door slowly, pausing whenever he thought the man needed a break. Richard was clinging onto the hand Andrew had against his nose like a damn lifeline, and that part broke his heart.

"I hope people don’t get the wrong idea." Richard whispered at one point after they had made it past the receptionist desk and were now at the tables and chairs near the front doors. "We aren’t in a throuple." Richard muttered. Andrew stared at him, pale, flushed, sweating buckets, barely keeping anything together.

His pheromones were out of whack, he wasn’t even dressed for the weather they were going to take him out into and Andrew sighed.

"It’s okay. I’ll family zone you pretty hard. Maxwell already sees you like a little brother. We’ll just tell everyone we’re taking care of family." Andrew said. "The contractors working on the house already believe that. We nipped it in the bud pretty quick." Andrew told him softly. "Or, I could just tell everyone your family adopted me or some shit. Didn’t want them to think I got in with several sets of connections." Andrew joked and Richard snorted.

"What good are my connections? I’m barely a manager." He said darkly and Dr. Spencer sighed.

"Don’t say that. Your word has a lot of sway. Why else would we be taking care of you like this, Dr. Gates?" Dr. Spencer asked and Richard looked slightly apologetic.

"Sorry. I didn’t mean to be so snappy." He said quietly and Andrew stared at him.

"It’s okay. You’re feeling a lot of things. I don’t know what omega pheromones do to a body, but I can tell you what alpha ones did to mine. Be snippy and snarky, it’s okay. I’m not going to get mad at you. You know how hard that is." Andrew assured Richard and the man swallowed thickly.

"I hate that you have to put up with this." Richard admitted quietly. "I know I need someone to help look after me, but I just feel so damn bad about this. You two are like, just getting into-"

"Don’t start." Andrew said. "That’s the exact thing you could say to get me mad." Andrew told him. Richard paled and Dr. Spencer cleared her throat.

"Dr. Nice, your pheromones..." She warned and Andrew flushed. It would have to be bad for even her to notice since she was in the suit.

"Apologies, but you can tell that comments like that do make me mad." Andrew told him and Richard gulped.

"It’s kind of fucked up that you smell like breakfast when you’re mad." Richard told him and Andrew laughed. No one had said that to him thus far, but of course it would Richard who would.

"Hey, it could be worse. I could smell like absolute garbage. Or roses." Andrew smirked as Richard glared at him. Then they heard a car honk outside. It had to be Maxwell. "Think you can make it to the car?" Andrew asked and watched Richard’s face.

His expression hardened, his gaze narrowed, and he nodded. He gulped, taking a few deep breaths before he started moving. Once they hit the outside air and saw that Maxwell had pulled up to be as close to the door as possible, he seemed invigorated.

"Outside air. Feels like forever since I had this." He muttered quietly, and Andrew had a feeling that they were good now.

Dr. Spencer helped them get into the car, Andrew making sure that Richard was strapped in, before turning to thank the other woman. She was all smiles, worry behind her eyes, but she waved them off as Andrew sat in the backseat with Richard, his arm to his nose like some kind of repellent.

Maxwell barely waited for Dr. Spencer to step back before tearing out of the parking lot, heading home. Andrew was sure he was white knuckling the drive home, he just couldn’t tell because of the gloves he had on.
