(BL)Alpha Made-Chapter 565: Weddings gifts come in all shapes and sizes
The next few days were a little chaotic. Andrew found himself getting visited by everyone when Maxwell was gone to work. Maria, his other friends, Jenny, Kim, Amir, anyone who had a free moment was coming by to drop off gifts and congratulate him on his mating with Maxwell.
Luis even dropped by with all of the wedding gifts that they had been storing at their house and Andrew had forgotten that was even a tradition. It was made even worse when he began to see what the rich people who had attended the wedding had given them.
Several summer houses, stocks, things that Andrew couldn’t have even dreamed of in a different lifetime. One person had even gifted him an island, and worried about it, Andrew tried to figure out who had sent them something so ridiculous.
When Andrew saw the name, he felt his lips firm out into a thin line. Damn it. It was Walter and Aster. Andrew wanted to complain, but something in his gut told him that if he did he would get something even more ridiculous.
What could that be? Andrew had no damn clue, and he didn’t want to find out.
Luis liked watching Andrew panic, in a nice way. She sat back, watching as the movers she’d hired came into the house and moved everything into the room that Richard had stayed in before the suite downstairs had been finished. Thankfully, most of the gifts were placed in cards, but it was still ridiculous.
Andrew was used to weddings giving people things like nice china and a good blender or something. Luis was clearly enjoying herself.
"Ben and Amir got a mine from his grandparents. You’re lucky Amir talked them out of giving you one." She told him, seemingly amused by Andrew’s shaking hands, pale face and shocked, amber eyes.
"A mine? Walter gave me a damn island!" Andrew protested and Luis seemed interested in that.
"Oh? Which one?" She asked, like it wasn’t the most ridiculous thing in the world.
"Luis!" Andrew said with exasperation and Luis just laughed. She was smiling, happy as she watched Andrew get flustered. Andrew only got more flustered when she snapped a photo of him, grinning into her phone as she typed away. "Who are you taking that for?" Andrew snapped, watching as more people kept moving things into his house.
"Maxy." Luis answered. "He was curious about what you were doing. He was watching the cameras moving things in and you freaking out. He assumed that these were the wedding gifts from just us." Those words brought on another horrifying realisation.
"What?" Andrew asked and Luis smirked at Andrew, her eyes looking just like Maxwell’s.
"Did you think that we would only get you something small, Andy?"

Kim came over later that day, having truly been busy each time that Andrew had tried to come and speak to her. It was a busy season for her, as it always was, and there were a few fires that she had to put out. She truly wasn’t trying to avoid him, which she reiterated each time that she had to turn Andrew down.
That did mean that Andrew got to spend time with May and the others, including a rather sweet baby Fern. Andrew was smitten with the little babies in his family’s life, and it made his stomach twist into knots as he thought about how there was probably a little baby, or a bundle of cells starting to form inside of Maxwell.
Kim came over to Andrew’s home, promising that Jenny would be coming over later, but she wanted to get the kids settled for dinner. They’d been eating take out too much and wanted to spend time with their Mommy. Kim wasn’t going to deny them that, and she would cook for them the next day.
The kids understood that Andrew also needed to see her as well.
Kim looked nervous. Honestly, as she should be. By now, she knew that Andrew knew what they had gotten up to while he’d been on his honeymoon. He knew that she had supported Noah in his adventure, as had everyone else, but for some reason Andrew felt that Kim was more involved.
The redhead slid into the seat across from him in the kitchen, watching Andrew as he finished placing some unbaked cookies onto a tray. He was on the last batch when Kim said that she would be coming over.
Maxwell was working late, his day packed full of meetings so he didn’t have to go pick him up for a while. This gave them quite a lot of time to talk about what was going on, and what Kim knew that Luis and Thomas weren’t telling him. Even when Luis had come by the other day, she didn’t elaborate more on what his father’s side of the family had done. Who had been caught, how related they were to Andrew (outside of his father), and what state they had shown up to the police in.
Kim didn’t look uncomfortable, just more resigned to her fate as she watched Andrew moving around the kitchen. She leaned her elbow against the counter, resting her fist against her cheek. She looked like a sad salaryman, and the image did make Andrew want to laugh. She looked exhausted, and Andrew could see that she could end up falling asleep at the kitchen island if Andrew didn’t get to talking.
"What have you been up to while I’ve been gone?" Andrew asked, glancing at Kim over his shoulder as he moved hot trays around. Kim let out a heavy sigh.
"I feel like you know, which is why you’re giving me a bit of the cold shoulder." Kim muttered, sounding upset, but resigned. She didn’t blame Andrew for being distant, even if Andrew didn’t think that he was. He was just being cautious, since he didn’t want to question her when she didn’t have the time to do so. If he saw her too much without getting answers he might end up questioning her at an inopportune time.
"It wasn’t to hurt you. It was more to let you rest before we had enough time to talk." Andrew said. "I’m not mad, I just want to give us enough time to chat properly." Andrew told her, glancing over his shoulder at her again. She was watching him, her expression composed but her shoulders hunched.
"You’re talking about how you want to ask me questions about what happened with Noah and at your wedding, aren’t you?" Kim asked and Andrew nodded. There was no point in beating around the bush.
"Yeah. I am. I appreciate all of you keeping it from me in the moment but that doesn’t mean you get to hide it from me for forever after that." Andrew’s words sounded more like a threat than he intended and Kim’s lips turned up slightly.
"Yeah. I told Thomas as much when we came to the decision to keep it from you, but he didn’t quite believe me. He went into full protective mode, you know? It was actually kind of sweet how protective he became over you and Maxy. Thankfully, he has me here so that it doesn’t blow up in his face completely." Kim said with a sigh. "First things first, however. I am not going to speak on all of the negative things first before I congratulate you for overcoming your fears and becoming mates with Maxy. I would be a terrible aunt if I did that." Kim’s smile was warm and Andrew turned to face her completely.
He was still in his apron, but he’d at least taken off his oven mitts to speak with her like this. His heart warmed at her words, appreciating that she said it. Everyone had, but that didn’t mean Andrew didn’t like hearing it.
"Thank you, Kim." Andrew meant his words. Kim sighed again.
"Of course. Now, back to the day of your wedding. The fucking idiots thought that they would not only be able to storm a private island owned by the Becketts, but that they would be able to do so with two boats only. Not only that, they were small speed boats so even though they had a lot of speed, they were terrible for the kind of weather that the water was having." Andrew had no idea what she was talking about and Kim started going off, explaining that because Andrew and Maxwell’s boat was on the bigger side for transportation purposes, they hadn’t noticed that the water had been rough outside of the narrow passage to the island they were getting married on.
Andrew had only asked the wedding planner if everything was okay and she had told him yes, and Kim confirmed that she had been right. They had been okay, but open water had been rough. So the idiots had nearly killed themselves trying to sabotage the wedding, and they had even fucked up that part.
They came to the main island, where everyone was going to come after the ceremony. That was the heavily guarded island, that had a helicopter at its disposal, and many pissed off security guards who wanted to punish idiot true alphas who thought they were the best.
Kim and Thomas had let the guards catch them, had even left the group that had been caught rot in the holding area that Thomas had on the island for a few days. Another two days after Andrew and Maxwell had left just to make sure that they hadn’t known about it at all.
Then they had gone in.
Kim had looked a little reluctant to admit what she had done at this point and Andrew reached out and took her hand in his. He gave it a squeeze. He was not going to judge her for this. After all, how long had Andrew spoken about killing his own father after he found out what his actions had meant for his Mom? Andrew would never hold what Kim did against her. Never.
It had been a lot of his siblings. Not Andrew’s, but his father’s siblings. So his aunts and uncles who had been hiding who had come with him to ’get his kid back’ or some shit. It had been a ridiculous idea, but it made sense when Kim and Thomas realised they’d been on drugs. That didn’t save them from the wrath that Kim and Thomas laid down on them.
Kim admitted that they had been in really bad conditions when they had handed them back to the police a few days later. Kim felt like she’d gotten several decades worth of anger out on them. Not just her own rage, but everyone’s. She knew that violence wasn’t the answer, was never the answer, and she would never tell her kids to do what she had done, but...
Andrew didn’t say anything, just squeezed her hand in response.
Andrew understood. That hadn’t been just for her. It had been for Andrew, Maxwell, Andrew’s Mom and probably for Kim herself. For the young woman she had been, helpless to really help her cousin when something terrible happened to her.
"We just need to get my grandfather now." Andrew told Kim quietly, and Kim swallowed.
"I’m sorry I got Noah involved. In fairness, I did try to talk him out of it. He wouldn’t hear it, especially from me. Because I got to beat up his bullies, he wanted to do something for you, and for Nicole." Kim admitted. She looked like she was going to cry. "How could I have said no to him when he said it like that?" Andrew got it.
Andrew wouldn’t have been able to say anything to Noah when he said it like that either. Had lost the ability to lecture him when he had. So, Andrew did what he’d done for Noah. He walked around the island and reached out, hugging Kim tightly as they both processed what had happened after Andrew had gotten married.
People had tried to hurt him, and they had failed. They had come out victorious, happy, and now it was time to remind Andrew, Kim and everyone else that was the case. No one was going to pester Andrew ever again from that family. His demons had been caught, the company that had hired them was in a lengthy legal battle, and Andrew had a husband who loved him and a family that would kill for him.
Things were going to be okay.
