(BL) Mafia Love; He who falls the hardest loses-Chapter 65: Him
Chapter 65: Him
Hiroshi opened his tired eyes at the sound of a whimper. He turned on the warm lights to look at the man sleeping on the other side of the bed. He raised his hand and touched the man’s face brushing away the hair that covered his face.
Haruki’s forehead was covered in cold sweat with his delicate brows now tightly drawn together. He gently mopped the sweat off his forehead before gently calling out his name.
Haruki’s whimpering continued and feeling a source of warmth close to him, he turned towards the heat source.
Seeing him turn towards him, the doctor did not hesitate to pull the man into his arms giving him a loose hug. He wanted so badly to pull him into his arms tightly, to hug him.
He wanted to ease the pain the man felt. If he could, he would take it all away and give the man happiness, make him smile; he wanted to so badly, but . . . He knew there was no way he could do any of these without the man letting him.
He felt like a hungry kid watching pastries through the show glass of a bakery, his nose filled with the aroma of freshly baked pastries, the sight of warm bread and yet unable to get it.
With a slight furrow of his brow as helplessness washed over him, Hiroshi wrapped his hands tightly around Haruki into a deep snuggle. He noticed the whimpering stop and he finally let his brow relax.
The black-out curtains did a good job of keeping the bright morning light outside. The room was dark and cosy when he turned off the light.
Haruki moved, pressing his face against Hiroshi’s chest, wriggling a bit until he found a comfortable spot in the man’s arms. He continued sleeping causing Hiroshi to feel like he finally got the bread through the show glass he got his eyes on.
The doctor could finally relax, after all; he had what he was salivating for, as much as it was just a small portion of it.
He rubbed Haruki’s back, his hand moving in a slow up-and-down movement, feeling great about the ticket he got to console the man.
After he shot last night, he could not hold back from claiming Haruki again pressed under the bed; who wouldn’t with such unmerited access to the most beautiful being before him?
He didn’t stop until the man was so tired he passed out while he was buried deep down. After all, he had a reputation for upkeep and protection.
"I should really know when to stop," he scolded himself. A smile he seemed to try hard to hold back lifted the corners of his lips until he was smiling brightly into the darkness of the night.
Although it was just a small piece he was given, it was impossible for him to not feel like he had won ownership of the entire bakery.
"Aki . . ." His smile froze at the sound of these words mumbled from the lips of the man he wrapped in warmth.
He felt like his entire body was drained of every single drop of blood despite his heart stopping for a couple of seconds before pounding hard.
He warned himself not to overthink as he felt pain envelope his heart in its claws as the claws closed in on it rapidly.
"Mhh?" He asked almost too inaudible, his voice heavily shaken.
"Aki, thanks," a tired appreciation filled his ears in the silence of the dark room.
He gazed into the darkness of the room that seemed to weigh heavily on him. He heaved a sigh.
So many thoughts went on his mind. Perhaps he was the one who hurt Haruki the most by having his brother abandon his crush. Guilt caused his arms around Haruki to loosen.
Staring into space, the memory of the day his words pulled Haruki and his brother apart came flooding in.
Aki was tense and scared but still came to him for advice. He was young, too, and perhaps trying to act like an adult to his half-brother was the mistake he made. He should never have said what he thought an adult would say. What right did he have to dissuade Aki from following his heart when he was doing just that.
The more he thought of it, the greater the realization of the fact that he had hurt two people in his life and himself.
Other lovers did not stand a chance against him—at least that was what he believed—after all, he was not forced to sign a contract, and Haruki would forever remain in his life.
He was to remain the man’s doctor till death, even if he did not get what he hoped for. However, standing a chance against Aki was not possible.
Those two had been friends for eyes, and although it looked like they were no longer close when they met again, he could not confidently say that Aki had no more feelings for Haruki.
With this event, he could not help but feel that Haruki felt the same way. If Haruki felt that way, then he would have to step back as there was no chance for him to win.
His heart ached. He wanted so badly to pull away to stop being a cancer in their life, but he could not even bear to let go of him physically at the moment.
His loosened hold tightened with a resolve that overcame his guilt and pain even though he knew the chances of him ever taking a bite of that pastry was next to zero with this new discovery.
There was no way he could go back to sleep with the thoughts weighing heavily on his mind until it made it almost hard to breathe. He remained stiff on the bed until a gentle knock came on the door followed by Kiyoshi’s entry.
He bowed slightly when he saw Hiroshi wide awake after opening the curtains. Kiyoshi looked down at his wristwatch and his brow furrowed slightly.
His brow drew closer when he noticed Haruki sleeping in Hiroshi’s arms, and the man, who was known for being a light sleeper, was still asleep even after the same knock he usually used to wake him up.
He met Hiroshi’s bloodshot eyes with a coldness that froze the atmosphere.
Hiroshi met Kiyoshi’s gaze calmly before he gently moved the man in his arms a bit. He met Haruki’s gaze and in a low voice, he said, "Could you leave for a moment?"
"Okay!" Kiyoshi paused and met the man’s unwavering gaze for a few seconds before nodding and walking out of the room.
With Kiyoshi gone, Hiroshi finally moved away from Haruki, causing the man in his arms to wake up.
He squinted his eyes a bit as they tried to adjust to the sudden brightness. He looked at the doctor before asking with his voice deep, "What is the time?"
Hiroshi checked the time and responded. Haruki looked surprised by the time. He rose from the bed.
Haruki felt muscle ache from all over causing him to turn to the doctor with an angry glare.
Hiroshi stared at him calmly with one thought in his mind, ’How could a human look so beautiful?’
Haruki could easily notice the awe in the man’s gaze and with a deep frown, he turned and walked to the bathroom. He had plans for the day, and he would be late if he wasted a second.
Hiroshi walked out of the room to bathe in some other room. Kiyoshi was standing at the door causing him to halt. Their gaze met, each having their own thoughts, but both of them were unwilling to either back down or attack.
Kiyoshi finally gave in walking by the doctor into the room. Hiroshi felt a strong urge to call work for a day off. Perhaps he would mean more if he spent more time with Haruki, but what right did he have?

"You’re late," Hiroshi was immediately scolded by his father as soon as he stepped into his office.
He halted taken aback by the unexpected visitor in his office. He greeted his father as casually as he could before walking towards his seat where his father now sat comfortably.
"And you look as though you have not had enough rest, what have you been doing?" His father asked, his tone direct without a hint of a smile on his face.
"I was just busy last night. I am sorry I came late today; I won’t repeat such a mistake again," he directly apologized, hoping that would calm his father as his tone sounded cold.
"That’s not it. If I want to know what you’re doing, it’s pretty easy; however, as long as you don’t repeat such a mistake, I won’t have to investigate," his father warned.
Hiroshi swallowed hard as he tried to meet his father’s gaze. When he looked down, his father’s voice came a bit stricter this time, "Look at me."
