Chapter 81: Dinner

Hiroshi felt an urge to laugh at what she said. She seemed to be very aware of what she was doing by sending back to the floor below. He did not want to argue with her or get into any sort of altercation concerning it, so he obediently sat on the chair she gestured to him.

She turned and left him there. He waited impatiently, although he maintained the right amount of composure. It felt like an eternity before Kiyoshi walked into the waiting area.

"You must have waited for quite a while," Kiyoshi said as he approached the doctor. "I informed the boss of your presence. He wants you to come up." freeweɓnovel~cѳm

Hiroshi felt it would have been a lot better if he had got to meet Haruki directly as soon as he got that floor. The woman stopped him even though guards and their security systems recognised the card he held.

She had offended him, but that was not something he wanted to deal with at the moment, so he stood up and picked up the paper bag.

"You could have called me as soon as she sent you downstairs," Kiyoshi said seriously.

Haruki’s past lovers were not allowed easily into Haruki’s workplace, but Hiroshi was different; he was Haruki’s doctor before he became his lover, and he would probably remain that even after they broke up because no one was going to take away his access card from him in case of an emergency.

He felt displeased by the action of Haruki’s secretary, but as much as they worked together when Haruki was at work, he still felt the need to let her know of her wrongdoing. She was neither Haruki’s guard nor security personnel in the building, but she chose to send Haruki’s doctor away.

"I told her I came to see you," Hiroshi said as they walked into the elevator.

"What did you come to see me for?" Kiyoshi paused before he could press the button and turned to look at the man.

"I came to see Haruki, but when she asked, I could not tell her I came to see the boss, but I knew you would let me see him without a hitch."

"So you used me as a shield. I don’t see the need for that. Next time, tell her you came to see him and show him your card. I don’t think she would stop you. He has been too busy to eat anything, but when you asked, I knew I would use this opportunity to get him to eat."

Hiroshi wondered what had Haruki so busy he couldn’t take a break to eat dinner, but it was not his business to know. He came to feed Haruki and nothing more.

"Did you bring enough because I haven’t eaten myself?" Kiyoshi said with a trace of complaint in his tone as though he was pouring out his grievances to the doctor.

The doctor thought for some time before nodding. "I brought enough, and I could call the restaurant to deliver some more."

Kiyoshi looked down at the paper bag and sighed. "I thought you cooked it yourself. We could easily order from a restaurant on our own, but the boss refused to respond when I asked him what he wanted to eat; he is just too busy."

Haruki was indeed very busy when Hiroshi walked into the office. There were two other people, and they stood around a table looking at a large paper. One of them took down a note in his notebook before moving his gaze back to the paper.

As he approached them, he could see that it was a blueprint. Haruki was focused on talking to one of the men, he barely glanced at the doctor.

Hiroshi removed his earbud and wore it to prevent unnecessary suspicion, especially since it was obvious that they were discussing something of great importance.

He unpacked the meal on Haruki’s work desk after clearing it of anything important. Kiyoshi joined him and went away with the bowl of food Hiroshi gave him. He sat at the table with those working seriously.

He began working, but he would stop to take a spoonful of the rice before getting back to what he was doing.

It continued this way while Hiroshi watched them, unsure of how to approach Haruki, who seemed to be too busy to bother about his surroundings.

Haruki finally glanced his way. It was as though he could not believe what he had seen as he turned to the doctor and met his gaze. Hiroshi reached and removed the earbud when Haruki’s gaze remained on him.

"When did you come?" Haruki asked. His words got the others present raising their heads. They were obviously taken aback by the presence of someone else in the office.

"A few minutes ago," Hiroshi responded naturally before gesturing to the food he brought. "I brought your dinner."

"Let’s take a break," Haruki said to the men he was working with, one of whom looked middle-aged and the other perhaps in his late thirties. "Get the cafeteria to bring you dinner, eat in your offices and be back in thirty minutes," he added.

When those men began leaving, Kiyoshi also rose up with the bowl of food. He nodded at the doctor before walking out of the office behind those men. Haruki dropped down to the seat behind him and raised his hand to massage his forehead.

The doctor, knowing Haruki was tired and since he could not take the food to him because the table was occupied with the large paper, walked to Haruki empty-handed.

His fingers brushed against Haruki’s hand, massaging his temple. Haruki dropped his hand as though reading the man’s thought and closed his eyes. He sighed when the doctor began massaging his forehead lightly until the pressure gradually increased.

When it looked as though Haruki had relaxed to the point of wanting to sleep, he removed his hand and slid his hand over Haruki’s chest, covered by the dress shirt he wore. His hand stopped on Haruki’s abdomen.

Haruki did not bother stopping the man’s exploring hand even as the man began rubbing his stomach. Hiroshi leaned close to Haruki’s ear and whispered, "Your employees will be here soon. Please eat first."

"Okay," Haruki nodded to the man’s words before sitting up. The doctor removed his hand from Haruki’s stomach, and Haruki rose up.

Haruki followed the doctor to the table and sat down to eat. He reached for the chopsticks. Hiroshi stretched towards him, but Hiroshi moved it away from his reach.

"I will feed you. That is what I came here to do, or I would have ordered something from a restaurant or the cafeteria for you," Hiroshi told him.

Haruki raised his tired eyes to look at the doctor for only a few seconds before looking down at the chopsticks that the doctor kept away from him.

Although Hiroshi expected Haruki to get angry with him and maybe order him to bring the chopsticks over, Haruki rested his back against the backrest of his seat and said, "I’m ready."

Haruki could not hold back his smile as he reached for a piece of salmon first and brought it to Haruki’s lips. Haruki obediently opened his mouth and took the food into his mouth. He chewed silently with his eyes closed as though he were eating and sleeping at the same time.

Haruki finished his meal by having the doctor bring the food to his lips every time and opening his mouth to take the food. With slow chewing and swallowing, he would be ready for another food, and the doctor would be ready to serve him more.

When the food stopped, Haruki opened his eyes and met the gaze of the doctor with sleepy eyes. The doctor opened a bottle of water he picked from Haruki’s fridge and pushed it towards Haruki.

Haruki, acting spoiled, didn’t lift his hand to take the bottle but leaned forward towards the doctor. Hiroshi smiled and brought the bottle to Haruki’s lips.

As soon as Haruki gulped enough water, he moved away and leaned against the backrest of the seat and closed his eyes. He stayed peacefully as though he had been in a deep sleep for a few minutes already.

Hiroshi cleaned up the table and packed up everything, although the bowl he had given Kiyoshi was still missing. It was evident Haruki was tired, and the fact that he was able to be there for him as a support, he was satisfied.

When a soft knock came to the door, Hiroshi wished he could go to the door and send the person away, but he knew he didn’t have the right to, so he remained quiet in the room.

The person knocked softly again and, without waiting for permission, pushed the door open. It was Haruki’s secretary. She seemed surprised to see Hiroshi standing beside Haruki, who was asleep on his seat.

She looked at Haruki before moving her gaze to the doctor and asked expressionlessly, "Is he asleep?"
